NFL 2020: Draft

Derek Carr finally going to have people to throw to.

Anfernee Jennings?

But they call him "Penny", right?

Packers really aren't drafting for 2020. Feels like they just drafted their Aaron Jones replacement (whose contract is up after this year).

2021 is going to be great.

Just f*cking end this year.

Goddamn, Trey Wingo, why you gotta do Santa Cruz like that?

Spoiler:

I mean, it's not wrong, but still...

And the Boardwalk, with one of the world's finest wooden roller coasters, the merry-go-round from that one Dirty Harry movie, and the best saltwater taffy you can find anywhere.

Can anyone recommend me some good NFL journalism? The official site is dreadful (although I do like their Around the NFL podcast), and being on the other side of the pond I don't hear where the good stuff is by word of mouth.

So NBC Sports Philly has four or five headlines trying to make heads or tails out of the Taysom Hill role. Doug Pederson, of course, has his rationale, but commentator Reuben Frank believes the Eagles do not have faith Wentz can stay healthy as a career Quarterback. My old man is on the stance that 2017 proved how valuable a back-up can be, and Nate Sudfeld is not reliable enough for that position.

However, talking with him this morning it was brought to light that Eagles lost Malcom Jenkins because money. Now we have... hold on... Jalen Mills in his position?!

Signing a linebacker on is the first draft pick that doesn't come with any controversy, but even then, reading that write-up makes it seem like the Eagles aren't even considering 2021 or 2022, they're considering 2025 or something.

Bleh.

Ugh. I accidentally watched the first 5 minutes of the draft on ABC today because I was playing something on the Switch and didn't notice it was on TV.

Can anyone explain why, for the love of everything, the first pick of the day gets any time on the clock?

YOU'VE HAD 3 MONTHS, 20 HOURS, OR 16 HOURS, depending on which day of the draft it is. Are you really telling me your goddamn pick isn't ready?

Stop wasting my time with this bullsh*t.

Also why the f*ck is this thing 3 days?

Even now, sports starved as I am, I'd rather do anything else for 3 f*cking days.

Trent Williams to the 49ers for a future 3rd and current 5th.

Way to go, Washington. Good job ruining Dwayne Haskins' career.

Joe Flacco hated having Lamar and taking plays off.

Course Joe Flacco's kind of an ass, while Carson Wentz seems a nicer guy.

Flacco pretty much took all of last season off.

The Packers IG account is getting brutalized in the comments.

Response? Post a picture of Aaron Jones and that he was a 5th round pick.

Trust the process?? I guess. Please. Ugh

Joe Staley retires. Super disappointing, wanted him to get another shot at a ring this year.

And then they go and just grab Trent Williams for a 5th and a 2021 3rd.

A 3rd and a 5th.

Texans spent two 1sts and a 2nd to get Tunsil.

Granted Tunsil is 25 and not 32, but still. Hot damn.

Pats draft a kicker in the fifth and he's a three percenter. So that's fun.

8 WRs were drafted in the 5th so far.

The Packers are not one of those teams that selected one.

Niners trade Matt Breida to the Dolphins, and Marquise Goodwin to the Eagles.

Goodwin tumbled down the Niners depth chart last year, but he's got the sprinter speed to come on the field and run some 9 routes.

Breida was the odd man out in the Niners backfield. Fast as hell but fumbles caused him to end up in the Shanny doghouse.

Good cap clearing moves.

Broncos go FRESNO STATE and take Netane Muti.

I'm a big fan of The Ringer. They usually write some pretty smart stuff.

For nuts and bolts (who got traded, fired, hurt, etc.), ESPN.com or Pro Football Talk.

If there's a team you really like, try the team site. Most teams usually have a few associated websites that do news and analysis. Some are better than others. You just have to watch the ones that are too rah-rah or hypercritical.

Thanks, The Ringer looks like just what I'm after.

So much WR depth in the draft this year the Packers figured why even draft one.

Let's go Devin Funchess.

The Ringer is one of the few sites that makes my reading list.

The Athletic (subscription based), Pro Football Focus, and Football Outsiders are my other main stops, along with Pro Football Talk for the news feed and rumor mill type of stories.

I used to love The Sporting News and Pro Football Weekly print publications, but the latter is long gone, and the former has become web-only and no longer offers the same quality. The Athletic is really the new Sporting News.

Srsly? Who does that? Then the 1st on a QB. I'd be pissed as a fan.

I mean there may not even be a season this year, so this might pay off

I'd put the chance of their being no NFL season at approximately 1.67%.

Playing in front of empty seats to a TV audience only is absolutely a possibility, but the NFL just showed everyone what lengths they will go to to produce and sell their product. Anything short of the virus resurging to the point of bordering on societal collapse, and the NFL is gonna find a way to play and make their money.

I agree.

There will be football.

Will some of us be fans after whatever lengths they go to? Maybe not.

I guess FAs could still be signed but ya wow.

The Packers WR unit while Davante was down was pretty abject.

There's some talk that the RB/TE picks shuffle the offense closer to LaFleurs vision which is less WR dependent.

Offensive guru Matt Rhule uses all seven of the Panthers draft picks on ...

... defense.

Carolina is the first team in the common draft era (since 1967, in other words) to pick nothing but defenders.

Not sure if that deserves a /highfive or a /wha?? Probably both, weirdly enough.

I would put the odds of a 0 week season much higher than the odds of a 17 week season.

Football Outsiders. Still.

If you’re looking for some informative, fun, easy reading I’ve always enjoyed Peter King’s weekly articles: Football Morning in America

Saints negotiating a one-year deal with Jameis Winston.

Seems logical; he's got a long history of throwing passes to people in a Saints uniform.
