Don't Dwarves have a "turn to stone for a bit" racial?

They do. Stoneform is a temp +10 percent damage reducer, and it removes poisons and diseases and whatnot. You can still move around after you cast it. But if you cast it while in flight ... yeah, you might plummet like a stone.

I know a goblin who can sell you a parachute. ...

I doubt it. Best I can tell, the GM of GWJ Horde changed the name and whittled the guild roster down to his toons, more or less.

I'm keeping the lights on at GWJ Alliance. We sometimes have 2-3 players on at once! It's nice and quiet over there.

Ok thanks Enix!

Who's the GM on Blackhand Horde these days?

If you search the WoW site for Gannon (or maybe Ganon), I think you'll find what used to be the GWJ Horde guild. It's under a different name now. I don't think Gannon has posted here in a while, and I don't know if he's playing WoW.

There's a GWJ Horde guild on another server, but I don't remember how or why that got started or whether it's active.

If anyone's interested in starting a GWJ Alliance (or GWJ Horde) guild elsewhere, DM me.* Franchise opportunities available!

(* Don't DM me; just do it.)

Looking at the Guild names, Ballinor or Bel (on character note) is the guild master. Last online 1 year ago and the guild name is Disorderly Conduct.

Alliance invasion in Voldunai for the next ~3 hours...
MOAR rep please ;P

Anyone know how to get a second lvl 400+ one hander for my DH?
I have a 385 and a 410. Everything else is 420 so it would be nice to get those last pieces.

I have geared several toons just through world quests. Just this weekend one and two handed weapons have been available at level 415.

It's a painful wait. My new 120 enh shaman is ~i395 - but with a pair of i310 maces. Ugh.

Sometimes the emissary chests award weapons but those seem pretty rare.

Maybe an M0 dungeon? Or an LFR?

There was a WQ for a 1h mace. Unfortunately it was in Boralus so my horde DH could not get it.
It was much better than my DK's current weapon (which was also a 1 handed) and sadly I am running unholy so while I'm mostly functional, I'd love a 2 hander to roll too. (good news is that my death knight was pretty easy to get up to 380 after a very slow start)

My DH is 420 with a maxed out heart (only the one essence though...) She just totally owns things!

Also, does it seem to anyone else that WQ's seem to spawn slower or are less prevalent? So many of them are just azerite or gold rewards too...

edit; also, what do you guys do with all your old azerite gear that you can't sell?

fangblackbone wrote:

Reforge it for my secondary or tertiary spec.

Once it's through with that, run it through the scrapper for Titan Residium and crafting mats that I can sell.

Yep. This. On my Horde toon, where my priest is an engineer, I just hang on to the cloth mats from scrapping until there's a turn-in quest.

Speaking of WQs and weapons, there's one for Ally in Stormsong. I upgraded a 310 mace to a 410 axe.

Now I get to wait 2+ weeks for the next upgrade via WQ.

Now I get to wait 2+ weeks for the next upgrade via WQ.

This, ugh!

Apparently you can buy and upgrade benthic weapons + armor (385-425) in nazjatar but you need gear to be able to survive there.

I guess it really doesn't matter to me on alliance since I am no longer going to grind rep for mechagnomes. They are a cool design but Blizzard screwed the pooch on the mechanical legs clashing with practically every armor look.

I am less than 5K from exalted with the vulpera

Benthic is armor only. No weapons.

Honestly, benthic gear is best these days to be scrapped or DE'd (or sold, if you need gold). But you need an OK'd geared 120 for that strat.

When I get alts, I use 410 gear that dropped for me in the corrupted zones, then plug the gaps with Benthic, then use WQs and emissary chests for rings, trinkets and other upgrades. I can be at ~420 in most slots a week after dinging 120 if I do a few quests each day. Not hard; just tedious.

The big bottlenecks are the neck piece (which takes forever to level) and weapons (durr), esp if you need two or an offset.

I'd do better if I ran instances like the game wants me to. I have to be in the mood, and I'm usually not.

Doing dungeons is so easy to get into but I hate that I am the total noob in them. I feel like everyone else has run them dozens of times and I am just clasping for their coattails.

But if you are getting an alt to 420 in a week, then I guess I am on a similar pace. So I get some comfort in that, and thanks!

Re-subbed to and it only took 6 days to get pathfinder 2. The rep bonus makes both of the 2 reps go so fast.

Now is a great time to level alts. With heirlooms my resto shammy is getting about 2 levels per LFG run. Up to 49 so far. Will step off that train when it's time to run through Legion.

Well, seemingly unintentionally, I am almost BFA pathfinder 1 complete. I am 1/3 of the way through pathfinder 2 so I should be flying in BFA within 2-3 days.
Likewise, I am ~2K away for voldunai exalted. With some lucky invasions or follower mission rep tokens I will get my 8 fox alts that much quicker...

