Haven't tried it yet, since I have just hit my first major bug. Need to talk to an NPC that dont want to talk. Seems like a fairly common bug, where you have to restart the game over and over until you get lucky :/

At least there is a work around. If it was permanently broken, that would suck waiting around for a patch...

Willpower. That is basically the way to get back resource it seems. 120 WP per hit on all staves I have seen so far, so 10 attacks to get full WP back for me currently.
Got through the bug. Seems like the workaround is to speed run through the area. if you get to the NPC before she finish her dialogue, you can still talk to her

So, that Willpower explosion passive. It doesn't say what the proc chance is, but it must be fairly low. I think I saw it proc once on the boss I just fought.
Considering it only gives back about 300 WP, which is 2-3 attacks with the staff, that is fairly useless.
Plus you take dmg when it procs, so there is even a downside to it. Combined with a 5 sesc proc cooldown. Feels like it should pretty much have a 100% proc chance with those drawbacks.

Sounds like it is bugged. The damage it does to you should probably be the damage it does to the enemy.
The description says that it causes the explosion and has 5 second cooldown. I agree that it should not be a percent chance on top of that. Its gotta be broken.

Also, there is a passive that causes basic attacks to shoot another projectile. And also I think one that makes the last attack aoe. I wonder if the willpower on hit is really on hit or per attack regardless of # of hits?

The tooltip actually says it dmg both you and the enemy, so I think that part is correct. But yeah, unless it procs every 5 sec, it is really just a much worse potion, which everyone gets for free.

That would be really interesting. Tooltip says "Willpower per hit", but I would guess it is per attack.

This really came out of nowhere and has been a pleasant surprise. Played a melee char to level 9 in offline, and then finally got online last night and played a ranger to level 8. Melee feels a lot more powerful, but I'm going to keep pushing along in the green ranger tree, online. Hopefully ranged classes get more powerful at later levels. Going to go either dual pistols, or I'm thinking one-hand catalyst and pistol to have access to all those magic skills I keep picking up. I really love the freeform, classes, passive skill system. Done really well.

Really, my only complaint so far is when the quest reward window pops up and you're in the middle of fighting off a large horde. It's blocking your view. Oh, and the bats that can't be targeted.

Was looking forward to playing when I got home from work, but I can't connect online... so I guess that's my biggest complaint. 92K people currently playing Wolcen, so I can only imagine they weren't prepare for this amount of success. Good for them, being a small studio success story!

Yeah, definitely good on them for turning it around. The development has had its share of drama over the years.

Uh. Message about a hotfix being implemented. Game disconnects. After 30 min it is now possible to log in again. But my character is gone.
It sounded like they had problems yesterday with characters being deleted, but damn, if it is still there... :/
That beats error #37 at least.

Edit: and its back, phew Nothing like the experience of being a 'beta tester'.

With all their login issues I have to say, game is running pretty flawless for me when I do get into the game. Haven't had any lag issues at all.

I think I'll need a respec sooner rather than later. Pretty much the whole "Elemental" tree in the third passive ring seems quite bad. Got to another major skill with yet another "low % chance that X will happen". Maybe it can work if you go super-fast attack rate hybrid build or something.

Oh well, servers have been taken down without a timeframe, due to the missing characters, and supposedly item stashes disappearing.

I'm just now able to play for real.

I jumped over to their Discord channel. Looks like they're looking around 5-8 hours of downtime...

Status update: The server maintenance is extended until 5PM UTC. The characters, stashes, and endgame online will be restored as they were prior to server shutdown and we will add safeguards to avoid such issues to happen again. Thank you for your understanding.

Daaaaaamn, that first major boss is no joke. Phase 3 just wrecks me as a ranger. I can get through the first 2 phases no problem, but phase 3 is just die die die and I'm out.

*sigh*

Yeah, assuming it's the same boss, he is quite brutal with low HP.
Though I guess I cant complain about caster survivability. I tried to make a tanky melee character offline during the server downtime yesterday, and while I only got to lvl 10, my caster surely had an easier time at those early levels.

Edit: Pretty sad to read those twitter responses. While I am disappointed I cant keep playing right now, on a saturday, people are going completely nuts.

Yeah, I got to that first boss last night and the 3rd phase pounded me.
I'm the same as you, ranger and have been taking the glass cannon approach to keep things interesting.

Nothing has been causing me any trouble, including the first 2 phases of that boss, like you say, and then suddenly, whoosh, difficulty spike!
I got his health halfway down on that 3rd phase, mostly using my turret and running around screaming, spamming health potions, I think, to be honest

Only got a chance to fight him once so I'll try again tonight, but yeah man, that bit is tricksy!

Yep, finally cheesed it with Turret and just keep moving. It makes all the boss battles kinda easy.

No idea how far I am, but I'm level 32. Interesting how the gear goes up in large chunks though. So I've got rank 29 gear at the moment.

Really like the game so far!

Movement even without turrets is pretty much the best way to take him on unless you're over geared for it.

Except for the fact that I am stuck on the first boss. Dunno whether I should level up in other zones or try the turret thing. I am level 22 and feel like I am well equipped. I've got over 2300 health and 800 force shield. There is a node nearby that I can take that gives +100% heath...

How do you keep the turret up if you need rage to cast it? Take aetherjump and level it up to get the mulitcast trait?

Wow.. that's a pretty big disaster. Not a good look for a launch window. I mean, the game is playable offline, so it's not a total loss for folks that own it, but still.

While its annoying for sure, especially for those wanting to play online, it should not come as any surprise to most people who have tried launch day for online games. Its a very few who actually let people play without issues the first day.

The game is great though, and has lots of nice stuff in it - It plays wonderfully offline for those interested in that.

My biggest issue with it, is movement and hitting small/flying creatures. Those are hard to hit at times, and sometimes you just run in circles around an enemy, instead of hitting it. Interestingly, Last Epoch has the same issue - Seems targetting is a hard thing to nail down correctly.

What is the benefit online? For Coop? Can you play solo online?

As a person currently prototyping click/move games, it is a big issue to tackle satisfactorily. Blizzard has learned from its experience either by happy accident or their world famous iteration. One thing they have done is use collision to alleviate the issue. They treat enemies as obstacles that will be attacked if left click is held and they come into range, they also have a smart target nearest if you are holding down attacks and your primary target dies.

FYI, parasite is amazing!
