Oh, nice. Is there a particular reason for that?

Not sure! TT games had this post about it, and they don't really mention a reason: https://www.ttgames.com/2020/05/15/t...

If Kassandra riding a unicorn doesn't sell you on AC: Odyssey, I don't know what will. And yes, the pink/purple hoof trails are continuously and dynamically generated, and it's faaaaaabulous! Best 5000 drachmae I've spent, by far.

In our house it's pronounced Luh-Loy-Duh. Day.

Cosmic Star Heroine is on sale on the Switch for $1.49 (not a typo). It's a JRPG created in the style of something like a Chrono Trigger or a Phantasy Star 4.

I have not played it, but I've heard it's name float out there since it came out as something that's pretty cool. The general upside isit has nice music and visuals, is well paced, and it's only supposed to be about 10-15 hours long for those who don't want every game to go 60 hours. The complaints I hear are about cheesy writing and the game throwing a number of characters at you that just aren't all that useful, but for the price, I'll certainly be grabbing it.

I got it for $3 last month. Also got Guacamelee 2 at the same time and decided to play it first.

But Cosmic Star looks great. Looking forward to a sub 15 hour RPG.

I've heard the misc. battles can drag on a little bit, but I'm still really excited to give it a shot. Thanks for the heads up!

Honestly, more RPGs need to be < 20 hours. I don't always have the time for 50+ hour epics!

Seems like it is a reasonably good game. And for 1.50 it was kind of a no brainier.

For PC Cosmic Star Heroine is one of 8 games in Fanatical's Very Positive Bundle 2. The whole bundle is $3.99!

I grabbed it on Switch, although I feel very positive about the Very Positive Bundle 2.

Civilization VI is free on epic.

10 Second Ninja X is free on Steam. Fun little platformer.

Always missed on this release.... so, this is excellent.... might also jump on the $10usd coupon for AC Odyssey... might be the next week free game? or is it too much to ask?

The list of free games allegedly leaked back on the 15th. It was:

  • GTA V (May 14)
  • Civilization VI (May 21)
  • Borderlands: The Handsome Collection (May 28)
  • Ark: Survival Evolved (June 4)

EDIT: Clockworkhouse'd

I think you're more likely to see a game with a big new-ish DLC as a free game upcoming. That's the strategy, release the base game for free because sales have tailed and hope you hit a 10-15% attach rate on your DLC that's priced at $50+

Candidates for that criteria would then be:
Monster Hunter World
Cuphead
Fallout 76
Rage 2
FFXIV
Call of Duty WWII
Division 2

I guess AC:Odyssey fits in there too because they have a bunch of DLC to buy but I think they're getting enough pickup through discounts and Game of the Year bundles to make it not make sense to go free.

I am super interested in the Epic pricing structure for these freebies though. If I had to throw a wild guess out with literally zero information, just how I'd structure the deal, it'd be something along the lines of:
- We release your base game for free, for every DLC$ over $500k you sell we get 15%, if you don't clear $500k we make up the difference or something like that

Probably a discussion better had for the Epic Store thread than here, whoops!

Exactly. All of these whining and complaining and they still take the hand out.

Fallout 76 wouldn't be a candidate. The new Wastelanders content is just a free update.

I still don't have an Epic account, so I have yet to take a single one of their free games.

But I'm also not protesting them or anything. I basically own everything they've given away that I was interested in.

Absolutely I will complain. Just like I complained about steam/uplay for 1-2.5 years. I have only had epic for a few months here. I haven't even installed a game yet, you gotta give me time to adjust. This isn't like GOG where they brought old dead games to the table.

Am I ever going to play a free epic game? Or a free twitch game? or a free humble game? or a free steam game? or a free gog game?

So many free games and so many angry old man emotions. Change is scary.

Say what people want about Epic but something like Fortnite (older gamers may shudder) facilitate the boys in my son's grade communicating remotely during social isolation times.

Also, my only complaint is that they're sometimes giving away games which are already in my library. How inconsiderate!

To be fair, Twitch gives out some really sh*tty games, most of which I've never heard of before.

Out of the 167 free games I got there are like 20 I have played (on other platforms) or would like to play eventually and only have on twitch. What's that 11 percent success rate?

Say what you like about Epic, the quality and quantity of freebies they're giving out is impressive.

This was almost what happened with The Division 2. It wasn't free but pretty close ($3) when the Warlords DLC dropped last month.

I mean WoW and other MMOs have more or less done that with expansions forever.

Same, though not because I necessarily have all of their free games, but more because I just don't want to bother with it, and I play most of my games on console now anyway.
