Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Wow! The museum is huge!

I'm just glad I wasn't in charge of gathering enough wood, iron, and stone to erect that museum.

Anyone got a decent turnip price today?

So I finally found a duplicate fossil, what should I do with these? Do I just sell them?

Edit: Apparently I am too much of a hoarder... My house storage is completely full constantly.

In New Leaf you could collect all the fossils for a dinosaur and have Cyrus make a miniature display for your house, but I don't know if anything like that exist in New Horizon.

Right now my house is full of fish/bugs that I need to turn in once the museum opens.

I dislike that the tools are consumable. Look, I get it that you released on the same weekend as a big Bethesda release, but that doesn’t mean you had to copy Fallout 76.

I also dislike that the axe that doesn’t break every six strikes also chops trees down all the way, and I have to wait three days for a new tree to grow in its place.

I’m not sure whether I like the fact that traveling to the island consumes Nook Miles, which appear to be finite, saving for the “you got 100 Nook miles for catching a rare fish” variety, which only mean I have to burn through dozens of fishing poles to earn the 2000 miles needed to go somewhere that has more iron than my current island.

I like that the trash you catch while fishing is actually useful for something more interesting than flogging for 5 bells.

I very much like that the fruit stacks by itself.

And I love that you can donate batches of bugs, fish and fossils to the museum instead of each individual one.

Also: SPOILER ALERT

Spoiler:

Don’t build a ton of wooden stakes thinking that you’ll be able to make multiple bridges at first. You get one at the start. Be careful where you put it.

If you make the Stone Axe instead of the Axe, it will not cut down trees and have a considerable durability increase. Granted, if I chop every tree on my island, I go through 2-3 of them, but I probably don't need to stockpile that much wood.

On the note of tool durability, is there a way to tell how much durability a tool has left or do you have to guess?

Guess. And that's one that bothers me. But then again just carry around a workbench as one of your tools, problem solved.

After the first 8 or 9 days when resident services upgrades and you get your 2nd pocket upgrade to 40 slots things really smooth out.

First hybrid flower is a pink rose. Now to make my rose garden.

Does anyone have a good tutorial for designing pro clothes? Either for New Horizons or New Leaf? Discovering I can scan QR codes from New Leave & Happy Home Designer has gotten a bug in my ear about making some fine new threads

Anyone else write a letter to their future self? How far in the future did you send it?

Gates open for 30-60 min if y'all want some oranges. Also tailor shop opened today so buy some clothes if you want

Your island is beautiful so far. Thanks, Stele.

Thanks, it's coming together. I spent a long time planting orchards.

Glad I hung around. Finally saw, and caught, my first tarantula! Had a wisp show up after 9pm. Caught a couple fish that are leaving soon. Fun night

FYI, fish and bugs leaving after March. You got a week if you want to keep your museum as complete as you can.

Edit: This list of fish is different. Not sure who is right.

Edit 2: I think the first list is correct. Going by Twitter replies to the 2nd, cherry salmon and a couple others aren't leaving yet. But I like the format of the list with fish shadow sizes. It's much more helpful if you're looking for something specific. So I'll leave it for now, and maybe they'll update their article.

Thanks for the head's up!

I think a tarantula jumped at me. I nabbed him when he reared up. I didn't even like the idea of carrying it on my virtual-self, so i ran to the Museum as soon as I could to donate him. Good riddance.

Also, the same night a spider dropped out of a tree and I'm done playing at night. Haha.

There's a black bug with white spots that I see on tree stumps that I CANNOT catch! What's the trick there? I've tried sneaking up, I've tried running up....

Is there a way to add Switch friends via the web? I'd like to add more of you for AC, but it's slow going doing it via the Switch.

I've seen a lot of complaints about the way ACNH handles multiple players on the same console, but I have to say, it's working nicely for me. My 8 year old daughter is way into this, but as the secondary player, I can let her play for a few hours without me without getting too worried she'll do something to mess up my island or advance stuff in the game before I'm ready. Granted, it'd make sense for this to be an option that could be toggled, but it's working for me at least.

Don’t think so; Nintendo’s goal is to have the best online experience that 2004 has to offer.

My dodo Code by the way is NMH75. Love to have my first visitor!

Are you sneaking with the net out? You hold in A and can only do a slow walk with the net cocked and ready to swing. Then you creep closer and release A to swing and catch.

Best to do it in handheld mode. Use touch screen to type in 12 numbers, it's about as quick as can be.

Do those codes stay the same after you close and reopen gates? Can't play now but will be on later.

RE fish list. 2nd link has updated correct fish now. Maybe I can link the image directly...

I caught a couple sturgeon on a Nook Miles Island last night. They're huge! Only one I'm missing is the stringfish.

I've been pretty surprised at the timing window every once in awhile. There have been a couple times when I miss the strike even though I'm pretty right on it. Are there rare fish that have a shorter timing window? Unfortunately, it makes me real jumpy now so I'll strike early on accident sometimes. That achievement for catching fish in a row is gonna be effin hard. I think I've got halfway to the 50 one.

Yeah some fish have always been quicker than others, usually rare ones.

If you didn't know, 5 bites is the max. So keep counting and if they only nibble on the 4th you can definitely get them on the last bite.

I feel like that streak counter might count separate ones in a row. Like a streak of 5 here plus a streak of 10 here. Because I got the 50 one last night and I'm sure I've missed fish even in the last day or two.

Sometimes I'll close my eyes and only strike for the fish when I hear the splash sound. It helps to keep me from reacting when I see a fish dart forward to pretend to bite.

Sweet! Thanks for the tips!

Shook a tree and a wheelchair fell out. It was troubling. Needless to say I sold it in hopes that the curse would be lifted.

Nooklings are paying 502 bells for turnips at my place. Store is open until 10pm Eastern.

Holy crap why didn't I buy any this week?

My daughter shook a tree earlier this week, and a quarter of a boxing ring fell out. I don't know what sort of island we've colonized, but given that one of our NPC islanders looks like a Luchadore Bunny, I think I might be getting some idea...
