Name that GAME Thread

Ah, Zack and Wiki

Ding! We have a winner! Playing it through again, but this time with my kids watching. They love watching the fail state animations.

I fell off it a little over halfway through and never got back to it.

Never heard of this game before now. Can you treat your customers the same way you can in roller coaster tycoon?

*makes no idea gestures*

Marble Madness for the... uh, potato?

Isn't it amazing seeing a game that totally looked way cooler back in the day look absolutely like ass now?

Well, even back in the day Marble Madness couldn't be done justice in a still shot. That game loses all of its personality when not in motion.

For the NES, same thing.

It is probably powered by a potato at this point

I never played the SNES version and somehow the ball looks very odd with that disc pattern on it. Ah well.

I'm out and about today so here's another easy one that might as well be a spiritual successor:

Crystal Castles, I'm pretty sure. I never played it before last month, when I was adding a bunch of new ROMS to my RetroPie arcade emulator.

Okay, since I'm reasonably certain I'm right, here's a Crystal Castles-inspired (I assume) 8-bit game from 2 years later. Strangely enough, this is a sequel to a series of games that look and play absolutely nothing like this one.

That's the sequel to Load Runner.

Rescue Lode Runner? I played it on the C64, I think.

Close enough, it's Lode Runner's Rescue. Played it a lot on the Atari 800 and it even had a full-feature level editor.

I think this will either be super fast to get or super slow;

I miss games that came with level editors. I put dozens of hours into the lode runner editor. In fact, I think I cheated beating the original load runner because there was a level in the 50's that was impossible. So I edited one key brick to pass it. (I am pretty sure on the PC version, it did not lock you out of editing the stock levels)

Going back I could have passed it. I was just like 13 or 14 at the time and I think it was a level that required timing that was a mechanic never seen before. (we are talking load runner back in the 80's) IIRC you had to time crossing a platform at the moment an enemy dropped and filled the hole so that you could walk across it.

Road Avenger on SegaCD.

Never played it, but remember drooling over magazine articles/ads about it.

EDIT: Since I'm positive that I'm right, here's the next one:

Tyger tyger, burning bright.

You are indeed correct about the road avenger on Sega CD.

The Sega CD was the worst subjective purchase I’ve ever made in my life. I’m sure I’ve made bigger financial mistakes, but none gave me as much psychological pain as saving up all of my money for a very long time combined with using both a Christmas and birthday present to get a Sega CD and then discovering that the games were… Such crap.

I got some memories out of playing night trap with a friend, but other than that, The system failed to deliver on such a colossal scale that I think it’s a big reason I fell out of video gaming forfive or more years.

I doubt a new pick will help anymore than this one, which is my way of saying I have no idea what this is but figure the thread could use a bump.
