So that's a yes?

Maybe?

Not pushing it, I just listen to music when I play, was wondering if there would be interest in shared listening.

On another note, I came across this plugin for Bakkesmod that creates multiplayer training sessions, I'm going to try setting it up. I think it uses another plugin that allows you to play the custom maps/modes like Leth creates.

This game mode might actually be fun if everybody else playing it wasn't a grand champion.

I had a lot of fun playing Heat Seeker with Dorkmanship tonight. I think I really like this mode so far and I know he loved all the demos he got. Took a while to get used to the curving ball but I have it figured out now. It would be a good mode to play with a casual lobby where you know everyone and no one is taking it very seriously. Ran into a few randoms tonight who were far too invested in winning.

So there's a new game mode active for less than one week and free items for logging in while it's active?

I guess there goes my "not playing in April" plan.

I was confident in taking a month off because I could come back and do the weekly challenges I missed no problem.

Short timed events are annoying

Just played two games and loving playing forechecking/demos while the other two play the ball.

Super fun. I'll be on tonight!

The strategy that usually worked for us was Dork pressuring their defenders, me playing pure defense, and our third either going for mid field redirects or covering me when I was being pressured. We picked up a rando at one point who was amazing at redirects.

Man this is some weird ball paths. Whew.

I don't know if I like it or hate it.

The video thumbnail clearly shows what FlamingPeasant has been up to

I was trying to do redirects in Heatseeker:

Great redirects!

Its the 20th Heatseeker is over now?

You hate it. It took me about 3 minutes to figure it out for myself as well. If i'm going to circle around looking like an idiot I might as well play standard because at least I can hit the ball while circling around looking like an idiot.

I’m a big fan of anything that points out what I need to improve at and also gives me opportunity to improve. I’ve always used the alt modes and workshop maps that way.

Heatseeker has been a great way to work on my demo avoidance and recovery.

It’s also just fun.

That's fair.

For me, this last sentence is all that matters, and it wasn't fun for me.

Definitely.

It took me a while to get into it the first night. Initially I couldn’t block anything and I was angry at it. After a little bit it clicked and now I’m hoping it becomes a regular mode as I’d probably play it a lot. I don’t think I’d want it ranked tho as a lot of the fun was going in and playing without worrying about winning or worrying about mixed rank teams.

Rocket League feels like it’s too focused on ranked these days and not enough about crazy fun. See my previous post about casual modes.

Yeah, I was a little lost until I figured out being aggressive in the box meant goals. If you approach it like a regular match, it's no fun. At times i found myself just driving circles in the midfield which was no fun and not effective. It is a very different playstyle which I found interesting and appealing. Not just in the bumps and demos which I really leaned into. It felt like racket ball to me with the ball speed. I like the team kickoffs, that really opens the door to different strategies and it would be interesting to see that in other areas. Ones maybe to minimize kickoff goals?

It wasn't perfect, but it felt really different to me and I dug it. Definitely an aspect of that is that it rewarded a playstyle I enjoy and am good at. I'd love to see it come back, I think it would be very interesting to see how the meta-game evolves for it. Just in a few days you saw changes with the bumping strategy.

Leth did a custom tennis map for Heatseeker. His video of it is an interesting microcosm of the demo meta.

They are adding Boomer Mode into the mix!

I may actually try DropShot Rumble...

We'll see you tomorrow then!

Looking forward to Boomer mode as well.

Would anybody be interested in trying out custom maps? I've been wanting to try Lethamyrs Sumo/LastManStanding mode.

It looks a little bit involved to setup, but not bad. Basically a host sets up a virtual network and a local RL server. So players would need to install VPN software to connect.

I'm game to set it up if anybody would be willing to jump through some hoops to join me.

Do people prefer when I wait a few weeks and make these longer (totally on purpose and not because I forgot to do it...) or are the shorter weekly versions preferred? Kinda seems like people are clipping a lot more often these days as well.

I'm definitely clipping a ton, it's fun sharing the moments. Thanks for pulling them into youtube so we can get them here too. Weekly highlights are fun if you get to it, but no pressure.

Lots of nice clips. My favorite is probably the save at 37 seconds. Kudos to whoever that was

Pretty sure that was Crumbo.

Nope that was mine.

Crumbo watermarks his clips with his name (at bottom left).

How would buying credits help you win a game? You just use them to buy cosmetic stuff or entry into the rocket pass.
