Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Today was our first visit from the turnip dealer, and she's selling at 110 bells.

/sad trombone

Opening my gates for a little bit. Feel free to take any fruit but don't be greedy Also turnip prices are 95 if you want to take advantage of that.

Dodo code is 88YRL

Thanks! I took a few pieces of fruit. I didn’t see any pears, I will stop by again soon to plant one or two.

93 bells on my turnips. I'll open my gates sporadically so people can sell fruit at a profit. I'm a peach island. Need to get to someone else's island to sell a crap ton of peaches. I'll probably collect all my fruit. I have everything. Just let me know if you need any particular fruit for planting. Will save some of each.

Oh, I have all the fruit trees so I'm good but thanks for the offer!

I've never fell back enough to miss. I have slipped enough to only get 7 instead of 8. Seems it's better to be backed into your corner and turn towards the rock. Don't step towards the rock, just face it. The first hit is the one that pushes me back in the corner. If I'm not back there already it slows down the 2nd hit too much.

You are using the shovel right? I have no idea if the stone axe can get all 8. Never tried it.

Here was one screenshot I remembered to take tonight:IMAGE(https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EUPfbRVUMAA4qfC?format=jpg&name=large)

That must be my problem. I’ve been using the axe. Switched to the shovel today and got all my bells. That last bag is sweet!

I have my new residential services building under construction, and I'm curious to see the next phase of the game open up tomorrow. I suspect I may soon get the terraforming tool, which is good, because it will help me correct a mistake I made in the initial placement of my home--I built it on this sort of almost island, where I thought it fit neatly but turned out was maybe too tight. I'd love to build out a few more tiles of land and move the water around a little.

I've been frustrated by the fruit situation when using Nook miles to travel to other islands. I got some bamboo once and have picked up coconuts as well, but in at least ten trips I don't think I've once found a fruit other than cherries or pears. I need to diversify!

Sadly you're a minimum 5 days from teraform, probably more.

After res services, campsite. Then you have to invite the first sulky camper to move in. Don't make my mistake and waste a day thinking someone else will come.

That warning is for everyone. I'll spoiler the rest if people want to be surprised.

Spoiler:

Then you have to build plots of land. Then you finally get island ratings. Need 3 Star island rating for teraform. To get that you need 8 residents, so you have to build 2 more plots after the first camper. Then get animals from islands or campsite to move in. Then you may have to plant flowers, trees, build fences, place items outside, various other things that isn't Isabelle suggests to get 3 Star rating. Then finally KK will come and you'll get island designer.

I'm still days away and I've only made one day mistake, mentioned above. Playing as efficiently as possible here.

As to your island woes, that matches the polygon and other guides. Nook islands are restricted to your starting fruit and one other fruit. Those are the only 2 you will get. Technically that's all you need for money, one foreign fruit. But obviously boring.

To get the others you will have to visit us people, sorry.

Oh nice price.

I'm torn on stalk market this week. I got 400k in the bank and interest will come up on Wednesday. I'm currently saving up and not expanding house or paying off a ramp because I wanted to do that after interest day.

But if I could get a good stalk sale on Monday or Tuesday could do even better in the bank. I just don't want to miss that guaranteed interest payment.

Just made my first turnip purchase, about 60k bells worth. I hope I don't forget to sell them!

I passed on turnips as she wanted 93 bells each, which seemed high.

I've used Nook miles 3 times to travel to other islands, and each one has had peaches, my native fruit. I have picked up coconuts though. I got another Nook miles ticket today for opening the remodeled residential services so I may try again.

Ah that explains all the peaches.

Millions of peaches, peaches for me.
Millions of peaches, peaches for free.

90 is as cheap as you can buy them.

Yeah the sell prices at Nook's go down to 50 but such is life.

Here's a long, but mostly useful, tips thread on twitter.

I learned a few new things. R trigger to speed up conversations. There's a flower cross breeding chart in there. Getting crossbreed flowers is why peacock butterflies suddenly started showing up en masse in my island 2 days ago. Customizing tools resets their uses before breaking (although hard to know when do do that).

