CoD: Warzone - Catch All

Pages

Since this is a f2p standalone i'm creating a separate thread from the Modern Warfare one.

I'm looking forward to playing it. Been playing some Warface lately, but this looks better. And it's free. What's not to like?

The Gulag (only in Battle Royale)

Upon your first elimination, you will be taken as a “Prisoner of Warzone” and thrown into the Gulag. There you will await your fate and watch other prisoners fight to the death. When your turn is up, you’ll enter the Gulag and face-off against a single opponent in a 1v1 to earn the ultimate reward - redeployment. Win in the Gulag and earn redeployment back into Verdansk. Lose and hope that your squad completes Contracts and earns enough in-match Cash to redploy you.

Contracts

Contracts are objective oriented tasks players can find and activate across Verdansk. A squad can activate one Contract at a time and completing it rewards you in-match Cash and other loot items. Multiple types of Contracts exist including Scavenger Contracts where you have to find and open a series of Supply Boxes and Recon Contacts where you must secure one location, similar to Call of Duty’s Domination mode. In addition to in-match Cash, Contracts can give you special rewards like the ability to see the next circle collapse location before it starts to close.

Seamless Play

Call of Duty: Warzone shares Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s crossplay and unified progression. For players that already own the full version of Modern Warfare, all content already earned including Battle Pass items, Operators, weapons and customization items will carry over to Warzone, and all progression earned in Warzone will counts toward overall Modern Warfare progression. For players who do not own the full version of Modern Warfare, all progress and items they’ve earned in Warzone will be rewarded across Multiplayer and Special Ops in Modern Warfare, should they ever choose to purchase it.

There are no level caps in Warzone. Jump in.

In-Depth Information On Downloading

For owners of the full version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Warzone will replace the previously named ‘Classified’ panel in the Main Menu. A one-time early access will give Modern Warfare owners the ability to download Warzone at 8AM PDT. For Modern Warfare owners who are current and have the most recent title updates, the download will be a 18-22GB. Once download is complete, Modern Warfare owners will “unlock” the Warzone panel, which was previously classified, and can enter the lobby and play.

For non-owners of the full version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Warzone will be available to download free in respective first-party stores starting as early as 12 PM PDT. Head to the store and search for ‘Warzone.’ Choose Call of Duty: Warzone to download. Warzone is a 83-101GB download for new, free-to-play users. Download could take up to several hours depending on bandwidth, service provider, additional regional factors and will vary by platform.

You do not need to own the full version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare to download, play and enjoy Warzone. Call of Duty: Warzone is free for everyone.

Looks cool, I’ll play it! Hope it has the legs.

I love BRs, so I'm excited to try it. I assume I'll continue to major in Apex, but why not? I love that it's cross-play!

Also love the f2p bit. I've never played a CoD.

Looking at around 100gb download for those not owning Modern Warfare so chances are I’ll be on Wednesday.

Solos!!!

I’ll give it a go.

Where did you see that? Multiple sources are saying squads of three only at launch.

Time stamp 0.40. Hope it's reliable.

I'll be playing sometime on the PS4.

Client is live for download!

Why's it only 9.something GB? I thought it was going to be a huge download..?

If you own the core game and have stayed updated then it was a 22gb download, and if you kept Bnet open it probably downloaded in the background. Brand new F2P folks will have to download 80-90gb

First impression from watching during lunch: These matches are gonna be really long. Big map, big population, tons of revives (including one for free).

I don't own the game or anything, it's just showing as 9.37gb to me on the store!

I couldn't get it downloaded. There are widespread reports that all Xbox downloads are going super slow. Weird if related, but my podcasts and even a digital comic I bought have downloaded extremely slowly this afternoon, as well (on my phone and iPad, respectively, not a console).

I am playing it on the PC. EdgarNewt on Battlenet. Friend me up.

Right, this is an absolute mess of a launch.

So, I don't own any previous CoD games. Went to store to download Warzone. It's 9.37GB. OK, downloaded it. Launched it. Can't actually play anything as it's all locked off. Little installation progress bar in top right corner has been on 0% for 40 minutes. No idea what's going on.

Finally work out I can play boot camp against bots so give it a go. Yeah, it's CoD, it's fun. But still, installation on 0%. It's not moved since downloading and opening the game.

This whole process has been so badly explained and delivered its put me off bothering to pursue it further.

What a joke. Why couldn't we just download everything we need from PSN? It makes zero sense.

The fact we can't also suggests we can't leave our PS4 in standby to download the rest of the bloody thing or play something else whilst it's doing so!?

Absolute waste of time.

May want to check PS4 focused forums. I've seen PS4 players in lobbies so it is working for some.

Got in a few games last night. Overall it's fun. I really dig the Gulag mechanic and the store mechanics (esp buying your buds back.) I think it can give the current BRs some decent competition.

My main issue is armor, while it isn't as hard to break as it is in Blackout, it definitely increases TTK substantially. If you don't have the most amazing recoil control and tracking, it can be frustrating as your adversaries get away. As with main game, I assume controller players will have an advantage with strong auto-aim systems.

Not sure how good anti-cheat is, but I assume it's lacking just like in Modern Warfare.

TTK had to be increased compared to the base game. It's insanely quick otherwise. I actually like the system they implemented here.

Also i can assure you that the controller players with auto-aim having an advantage is a myth.

I have around 2500 matches in the base game so far and the controller players have never been a threat. The only time i hate seeing controller players is when they're all on my team and it's TDM or Kill Confirmed because i know i'm going to take a loss unless i step up and personally overrun the other team.

My biggest issue with the game are the Loadout Vendor drop and Killstreaks.

Killstreaks are obvious i think. UAV while annoying the cluster strike and air strike are just OP especially within the final circles.

The Loadout drop makes the scavenging part of the game a bit pointless. The game essentially is to find 6k as quick as possible so you can call in your own personal kit and then it's just armour, ammo and then money so you can revive.

I spent an hour downloading and about ten minutes playing this. It promptly reminded me why I don't play shooters any more, even though I love them.

I have a friend who insists he'll carry me if we play duos, though, so maybe I'll keep playing and maybe I'll even get better at it.

Multiplayer FPS is a muscle I have not exercised in decades. I lack the ability to read the terrain and spot enemies. I even had trouble juggling my weapons. Maybe it will come back to me, maybe I'm just too old.

One thing's for sure, it is aesthetically amazing.

This game seems (from streams) to make it harder than many I play (Apex, Destiny) to spot enemies. Which is cool, stealth is absolutely a good element in many games. I'm not sure it's going to work for me, and I'm thinking it might be particularly galling to me in a battle royale.

Finally managed to get on to this last night. I did the training then won the practice battle royale against bots, but by then it was well past my bedtime, haha. Hoping to give it a proper try later.

Had our first win last night!

Stealth isn't really an element in the game. There's no 'characters' involved so folks don't have a consistent look like the games you've mentioned. The rest is just map knowledge. Personally not really had an issue spotting folks.

Are there indeed solos and duos?

Sadly, no. I hope they show up soon and believe they were there in some of their earlier testing because lot of the content creators said so, and i swear i saw documentation that said the same, but there's no mention of it now.
