Conan Exiles - Crush Your Enemies, See them driven before you!

Seems we're on to season 2 of the DLC's, that Turan one was the first with these others to follow...

Treasures of Turan Pack (out now)

Riders of Hyboria Pack

Blood and Sand Pack

Mysteries of Acheron Pack

There's also a season pass available so you can get all of them for the price of 3

Hmm, think i'll take a break for now, had started building roads in the city but the game engine just cant handle it and kept crashing i'm afraid.

Its been enjoyable in that itch to scratch way, but after 14 bases and 4 miles of roads and bridges time for something new.

Yeah - the level of post-release support for this game is insane! Of course, I don't know just much long the tail of sales is here, but I'd figure the large majority of those who were to purchase the game, already has?

Anyways - I'm happy with it - lots of new stuff to do and have fun in Co-op with!

My brother purchased it after the free weekend. We've been playing together for several days and really enjoying it. I had played last summer and burned out after a few weeks. This will probably happen again but for now it's great fun.

I'm a little disappointed at the bugginess, stuff I remember even from last summer, like guys you shoot just standing there letting you kill them in some situations. We fought that putrid snake boss and it refused to do anything but ranged attack my brother even though he was behind cover, so we and a thrall archer we brought just easily pincushioned him.

Still, the last session felt like a proper adventure. We geared up and head out to explore. We discovered the Sinkhole and our first Obelisk. We decided against jumping down. We went further and found the Black Galleon. After making a camp to fall back to we assaulted the Black Hand pirates. We were driven back after a bit but we got some good loot and xp; made our way back home to finish off the night. It was a ton of fun.

There’s a lot of little books and crannies to explore for sure in the game. The hole you speak of has an entrance that isn’t the sacrificial one but it’s definitely not where you’d think it’d be. I do love all the little tidbits they threw into the world, even when it was first going and I was hunting for all the obilesks that tell the stories of the world.

Cool. I know they had some serious technical trouble getting mounts working. About a year too late for me to be interested, but hey they'll be there for next time I come around.

did they fix regular combat? was always kinda janky, can't imagine it working well while mounted.

I like the gameplay and concept of this game a ton but don’t have time to do what I’d really want to do, it’s just too long of a runway.

Can anyone recommend any similar games, preferably single player, that you can feel somewhat accomplished in with spending 30 hours first?

That's kinda the nature of survival games. Most other equivalents have the same long runway. If you want to forego the combat side of things you could check out Astroneer, Subnautica or Satisfactory.

TBH the ramp up in Conan isn't that bad. There is a "creator mode" with unlimited resources.
Aside from that, within a few hours you can build pretty substantial buildings. They are just limited to stone and branches.

Also, if you are only interested in singleplayer you can create your own server and adjust the rates of xp and drops to your taste, lessen the ramp up.

Ranalin mentioned Subnautica and I wholeheartedly recommend that. It's got more of a story focus than Conan and after 30 hours you will have at least one large base and probably several other minor ones scattered around.

Also, and i don't think it's readily apparent to new players is that the quickest way to level up and progress in tiers is by exploration. 80% of my xp gains were exploration discoveries. The rest was combat.

You can get to max level in a couple of days this way.

That's a great tip i was not aware of. Thanks

..and it’s a really cool world to explore, so it’s really not a chore to even do. All of the small storytelling events that add flavor to the world is really cool.

I do recommend modifying your server settings to accelerate things. Not just xp but carrying capacity, resources on hit, and enemy health.

The game is not tuned for single player. After a bit I was also just using the debug spawner and flying to be able to build because that ended up being the most fun part to me. I built some really cool castles and towers and pyramids.

But I don't recommend just doing creative mode. It's fun to play properly for a while and mostly earn what you're later cheating your face off to get.

I wanted to try out the new thrall management system and mount and pets in Conan Exiles. Tried playing locally but game kept crashing while i had it minimized. So i went ahead and started up a new server (i had a left over credit on Nitrado so no big deal)

GWJ Exiles is now open

Thanks dude

so i haven't played in over a year (animal taming had just come out), how has the game come along?

Running around on a mount feels good. The game is still on the flaky side. The ability to control thralls feels good. AI is still shaky, but they're super OP. I'm definitely hooked again though. Building another base up north in my old spot.

Is there still a server for GWJ on this? I just picked it up from the free weekend and am digging it so far.

You are a saint for not saying "Scroll up four messages!"

Ha! I don't have to be an asshole ALL the time

Appreciated. I have a lil house near noob river - is there a clan on the new server we can join to share resources and such?

Not created one yet. There's been only like 2 or 3 on before you joined up. If you want, go ahead and create one and i'll meet you to get invited.

My first base that i used till lvl 30 is just south of the Black Galleon along the river at the bend when it starts to run east/west.

I'm unable to join in because I'm limited to (solo) PS4 but I'm glad to see activity in the thread.

It's been about a year since I last played, and I didn't progress out of noob river, but I really enjoyed my time with the game and I think about it often, sometimes even thinking about my little river island while falling asleep.

The soundtrack is also really good! River Exiles is my favorite. EDIT: oh, wait, I think my favorite is Relic Hunters. Eh, they're both really good.
