Playstation 4 Games Catch-All

I think TLOU might work better for me as a TV series!

I guess it makes sense to move Ghost of Tsushima away from a theoretical PS5 launch if there are a number of incredible launch titles waiting in the wings.

I'm not getting my hopes up for PS5 launch titles, but fingers crossed. It does look like the PS4 is going out with a gigantic bang before the launch of new consoles with FFVII Remake in April, TLOU2 in May, and Ghost of Tsushima in June , so you'd hope that means they have good stuff waiting in the wings not long after the PS5 launch.

Maybe try not getting so rattled by an article from The Hollywood Reporter

Launch exclusives are rarely good. The PS4 launched with Knack and Killzone Shadow Fall, neither of which are very good. Infamous Second Son was at least within the launch window, but despite being decent it doesn't get talked about a lot these days.

The last year of the PS4 is going to be a lot better than the first year of the PS5.

I'm also expecting the PS5 to support a lot (all?) PS4 games, so the boundary between platforms is going to be a lot fuzzier.

Absolutely; I got a launch PS4, then went back to mostly playing the PS3 for about a year before worthwhile games came out. I didn't even bother getting a launch PS3 until they announced they'd be discontinuing the model with full backwards compatibility, and even then, over a year into its cycle, there was still a drought of good games.

I'll probably get a launch PS5, but I figure I'll mostly be using it to whittle down my PS4 backlog for the first year or so. Hopefully with it I can get rid of the PS4 & PS3 taking up HDMI slots on the TV.

I'll probably do the same I did with the PS4 --get a PS5 a couple of years after launch. By then, there will be plenty of great games to choose from . Until then, there still are tons of PS4 games I haven't gotten to!

I still maintain that if a Demon's Souls remake is a launch title, I will be getting at launch.

I'd like to be in on Demon Souls from the start. Not sure how I'm feeling about getting the PS5 straight away. Wish they'd announce the bloody thing.

Yeah, something like Demon's Souls would get me to buy-in early, but it would need to be literally Demon's Souls or something of the same level of quality.

I went back and checked, and I bought my PS4 just over a year after launch. I came into it feeling like I had good options for what to play but not so late that I hadn't been able to enjoy big releases when they were new. That's probably a good time frame for me to aim for with the PS5, too.

I don't think I'll be able to afford a ps5 for a few years because of financial commitments. I'm hoping the Stadia team gets its sh*t together and gets a catalog on that thing. Xcloud is still an unknown.

Only reason I could afford a PS4 was a Gameguru liquidation.

Not even considering getting a PS5 anywhere in the vicinity of the next 3-5 years. The only reason I have a PS4 is that it was a gift, otherwise I may have only considered getting one at around a year or two ago.

That being the case, I will almost assuredly be a late adopter for whatever comes down the line.

I picked up my PS4 when Destiny 1 released, which was just about a year after launch. I'm more likely to pick up a PS5 at launch if it is fully backward compatible with all PS4 games and offers worthwhile performance improvements.

Or this.

I have a 1st gen PS4 Pro and the fan was mostly fine until I fired up the FFVII Remake demo. That thing roars. I'm looking forward to eventually getting a PS5 just to continue to play my PS4 games and have it be quiet. Dunno if I'll get one or be able to get one at launch. I got a launch PS4 and never regretted it because I dove headlong into AC IV: Black Flag. It was a grand time.

I may get a PS5 at launch. There are a couple determining factors. One being any issues with porting over PS4 digital games. I have such a backlog that I am barely even interested in PS5 games at this point (which I guess makes sense since we know nothing about launch titles). The other being any hardware issues. I bought a launch PS3 and needed to get it sent back to Sony twice. Then when I bought a PS4 at launch, the fan was insufferable. Even my PS4 Pro can get annoyingly loud at times.

I'm getting PS5 at launch, especially if all games are backwards compatible. I'm also curious how PS VR works with the whole new console thing. I don't remember how long into PS4 cycle I got in, but I remember the first 2 games I got was Assassin's Creed Unity and Driveclub. It must have been fairly early as Driveclub still had people playing multiplayer. It was also before Rocket League released.

Horizon Zero Dawn 2 and/or Demons Souls Remake at launch would make me get a PS5 on day one. Otherwise, probably not.
If you can play your existing PSN games on PS5, with improvements or similar (like PS Pro was supposed to, but didn't really seem to deliver on any game I cared about), that could help too.

In the PS360 generation, I bought both in the launch window because they were conveniently staggered by a year. This generation I chose to pick up the PS4 day 1 because of the goodwill the waning days of the PS3 instilled and waited to pick up the Xbox 6 months or so later when Titanfall released. Next generation, I think I’m going to reverse that and pick up the Xbox at launch and wait 6 months to a year for the PS5 because of my buy-in and satisfaction with GamePass. However, a new Souls Or Bloodborne at launch could change that calculation.

Same, or Spider-Man sequel.

Also, I read somewhere that the next God of War is closer than we think. Different director so I'd wait for reviews but it'd be a factor in when I buy the next console for sure.

At this point Nintendo consoles are the only thing I'm willing to buy day one. The only thing that could change my mind on that for PS5 for Xbox Series X is a new Yoko Taro game announced exclusive to next-gen at launch.

Everything else can wait for a sale after I've bought the console at a price-drop.

I really hope its Cory again but I've heard those rumours as well. Should still be fantastic though.

I got the original Playstation back in Xmas 97 & have bought every single one since on day 1, this will be no different.

I would love the Demons Souls remake to be a launch game (if that's what Bluepoint are making) & I'm really hoping Housemarque have their AAA game ready to go. I'm not sure what else will be good to go, maybe a new Ratchet & Clank (the remake was great) & will see how that Godfall game shapes up.

Getting better versions of Cyberpunk 2077, a PC style RDR2 upgrade & having all my back catalogue games (especially Rocket League & Uncharted 4) will make this hopefully the easiest transition into a new generation yet.

It’ll be so much better to be able to bring over games we’re still playing. I’d be tempted to play Red Dead 2 through again if it has better visuals, etc (and maybe better aiming and shooting.) Knowing the scope of the game I could relax a bit and have a balance of story missions and side activities rather than spending the first weeks with the game exclusively hunting, doing chores and having baths and then the rest of my play time ploughing through the story to the exclusion of everything else.

Exactly where I’ll be. I think I jumped to PS4 a bit early because I really wanted to play Shadow of Mordor with the nemesis system running properly, I’ll probably wait for the first price drop on the ps5.

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and Dirt Rally 2.0 are April’s PlayStation Plus games.

While they haven’t been officially announced by Sony, next month’s free games for PS Plus subscribers were revealed in a PlayStation Access video which would appear to have been unintentionally published ahead of schedule before being pulled.

Big win for me, though I’m not sure I’ll take to uncharted 4 if the first three are any indication.

Backward compatibility will determine when I get PS5. I will get it earlier if it allows me to (re)play some of the PS4 games that I dropped because I was annoyed with my aging PS4, its long loading times, noise, etc. Like God of War.

Based on what they've said I'd be shocked if God of War wasn't one of the day one compatible games.

It's got to be.

Dunkey + Shenmue 3 = a barrel of laughs. If you want to see how bad the dialogue is in this game have a watch

If anyone would like to try Uncharted 4's multiplayer give me or Spikeout a shout. We'd love to have a few (or even one) more people to team up with. We don't have regularly scheduled games it's just as and when we are free and we're on GMT but you'd be most welcome even just to give it a spin for a match or two.