Lots more.

Oh I wondered why the peacock butterflies were all over today. Thought it was just their time of season starting, though weird to be end of the month. My flowers have been generating black tulips.

I just got my first new person in the camping ground. Hans is apparently a snob. I am trying not to judge him before he moves in but I really want to kick him out now.

Smug.

It's different than the old female snob class, but I don't like them much either.

Everyone gets one for their 6th villager, first from campsite, and you have to take them. Just like your first two villagers are jock and uchi (sisterly).

Oh, I knew that your sale price for turnips would vary, but I didn't realize your purchase price would vary too. I bought mine at 90 bells, so sounds like I got the best deal possible. I'd get more bells from the ABD but my resident services building is under transition.

Stele, very interesting about speeding up conversation. This game is less annoying to me than other prior AC games but I still am constantly buttoning through text and get tired of it. Maybe that'll help? I do not understand why if you have one fossil assessed you can directly donate it from that dialog, but if you have multiple fossils assessed you can't. One of several things in this game where I just don't get why I have to press so many buttons to do something so simple.

I bought 235,000 worth of turnips at 93 bells a pop. Looking forward to selling those off this week!

Yeah there's some QoL improvements carried over from New Leaf. Like if you asses a single fossil then he'll take it. There's new QoL like auto stacking fruit and money finally. And there's now options for max transactions at ABD or with turnip buying.

But there is sorely missing QoL like the multiple fossils thing. And not having a count for recipes. If I have 4 clams just let me craft 4 fish bait at once, holy crap.

Good thing is this game is getting patch support for annual events so at least through next Feb. Hopefully in those monthly updates they can work on a few QoL things too.

I'd love a QoL improvement for splitting a stack of items (e.g. taking 5 off a stack of 10 fruit, or taking 20 off a stack of 100 weeds, to sell for the respective Nook Miles quest).

And if I have a workbench in my home, please let me craft using materials in storage.

Yes. They have it for money, you can make bags of 100, 1000, 10000, etc. But not for other items.

And why do I have to buy 5 flowers in the store? Can't I just have a counter from 1-10? I get a daily quest to plant 3. Am I going to click through buy, thanks, more, buy 3 times? No I'm just going to buy 5 and be stuck with extra. Little Nooks bleeding me dry, 2 flowers at a time.

And yeah, crafting from storage is baffling for not including within the home. That's the tradeoff, if you want to carry a crafting bench with you all the time, then you can only use what you have on you to craft, very fair. But come on when it's in my house with all the 300 closet space...

Yeah, I appreciate that there have been some significant QoL improvements in this one, but it does raise questions about why they picked those improvements but not others. Very Nintendo.

The inability to use house storage materials while out and about crafting with a workbench is pretty frustrating.

Definitely an unfair comparison, but World of Warcraft has been letting us do that for like six years.

It's like yay 40 inventory slots!

Oh wait if I carry every tool, a bench, the basic crafting materials (no gold nuggets or bamboo), bait, and medicine, that's TWENTY SPOTS!

So thanks for nothing.

What I really want to know is that after all of these AC games, why isn't there a special toolbelt separate from regular inventory? At first, I was excited by the tool ring, thinking it was exactly what I described only to find out it just helps us get to our tools without opening our inventory, but does nothing to help organize the clutter. It's even worse now since tools decay since the slot you normally use for your tool becomes open and a random butterfly or clump of weeds hops into it.

Anybody getting good turnip prices yet today?

I'll be playing at lunch in a few minutes and love to get that out of the way.

Yeah, definitely one of the more infuriating things is that your tools take up inventory space. Heck, I'd rather the game just give me 8-10 fewer inventory slots and then make my tools not count towards them if it came to that. I occasionally decide to keep a few things in storage while going out to maximize my inventory space, and it seems I will inevitably then discover a new bug or something that requires the tool I didn't bring with me.

85 bells per turnip? Bleck.

78 bells here ... lol

My guess is that they don't go up on average till later in the week. I need that $$ to pay off my 500,000 bell home expansion! I'm hoping I can double my investment at least.
