Monster Hunter World Catch-All

More monsters. More hunting. More Monday. On PS4. See you around 5-6 PST.

Whatever you want to do is good with me! Event quests for gold crowns? Running the Guiding Lands? Safi'jiiva raids? I just need zenny and research points, and the companionship of my fellow hunters.

You son of a B#$ch, I'm in!

Barring any catastrophic event, I should be able to join as well. I should probably charge my controller, now that I think about it...

On now much belated!

Right on time, extremely late

Sorry we missed you! Ping me sometime this week and we'll get on and do a hunt together.

I ended up trying to get my GF a few more missions closer to the final Velkhana fight. Hunted fulgur , and an optional Azure.

Very nice! The Velkhana fights are fun, and the whole plan is absurd. Dealing with a flying monster by pointing a giant cannon at the ground and assuming she'll walk in front of it if we beat her up a little.

I've been grinding the Guiding Lands, knocking out all the pieces I could ever need for charms, pendants, and such. And just when I start thinking that an end might be possible, they drop some new charms and monsters.

I've also used a PSTV to stream MHW to my treadmill in the garage. It's an excellent way to make time disappear; just getting on the treadmill, I get bored and distracted after 5 minutes or so, but put on Monster Hunter and I'll walk right through a 30-minute hunt without noticing.

It's Monnnnday! I'll try to be on at a reasonable time this...time.

Heck yeah it's Monday.

As usual, down for whatever I've tried Kulve Taroth a half-dozen times, but haven't had a successful run yet. Mostly not my fault - lots of randoms can't handle even the simple attacks - but that move where she melts the entire ceiling and it all falls down at once, I haven't figured out yet. My defense is good, but it's still an instant-kill.

I've been thinking recently that the gap between the regular Iceborne monsters and the way they keep one-upping their final bosses is pretty extreme; with this lance build, I can pretty much go AFK and make some coffee against any non-tempered monster, but all the end-game monsters can usually roar, stun-lock then two-shot me. I wouldn't mind the non-tempered ones being about 25% tougher and the tempered ones being about 25% weaker.

But hey, it's not called Fair and Equitable Challenge Hunter.

Not sure I'll be able to join tonight. I will try, but no guarantees.

Don't worry, you're just keeping up our long-standing tradition of never quite getting a full group of 4 together. The tripod is the strongest hunting configuration!

I've also been running lance for MR Kulve Taroth. As long as you have guard 5 and guard up you can block nearly anything, including the fire pools, and counter her roars.

The only thing you can't block easily is her jumping belly flop, but you can power guard that as well.

Also cannot recommend HB3 enough and augment/full upgrade your armor. 200 max health and 1050 armor gives a lot of leeway for sloppiness.

Double post

I think this is the best kill screen I've ever had.

That's CSteel doing the spinny Dual Blades thing above her knee, JMnITup with SnS just to my right, and Cayne just offscreen to the left getting ready for a CB overhand when she comes back down. The stickies on her face are courtesy of yours truely.

Monster Hunter Monday!

Heck yeah it's Monday! Get that Sunday out of here! Tuesday, stay home!

I was going to mess around with Hunting Horn, but I'm trying to get a horn from Kulve Taroth that, despite like 1000 rolls, hasn't come up for me yet.

And then there's some kind of AT Namielle running around? I am terrified!

But most likely, it's time for pushing people through assigned quests and grinding Master Rank, and I'm all about that. Eventually I need to be doing Tempered Elder Investigations, but eh, that'll be true forever.

Didn't get to play last night, but I'm looking to do challenge and arena quests this week if anyone wants in.

I am interested in this.

My sleep schedule is all over the place, and that has been delightful. Just ping me whenever you're getting on, and if I'm not in the middle of something else, or unconscious, I'll hop on with you.

Monday again? Linear time is out of control!

I'm good with whatever; as usual, I'm good with the lowest MR setting the agenda. Get everyone what they need and have some fun hunting!

PS4, like 5pm PST.

Wasn't Monday like 2 days ago? Oh wait...

Started playing this yesterday, was playing it with my bf. Enjoyed the first few hours at least and can see getting my teeth into it, although they don't really make the co-op seemless do they?

It gets better once you've seen more monsters. The locking out of people from doing quests together until they see monsters by themselves uniquely. The gathering hub is also better in the expansion, along with a few other small concessions to smoothing over stuff.

So is the advise to play the story missions solo and then team up for the rest?

No, its not advice. Its just an observation of the nature of the clunk. For my girlfriend and i, we both started the same story mission separately, then one of us would quit, and join the other after the cut scene happened. Once monsters started repeating (optionals, events and investigations, we just joined from the gathering hub together.

The story content is considered the "tutorial" part of MH. It's all about the hunting. Once you're doing Investigations and Guiding Lands hunts, it's all seamless.

Ah ok, I got you. We ended up doing the same story mission but seperatly despite both been on at the same time. We did one hunt together, we both had the same weapons though (duel blades) and since I normally really like playing quick builds in games, I'm trying to convince him to try something else

Alternate quick weapons: Insect glaive -- more movement
Sword and shield -- more responsive movement
Bow -- movement from a distance.

Longsword is pretty quick, too - at least, interruptible animations.

I do agree that it's frustrating that World doesn't cleanly support going through the whole campaign co-op. Especially early on, I wanted to group up with friends and keep exploring. but we kept getting split up by the mandatory cutscenes.

That being said, you only have to wait for cutscenes with Assigned Quests, and that's like, 50 quests, ever. A lot, but far from the majority of what you'll be doing. Although I do think it's unfortunate that there's no option of 'immediately do another quest with this group;' you'll almost always be returning back to home base, selecting another mission, and waiting for people to join.

Time for more Monday hunting. Special holiday hunting! Around 5 PST on PS4.

I'm geared up for the high-end stuff, hunting AT Namielle or Kulve Taroth. But I'm also good with anything anyone wants to tackle. I do have a lot of crowns that I still need, if you feel like huntin' elder dragons. At least that should get me some more investigations with a chance of having right-size monsters.

Won't be able to make it tonight, have fun fighting high level stuff without me holding you back!