My "main" druid is now 97. Draenor is actually really fun. The mix of world quests with quests is IMHO how the came should be. You should not have to quest through an area to unlock world quests. I think Blizzard has the recipe: invasions, wq's, and story quests. They just need to not gate it behind rep or faction or level or time or content patch...

I think they are getting it. I think they understand that the way to introduce cool things like warfronts and expeditions isn't to gate them because you don't want them to cause story to be ignored and then make sure your story is long, convoluted and threatens to retcon itself. The way you introduce them is to shorten the story and make it accessible so that players can have their story cake and eat their wq's and expedition too.

Talanji and Zandalari are the 2 factions I need for bfa pathfinder. Talanji is essentially done as I have a mission due in 4 hours that will net me the ~600 rep I need. Zandalari will be finished tomorow after just a few wq's. And Voldunai is at ~1800 to go so with some luck I can run around as a fox tomorrow for my birthday (50th, ugh!)

Draenor was really well received when it first launched. The questing there is generally excellent and garrisons were quite fun before the loneliness set in. It's remembered as a poor expansion because the post-release support wasn't good. When you're leveling through it then moving on to Legion you're seeing the best bits and skipping the stuff everyone disliked.

Good to know and I can definitely see that now. Draenor does seem very light compared to Legion which has:
a new class
allied races (added) - does that count towards BFA? technically it was patch 7.3.5
artifact weapons
class halls
suramar (added right?)
class changes

I'm bummed for the long patch time. Talanji's is done. Zandalari is just a few short wq's away. And voldunai is under 1400. So it is possible I could get my birthday wish

I think Allied Races were a BFA design that capitalized on the way Legion built their NPC races, so they back-ported the feature to Legion where it made sense.

Warlords, including the runup to Legion, has the misfortune of being the first expansion that actually went according to plan. Every one prior to it had taken much longer to develop than Blizzard meant for it to, which caused them to increase in scope as the previous expansion needed more content to help fill the space. Warlords by contrast only had about what it was "supposed" to. And since an entire raid tier patch's worth of art assets were poured into the Garrisons instead it feels especially light on the ground.

Legion had more resources thrown at it for some reason. I think there was an anniversary aspect to it. I also suspect they thought it might be the final expansion, or that things would at least slow down quite a bit afterwards, so they planned it as kind of a "last hurrah" for the game. The ultimate defeat of Sargeras and the Burning Legion caps off the major story arc that started with the original Warcraft. Then it did well enough to turn things around, and the expansion train continues...

Legion being the final expansion is a really interesting thought. It makes a lot of sense, especially things like the redemption and closing of Illidan's arc.

BTW Furry Fury Fox Fires are GO!
I am now totally going to name a vulpera fjuri...

edit: and done, fjuri the vulpera hunter lives! (honestly how adorable is the vulpera child in the cinematic?)

So I found a character, BE Hunter, that is so abandoned that not only was it flagged for a rename, but I found out that it is both in GWJ Horde and had arrows in inventory! The other funny thing is I got the notification that my talents had been reset, and then after setting them and relogging in, it prompted me that my talents were reset again ;P

That is some serious cobwebs!
I probably have one that has been shelved longer: on Dark Iron I had a level 17 undead mage that I haven't touched since probably before Cataclysm. It was one of the 2-3 characters I made on a PVP server and Dark Iron was definitely still a PVP server when I abandoned the character. It is another one that was abandoned and well before Cataclysm.

Nothing like being hunter back in the day and running out of ammo ...

The foxes are so awesome. I've got it bad.
I'm leveling 6 alts at the same time:
32 priest
35 hunter
27 warrior
35 mage
26 monk
22 warlock currently playing (soon to be in the 30's)

edit: and warlock is 31...
edit2: The mage is the real surprise here. Well and the priest too. I have struggled with those classes a lot but some subtle bfa patch tweeks to arcane and shadow specs have made their rotations pretty comfortable for me. And I still can't believe my druid is 101 now. OMG if vulpera could be druids... (and paladins, and demon hunters...)

Fox priest is now ~41
I told myself I wouldn't do a rogue or a shaman because I was saving shaman for maghar orc (which has stalled at 27) and the rogue was my first boosted character, the one who unlocked void elves and was my highest gear score character until I resubbed a few weeks back.

That lasted all of 2 days after unlocking foxes. My fox rogue is now 34 yet I am still holding fast on the shaman... so far

Warrior is now 32
Warlock is now 34
Monk is 32
Mage and Hunter are still 35

I must say that Hillsbrad is a great leveling area for horde. Stonetalon is second best so far. Ashenvale has some really good revamped bits but they are scattered and somewhat isolated from each other. It is like a collection of 6 half done plots does not make 3 complete stories.
