Escape from Tarkov - Catch All

I've heard from various videos, streams, and sites that they have a couple of maps to left to finish - particularly Streets of Tarkov, which is going to be the penultimate map. They are also looking into an audio rework, and possible voice interaction (though Nikita is pretty negative on that). There's been discussion of an open world, and much longer raids like having to fight your way through Streets of Tarkov to get to the Labs.

That sounds pretty cool. I just hope it doesn't take another 2 years.

I've had a couple of rough days in Tarkov. On Thursday I only had one successful raid out of like five or six raids. Then, last night I kept disconnecting, usually at the beginning of a raid, and kept reconnecting, only to disconnect again. I finally just gave up and called it a night. Not sure if it was on my end or theirs (if it's their's, then I take back what I say about it being a finished game -- LOL!).

Getting really low on gear to take out my PMC.

Question, all the guides say to use BS ammo (for AK), but I don't see anywhere to buy it. Where can I stock up on BS ammo?

Once you reach level 5, you can buy it on the flea market. Until then, there isn't a source that I know of, unless you manage to find some in-game. It's also crazy expensive, like 1,000 roubles per round, so it's generally best left to the thick-boys. 5.45x39 BP and BT are decent on penetration and do more damage, and they are reasonably affordable (BT less so these days). If you like the DMRs, pretty much anything with 7.62x51 M80 is good enough.

What you'll find is that generally the community prioritizes penetration over everything to an insane degree, and ammo is really a lot more complicated than that. High-pen ammo for a new player is a trap, because it costs a lot and you're probably going to lose most of it without firing it. Go with the medium stuff, or high damage / low-pen if you're confident you can hit legs and heads.

If you're low on gear, do scav runs - you can get some good gear that way, usually better than you can afford for your PMC when you're starting out.

Lessons From Tarkov: Earlier in the week I went on a couple of PMC raids. Being very new to the game, I died. But before leaving I was smart enough to buy insurance for my crappy gear with Propor and Therapist.

Then I didn't play for 3 days.

When I signed in there were 4 "emails" waiting for me. Two said my items could be picked up. The next two said I waited too long to collect my gear and so I forfeited it. Live & learn.

I know it's a demanding game but WTF?

General PSA: the slow peek does not work. Don't do it.

Definitely go for the repeek though.

Another PSA: They are compensating players for recent server issues to the tune of 1 million roubles. Log in and grab it.

New Tarkov player here, if anyone is interested in joining up to learn this game together or as a sherpa, let me know. I'm located in the EU and play mostly on friday or satuday nights.

I am starting out relatively new myself, but I am in California, so the timing likely doesn't work. I tend to play around 9:30 pm PT.

You're right, that's 6:30 am for me. Also latency is would most likely be an issue.

I am still getting my feet wet with the game, but STILL really enjoying it. One question I had for the experts is “how many guns do you keep in your stash?” In other words, do you try to keep X back-up guns available should you not make it out of a round? I am having a hard time keeping any open space in my stash for new stuff.

I upgraded to EOD like two years ago so i'm probably bad example. I keep the guns I enjoy but not usually the ones I don't. However, i'm pretty experienced so it is a lot different. It will take me another wipe with the hideout to really judge but I'd also guess somewhat early you would want to focus on upgrading your stash in your hideout.

Important thing to learn is while your still learning do not get greedy with scav. Learn scav exits. Go right near the exit kill 1/2 other scav's near exit. Grab gear and get out. Boom you have 2-3 guns for next few raids. Also would recommend getting good at one of the cheaper pistols and killing scav's with them. This allows you to always just buy a cheap pistol and go get better gun from a scav.

I only keep a couple of the guns I like. Bear in mind that if you sell something on the flea market, you can buy it back for pretty much the same price - the market is long-since saturated and flattened out.

Side note on that to everyone. Flea market is great for buying all kinds of things and selling also. However, a lot of weapons etc. are not worth it at all. Most people do not notice or do the math but 1/2 the time you can get more money selling a gun in pieces to the traders then what you will get on flea market + fee. People underestimate the flea market listing fee quite often for that.

Tarkov is now 25% off until april 4th to promote staying home.

There is still time to jump back in...the water is fine!

Any word on when the wipe is coming?

Wipe tomorrow.

Lots of updates and changes, but I don't see anything about the new large map?

New map isn't out yet unfortunately

Greetings all! I wanted to see if there were any GWJ folks out there still trying to achieve the escape. I picked up the game back in January, and it has easily been my most played game this year. I play 99.9% solo, and recently it seems as though 60%+ of enemies I come across are squads. I think it might be time to recruit some fellow escapers; "misery loves company" as they say.

Anybody out there need a death companion?

Oh man, I'd be down but I'm just not getting much game time in lately. Plus, I was never good to begin with either. I hope a GWJer crew comes together.

YES! I mostly played solo, but finally got my brother in. Duos end in various ways. escape, OMGOMGOMG both dead, and finally, "that was YOU?"

Normally either play post 9pm Central, or mid afternoon when I wanna just blow off work.

That'll likely be too late for me on weekdays, but I can make it work on weekends for sure. Feel free to add me on Discord (Gadzooks#9944)!

I love this game and would love to team up with Goodjers. I am about to build a new gaming rig, so until that is done (likely first or second week of December), I am likely not available to game. I am Pacific Time.

I haven't played in about a year. I did mostly enjoy the game, beyond the stress caused due to gambling gear, but I do have a few nit picks.

Armor - can be too good and I know they are going for authenticity, but watching streamers dump an entire mag at someone in armor who just laughs it off is kind of ridiculous.

Group Identification - I assume this is to try to balance the scales between a group vs solos. With only two character models and mostly same gear/camo.. it can be difficult to play with a group. I'd almost prefer the Battle Royale type systems of solos, duos, quads..

Sounds like a plan! I'm eastern time, so it looks like it might have to be weekends for us to get together as well, but we'll make it work.

It's beginning to look alot like, Tarkooooooooov.

Wipe happened on Sunday. I resisted until last night and reinstalled. So far I'm back to my usual poor gameplay, but maybe I'll stick with it this time. We'll see.

Feel free to send me a friend invite.

I was looking into this game but for single player not multiplayer. Has anyone tried the single player mod?

SP Tarkov

I was playing an indie game that had extract style gameplay but was only okay. This came up as the best option. I don't want to do multi as that's a bit too much stress for me. Before I pay full price on an unknown I figured I'd ask.

I've definitely been tempted, but am concerned about getting caught in a ban wave for modifying game files. I still get a hankering for MP every few years.

Road to Vostok is an SP game that is getting some chatter, but solo dev and it sounds like it has a ways to go. Something to keep an eye on.

Escape From Pripyat is a Stalker mod for Stalker Anomaly(a free download and install) and has some Escape from Tarkov elements to it.

I'm curious which SP game you've been playing.

The game was ZERO Sievert. Not first person and a much smaller indie game. But I liked exploring the random maps, dealing with the wildlife and mutants and such. Just still too unpolished in my opinion. Coop would be nice too.

Wound up trying Tarkov Single player. It works mostly but when you play you can sort of feel how it's designed around multiplayer. Some wildlife and non-human enemies would be neat. I'm also pretty bad at it even on easy settings. Getting killed very fast. Almost lost all my starter gear. Also half the gameplay of tarkov is inventory Tetris. And was making it so you have to examine items really needed. Even in the store.

Anyone have advice on getting SPT-AKI to work? It's a SP mod Rock Paper Shotgun recommended.
