Welcome, and happy “53rd anniversary of Frank Sinatra getting a Best Album Grammy for Strangers in the Night” week! The fact that a crooner won in the year that Pink Floyd, The Velvet Underground, and Jimi Hendrix dropped debut albums tells you all you need to know about whether the Grammys have ever had their finger on the pulse.

Spellbreak is one of those battle royale games, but with wizards. The spells look like destructive fun, with large area effects. Those of you who actually play multiplayer can decide whether it’s enjoyable mayhem or frustrating chaos.

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX is one of those Pokemon games, but this time you’re a Pokemon, rather than the trainer. As such, you explore the crippling mental dissociation that comes from experiencing long bouts of suspended animation interrupted by brief spans of consciousness, during which you are compelled to fight, like the Winter Soldier. Ha ha! Actually, you explore randomly-generated dungeons and capture rescue other Pokemon.

Baron: Fur Is Gonna Fly is one of those single-screen, multiplayer battle games, a few branches up the family tree from Joust. If you’re thinking about it for the PC, take note: there is no keyboard support; you will have to play it with controllers.

Save Koch is one of those “solve a mystery before the time runs out” strategy-adventure games. You play as a mafia godfather who’s got a mole in your ranks, and you’re taking action to flush it out before your whole criminal empire comes a’tumblin’ down. It’s got a Game of Thrones level of violence, language, and gruesome character deaths.

Great British Railway Journeys is one of those virtual tourism games where they’ve put the iconic railways from the BBC show into Train Simulator (they were probably there already).

Broomstick League is one of those Rocket League knockoffs, but mixed with Quidditch. There’s no golden snitch or bludgers—you’re just flying around on a broomstick trying to zap the opposition goals—but it’s close enough.

Tom Clancy's The Division 2: Warlords of New York is one of those “spend the whole week downloading the pre-DLC update, then spend the next week downloading the DLC” DLCs. It’s big because they’re taking you back to Manhattan, setting of the the first Division. The big bad from the first game also returns. This is a chunky, new, late-game chapter, lifting the level cap to 40 and allowing you to roll a fresh level 30 character if you want to head straight to New York. It also promises a mechanical overhaul of key systems. Ubisoft is being cagey about the details, even to the proper journalists who attended the demo events. But they did mention tweaking the PvP aspects of Dark Zones, trying to create more incentives for people to cooperate—something it feels like every update to Division games has been trying to do. Also, after this expansion, the game will shift into Seasons mode, where Ubisoft will put out three-month-long themed events with their own stories and rewards. If you like what The Division 2 is serving, they’re certainly keeping the conveyor belt moving.

It’s another week with plenty of variety. Personally, I’ll be staring at the interminable Pillars of Eternity 2 loading screens on my PS4. If I could somehow drag myself away from this awesomeness, I’d check out Save Koch, to see how all its disparate parts hang together.

Thanks for the write up Felix, these are always really fun and informative and my go to on a Monday morning.

I am genuinely fascinated by the name Amoeba Battle and deciding what the game is in my head. I refuse to Google it so it can remain in my mind a 1 on 1 fighting game, with a variety of highly rendered single cell organisms improbably wield various bit of weaponry in a surreal take on evolution

Pathologic 2 is one of those weird ass open world horror games that I can't wait to dig into on the big screen.

Heh, I nearly wrote up Amoeba Battle this week ... it is not as exciting as you've imagined.

The cartoon art in the header... what game is that from?

Save Koch. You play as a Mafia boss who is, literally, a pig.

Here's hoping that the PS4 version performs better than the Xbox version. The Xbox version (at least at launch) apparently stopped to load every minute or two and had a lot of other bugs.

I played it on Xbox game pass long enough to unlock one of the GP quests. The experience was somewhere between annoying and forgettable.

No, yall, that's the game. It's super meta. (It's not. Just a joke.)

Bummer.
