And one of the tiers is called “Cap’n Hector’s Mercy”.

Feel bad about never registering the original EV:O? Select this reward tier, set at the price of the original game, and Cap’n Hector might forgive you!

I watched 2 trailers and still barely understand wtf this is, but for $7.49 and your recommendation I bought it anyway. It's like Space Rangers? Plus an adventure game? I dunno.

Most of the money I am saving on gas and tolls seems to be going to video games and books.

I got 16 good hours out of 3030; once I finished the plot I didn't feel like working the system more to rack up extra money since I had a ship and gear I liked, but for the ten bucks or whatever I paid for it (right after the big update) it was absolutely worth it.

Welcome back to another week of spacey gaming, my friends! This week, we'll be primarily diving into the newly-released 4X, Pax Nova, plus likely another Avorion outing as well!

Moving on from pre-recorded content, here's this week's streaming schedule (please remember, all times are Pacific):

  • Monday - 9:00 AM-12:00 PM, Star Fleet II: Krellan Commander stream. 2:00 PM-4:00 PM, The Black Masses stream
  • Tuesday - 9:00 AM-12:00 PM, Gears Tactics stream. 4:00 PM-6:00 PM, space survival games live podcast recording.
  • Wednesday - 9:00 AM-12:00 PM, Nira Stream.
  • Thursday - 9:00 AM-12:00 PM, Nations At War Digital stream. 4:00 PM-6:00 PM, Abyss Crew co-op LAN Party!
  • Friday - 9:00 AM-12:00 PM, Mass Effect 3 stream. 4:00 PM-6:00 PM, The Hunt for Red October Discord movie night!!
  • Saturday - 9:00 AM-11:00 AM, Beyond Extinct stream.
  • Sunday - 9:00 AM-11:00 AM, Human Fall Flat stream.

You can watch any of these streams live on Twitch, and you can see all of our planned upcoming streams and events on our calendar, as always!

No op-ed this again week, brain again wasn't feeling it. It basically would've been me talking about how much I love Bloody Rally Show and Intergalactic Fishing.

That's it for this upcoming week, my delightful friends. Stay safe and healthy, keep social distancing, and I hope to see y'all at something!

So today during my Star Fleet II stream, I saw something both amazing and infuriating. An enemy frigate took out one of my escorts and then bolted. I was both furious and fascinated, so I emailed the developer – who I’m working with to bugfix the game for an eventual Steam release this year – whether it was a bug, or if it was working as intended. This is his reply:

It wasn't a bug, but it was not a programmed hit & run tactic. There is a battle computer for all ships in which they look at all enemy ships in the vicinity, the firepower of those ships, their power and weapons, i.e., situational awareness, and will make a decision on whether to attack, stay, or run (it's not just three options - they have various tactics they can employ). I think what happened is that the frigate was determined to fight (which took out your escort), but then maybe got hit in return and decided its power was too low to continue and so headed back to starbase. Since it was so close to the edge of the system, it seemed to disappear when it jumped. Another possibility is that it only detected the first escort and decided to attack it, but when it got closer and saw your ship and other escorts, it decided to get out after letting loose its phasers and torps at your hapless escort. There is randomness in the battle computer, so that the enemy are not predictable; it's like matching different personalities of different captains.

Hope this clarifies it. It was a hit & run attack, but it's something the UGA captain did, not me.

I am literally in awe at this.

Nice!

Aaaaand that's what's missing from a ton of games these days.

OMG there's more:

One more thing. It's not just the ships that have a battle computer, but the torpedoes use a limited one as well. I noticed it in your game today. When an enemy torpedo was headed towards an escort, it diverted to your ship instead of a closer escort when its original target was destroyed because your ship was a higher priority target. Each time cycle, the torpedo evaluates the battle, and selects the closest best target unless you have given it a specific target. If that target is gone, then it will pick its own secondary target.

I'm gonna pick this one up, definitely. Seems even better than back in the day.

Friends, next week I'm going to try something different. 1. I'm going to start streaming at 6 AM Pacific instead of 9 AM. 2. Three hours is a baseline, if I feel like going longer, I go longer. 3. If a game doesn't engage me after an hour, we move onto a plan B. VODs like Game of the Week will remain unchanged for now.

Sounds good. Wish I had more time during the workday to watch and listen.

Hell yeah I'll take some more Drox.

Not sure it's coming out this month. I asked Stephen about it and he said that date's not supposed to be public.

Then he should have managed his Steam page better!

If he needs beta testers, he knows where to find us...

Welcome back to another week of spacey (and other) gaming, my friends. We've a pretty busy week ahead, with a look at the fascinating space action adventure thing known as Astrela Starlight, which will go live at midnight on Monday as I write this. I also plan another Avorion video and more as I have time and energy.

Moving on from pre-recorded content, here's this week's streaming schedule (please remember, all times are Pacific). Please note the earlier start time, as I'm experimenting with a 6 AM Pacific start time this week, and streams might go longer than three hours if I feel up to it:

  • Monday - 6:00 AM-9:00 AM, Star Fleet II: Krellan Commander stream.
  • Tuesday - 6:00 AM-9:00 AM, Wild West and Wizards stream. 4:00 PM-6:00 PM, space survival games live podcast recording.
  • Wednesday - 6:00 AM-9:00 AM, Rune II Stream.
  • Thursday - 6:00 AM-9:00 AM, Train Station Renovation stream. 4:00 PM-6:00 PM, Deep Rock Galactic co-op LAN Party!
  • Friday - 6:00 AM-9:00 AM, Mass Effect 3 stream.
  • Saturday - 6:00 AM-9:00 AM, Guts and Glory stream.
  • Sunday - 6:00 AM-9:00 AM, Dogfight 1942 stream.

You can watch any of these streams live on Twitch, and you can see all of our planned upcoming streams and events on our calendar, as always!

This week's op-ed is a long rant about how chaos and entropy both knocked me down and brought me back up this past week, and how it's affecting my streaming schedule and more.

That's it for this upcoming week, my wonderful friends. I hope to see y'all at a thing! Stay safe and be well!

Had my first death in Star Fleet II today. Game does not f*ck around.

Guys, $11.23 for Bridge Crew with its Next Gen DLC is a STEAL.

Today was the first day and it was SO TOUGH getting up, so much so I started 15 minutes late.

However, it ended up being great! Some new followers, new subs AND 23 viewers, which is a lot for me. We'll see how the week continues,. It it's off to a great start.

Thanks for asking!

Cloudpunk is really good! Veloxi, your last couple of game recommendations have been very tasty. Thank you!

No op-ed this week. Starting at 6 AM all last week killed my brain, but again, it'd likely be all about Bloody Rally Show and how awesome it is.

That's it for this upcoming week, my amazing friends. I hope to see y'all at something! Stay safe and be well!

Veloxi, watch a building video or two for Nimbatus ship construction. That helps a lot.

I don't wanna.

No, I mean... The principle is really simple.
