Animal Crossing: New Horizons

If the spot is bad no tree will probably grow there. Maybe flowers?

But at least you can move the tree and not lose it completely now. In the old games it would just be dead and you'd dig up nothing.

Is anyone good at making Memes?

I want to make one of that lady who says something like “ this is the problem with video games, they just make a fantasy”

And then have a picture of Tom nook saying “ The date is March 28 and there is no news Today. “

Anybody got the pitfall see recipe yet?

Apparently you can get it by digging one up. So if one of us gets it, very easy to share around.

I'm surprised I haven't fallen into a pit yet and found one that way. That's what usually happens.

Sahara in my town. Opening gates for a bit.

My daughter had a mind blowing realization:

Tom Nook isn’t a raccoon. He’s a tanuki. It’s even right there in his name!

How did I miss that?

So got Celeste last night, while Vivi was visiting. She gave both of us the wand recipe but no shooting stars showed up. I sat there playing for another half hour after she left but nothing.

Apparently even though she tells you how to wish on stars there's no guarantee they show up that night.

If anyone gets a meteor shower in your morning announcements let us know and maybe open gates after 7 so we can come wish.

Yeah, I spent way too much time looking at the sky the night Celeste showed up. Didn’t see a thing.

I've seen shooting stars for a couple of nights, but I don't remember getting an announcement about it.

I had shooting stars two nights ago -- the same night that Celeste was around. No morning announcement or anything else though.

Apparently you can get 2 or 4 randomly, supposedly in pairs. I played a little more and finally saw 1. But must have missed the pair.

Then the meteor shower is a whole separate thing where there's an announcement and a bunch show up. And it doesn't coincide with Celeste.

Gates open again for 30-60 min, or baby wakes from nap, hah.

Shaking trees with net from bottom seems best for allowing a net swing on wasps, which are worth a pretty penny.

I did three holes behind me to keep from moving while shoveling rocks. Seems pretty foolproof for getting 8 hits in.

In what pattern? I’ve tried the two holes diagonal and still get pushed back enough to miss.

Also, apparently I have a money tree now? I dug up a bag of bells, was full, so buried it again to come back later and it became a sprout. Dug that up and it’s a fruit tree symbol with money on it. Planted it near my house to see what happens.

Posted rock tips back here, with a gif.

Money tree only grows once this game. And you can bury up to 10k and it will triple.

So yeah you should be gaining 20k every day starting 3 days after you find the first one.

Daily things:
Money rock
Money tree
Fossils
ABD machine for nook miles streak
Shake trees for one free item and some bells
Harvest and sell foreign fruit
Check shopping at ABD, Nook's, Able sisters
Water flowers if not raining

Oooo! Cool!

Leave the eight spots around the rock empty and then dig a row of three holes just outside of the eight on any one side. Get in between the middle hole and the rock. The two holes on either side keep you from popping out as you slowly move to either side but don't block a drop.

Hi all,

We just joined the Switch family recently and I picked this up. I haven't ever played an AC game, but it seemed like a nice change of pace right now. SW-4138-7567-4110 if you want to add me.

Does anyone have the ironwood dresser diy recipe? I need it to make the ironwood kitchenette.

I think we need the same.

My wife finally used her island ticket and now we have Flurry moving in tomorrow.

I can't believe we have 2 hamsters and 2 hippos out of 7 animals.

I just looked I have an Iron Closet. It's raining in my town today so I caught some snails. No dice on a Sturgeon or Stringfish yet. I think someone else mentioned they hadn't caught one yet. Now have oranges, peaches, and coconuts. Need to work on getting the other fruits.

Does anyone know how the birthday event triggers? Today’s my son’s birthday, but all we’ve seen so far is Tom Nook saying it was his birthday.

Do you have to make enough progress first?

I’ve tried doing it just like the gif but it doesn’t work for me. Does it have to be that exact corner of the rock? Maybe that’s my issue.

And thanks for that daily checklist. That’s handy!

No any corner works. The idea is that are 8 spots around the rock. You want all clear of weeds and flowers. You stand in one of the 4 corners. And you dig 2 holes, one either N/S and the other E/W, to make a corner away from the rock. Then you turn diagonally toward the rock and hit. You get knocked back into the corner between your two holes.

Now in this game you get fences to put down outside. So personally I've been using 3 fence pieces to permanently make my rock corners around the island. That way I don't have to dig every day. Also you can just put 2 fences in the same Cardinal directions, but if you go outside and put down a corner one it looks nicer.

I'll see if I can grab a screenshot tonight.

I was also lucky enough to get 2 rocks so near each other they share a common corner. So I put a Z fence in between for both. It's beautiful.

That’s exactly what I do, both holes and now a corner fence, and I still get knocked back far enough to miss... not sure why but at least I know I’m setting it up right. Keep trying

I've never fell back enough to miss. I have slipped enough to only get 7 instead of 8. Seems it's better to be backed into your corner and turn towards the rock. Don't step towards the rock, just face it. The first hit is the one that pushes me back in the corner. If I'm not back there already it slows down the 2nd hit too much.

You are using the shovel right? I have no idea if the stone axe can get all 8. Never tried it.

Here was one screenshot I remembered to take tonight:IMAGE(https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EUPfbRVUMAA4qfC?format=jpg&name=large)

Hey Stele, did you ever get any star bits?

I’ve got a few extra of the small size in storage if you need some. Afraid I don’t have any larges though, so you might have to source one of those elsewhere to make a wand.

Edit: Wait, I might have made two wands, because I had the recipe for a bamboo one. I‘love check when I sign in later.

Only 1. But I did get the bamboo wand recipe from a balloon yesterday. So I guess I just need 2 small now?

But I only have one bamboo planted and it hasn't sprouted anything yet. I certainly won't get 6 young spring bamboo out of it today if it's sprouted.

Looks like I've actually got a large one, as well as the small -- I think I was going to make the normal wand and then didn't?

Either way, I got you.

Are folks using Discord to coordinate? If you'd like to get together now I'm online and could open my gates (or bring them to you, either way).

Edit: On, and I've probably got some extra bamboo too if you'd rather make that version.

Just made my first turnip purchase, about 60k bells worth. I hope I don't forget to sell them!

I have my new residential services building under construction, and I'm curious to see the next phase of the game open up tomorrow. I suspect I may soon get the terraforming tool, which is good, because it will help me correct a mistake I made in the initial placement of my home--I built it on this sort of almost island, where I thought it fit neatly but turned out was maybe too tight. I'd love to build out a few more tiles of land and move the water around a little.

I've been frustrated by the fruit situation when using Nook miles to travel to other islands. I got some bamboo once and have picked up coconuts as well, but in at least ten trips I don't think I've once found a fruit other than cherries or pears. I need to diversify!

I am also trying the stalk market this week. I spent 100,000 bells figuring my fruit orchard will be ready sometime this week.
