uuuuuuuuuuuuu............hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

That looks a lot like Cantha!

OMG

Factions killed my life back in 2005/6.

SQEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!! I'M SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I haven't played GW2 in years, but having a lot more time to spend at home lately I decided to get the Path of Fire expansion. It's been pretty fun so far, despite barely being able to remember how to play. I had enough WvW points to unlock the Mirage spec so have been running around the desert in power gear blasting everything with greatsword laser beams.

Oh awesome! I've been playing my Mirage a lot more lately, and I've been having tons of fun aparating all over the battlefield. Good times. And you have to admit that mounts are the bee's knees.

The mounts are beautifully animated, it'll be a while before I have all the masteries for them. Similar to HoT, you have to go back to areas with new movement skills so that you can reach previously unavailable areas.

Re-open daycares and I'd join in!

Oh, I know. But simply having the basic raptor is immensely helpful to navigate areas, I find.

Getting on for two weeks later and I've been through the Path of Fire and Living Story 4 quests now. My aim was to get caught up on the story, and then to go back and work on the metas and achievements for the zones I enjoyed, and that's mostly working out.

In terms of pets, I have all now save for the Griffon and Skyscale. War Claw took the longest because of the WvW reward track. Here's my latest:

Does anyone have the Griffon or Skyscale? I'm wondering whether, practically speaking, they're really worth the 250g or map currencies ... I don't tend to accumulate gold in-game very quickly. I trialed both and liked the Griffon best, Skyscale seemed very awkward by comparison. Both have quite restricted flight abilities.

Griffon's dope. It's utility is actually limited because there are so many changes in elevation in Guild Wars that as you cross a map the ground comes to meet you. But it's still pretty fun. And the mission is made to pull the heartstrings if you played Nightfall.

I took a long hiatus so I can't speak to the Skyscale.

I mostly made my gold selling mats because I don't craft. I did a bit of Silverwastes farming for some extra. You make more if you have a level 60 character because tier 2 mats are worth more than tier 3.

^ Thanks and interesting that the T2 mats are worth more. I think last time I played it was all about the heavy crafting bags.

The griffon is definitely worth getting before the skyscale, absolutely. The skyscale is on my to do list, but I'm told it's even longer to get than the griffon.

And yes. Heartstrings were most definitely pulled.

Yeah, I think it's because the vast majority of characters are level 80 because it's so easy to level with tomes and boosts. So players levelling crafting need lower level mats more.

I had my tiers off, per GWspidy 2+4 are all pretty valuable. Tier 1+3+5+6 are largely valueless.

Tier 1 copper 86b
Tier 2 Iron is currently 1s 84b
Tier 3 Gold is 57b
Tier 4 platinum 1s 89v
Tier 5 mithril at 39b
Tier 6 Orichalcum 90b

Fabric scraps have a similar split.

Silverwastes is a fun area too. The events are fun and challenging.

Yeah, the Silverwastes is, but I spent hours and hours there running the meta when the content was new! I had to go back for one of the roller beetle collections and it's still populated. I was interested to see they'd done something similar with the Dragonfall map.

I have the gold for the Griffon (provided I sell some material stocks) but have held off for the moment until I can get the bounties done that are needed for its collections. So far these just don't seem to be done with any regularity, outside of when they pop up as dailies. Bounty trains do seem to still happen but it's a 'in the right place at the right time' sort of deal. So I might get it done eventually (along with some of the specialisation collections, which have similar requirements).

Some of this is just inevitable in being late to the party, though it does seem like something needs to be done to keep the Path of Fire content relevant. The maps were nice to play through but don't have much longevity outside of the collections. The much older Heart of Thorns maps are still really active by comparison.

Yeah, I think they're going to need to rebalance PoF for smaller group/solo play, it's not super difficult overall, but the bounties are life running into brick wall. Are you using the LFG tool? That can be handy for trying to get stuff rolling.

Hoenstly, between the megaservers and the lockdowns all over the world, I have rarely seen GW2 this populated, and at all hours of the day. MrD is right, the ingame LFG tool is your friend. Worst case scenario, you can always ping one of us chuckleheads. I'm always happy to help (time zones and offspring permitting).

Maps are reasonably busy, especially when the meta events are up, the issue is more that there are certain events and bounties - needed for some of the collections - that nobody seems to be very interested in doing anymore. It only becomes obvious when you're trying to do those specifically. I suspect it'll help when these come up as dailies and they're being focused more.

To celebrate Guild Wars' 15th birthday, there's a free cape available in the gem store today. Get it while it's hot. The prologue to season 5 is also up for grabs if you haven't unlocked it in the past.

Welp, started over and bought a new account (can't recall where I stashed my old one, and would rather start over, since it's been 8 years).

Had apparently forgotten how easy it is to just get sucked in. (Will help that I'm not playing on a laptop that caps out at 20 FPS.)

Yay!!! Welcome back! Be sure to give me your account number so I can tag you into the GWJ guild.

I've been really enjoying the Icebrood Saga so far. The focus on the Norn and Charr is welcome, and the story writing seems to have come on a lot from previous living story seasons, which were always a pain point for me. I'm now up to date with GW2 story and maps, and awaiting the next installment.

Oh, and I finally unlocked the Griffon. It took about a week of regularly checking the PoF maps for two events (Legendary Facet and Deadhouse), but they got done eventually. I looked into the Skyscale requirements and nope ... too much time investment required considering I don't intend to 'main' GW2 now.

Ooo, sure! Aeazel.8236

Invite sent. I'm not sure how active GWJ'ers are Stateside, but I'm sure you'll find a few around.

Okay, the recent activity on this thread, coupled with the expansion sale has lured me back in. Leveled up my ranger to level 30 and used a few boosts to get to 39. I'm thinking of using my level 80 boost at this point since I kind of have a enough of a feel for the character now to not be totally lost when I do so.

Biggest question I have right now is how do I go about getting a mount? Running all over the place is getting pretty tiresome.

you need a lvl80 character, then you unlock the Raptor by playing through the first Path of Flames mission.

the other mounts will be unlocked by completing specific quests and collections throughout PoF and Living World season 4

Bear in mind, that first Path of Flames mission doubles as a check to make sure you are at least minimally well set up and competent at level 80. So take some time to learn the ropes of your build.

I discovered recently that level 80 boosts aren't created equal: most professions receive Soldier (power, vitality, toughness) gear when being boosted to 80, which isn't that useful unless you want to go straight to WvW. Thief however, receives Valkyrie (power, vitality, crit) gear, which is quite expensive to buy from the trading post, and is quite usable (I'd suggest using the armour with zerker weapons and trinkets).

I learned this the hard way when I took my under equipped Engineer though after not playing it for a few years. Woof it was hard, when I strolled through with my Mesmer.

Yeah. Get some good gear and practice the skills, it's easy. Go in cold, like you and I did, and you start to fear what comes next. (In reality, though, the gliding and raptor stuff they added around that time did wonders for the game. Great fun.)
