Name a Band / Song We Should Know About

The song that really got me interested in Local Natives was When Am I Gonna Lose You and I binge listened to them after that

New Aesop Rock single is good. Nice to see something new that isn’t a collab.

First check out the remix

Then listen to the original

dope drumming

FWIW, profits for this single are going towards medical expenses for the family of a local Portland artist, Kurt Hayashi, who was one of Aes’ closest friends and who recently died after a protracted hospital stay following a stroke.

John Moreland has a new album out now, called LP 5. Between the name and the cover, I think it's fair to say he's going for something of a minimalist theme, but musically it's probably his most complex album. This is likely due to him working with a producer instead of doing it all himself.

I’ve been a fan for a long time. He references Totoro and Cat Bus in this track!! I guess he knows his audience.

Is there any significant connection between A$AP Rocky and Aesop Rock, or did that kid just bite Aesop’s name? They sound nothing alike.

It’s just a coincidence. Aesop Rock’s been releasing albums since ASAP Rocky was a kid, but Aes is still somewhat an obscure figure and I doubt Rocky had even heard of him when picking his stage name.

There is this, though:

Also, Aesop Rock did all the illustration for his music video. He’s one of those people so artistically talented it’s almost offensive.

Was watching Black Lightning and this song was playing, Come Down by Anderson Paak. First time I heard of him.

This is the song that made me a .Paak fan

Of course this is my anthem though...

And this one’s pretty incredible...

This one is for the Mighty Boosh fans.

I don’t normally go for “mainstream” pop, but this song in particular has laid eggs in my brain:

My friend is on Spotify.

Another one of his bands here.

... gone too soon.

The album that ate my life for the past few days, just wanted to share!

A fake band and their fake album all made up to be a reference in a Netflix show.

And it is a great album and the show is f*cking amazing and you should check it out if you haven't already.

WOW!! WOW!! Unsurpassed freshness!!

You should be well aware of cardiacs, your new favourite band.

Just wait until I've finished duffing up the guy who programmed the drums so I've got a fighting chance.

You post a better video at a higher resolution. I dare you!

Yes! I was wondering if someone would notice

The new Phantogram album is out and it is all good. A few samples:

The Dixie Chicks have released their single for their upcoming album (releasing May 1st). It's their first album in 14 years. But in some bizzare twist, reminiscent of Kesha's situation, they aren't allowed to talk about the album because of ongoing legal disputes with Natalie Maines’s ex-husband.

Now everyone is wondering what happened on that boat...

I wonder if it’s anything like what T-Pain did? !NSFW!

Seriously, though, based on several reports I’ve read, he was a real jerk. He tried to weaponize their prenup, who knows what nasty stuff he pulled in private to inspire this song.

I really enjoy the latest stuff from The Marías

I've posted some Allie X before. Her new album is out and I like it a lot. Her best is still Fresh Laundry but here some more from that album:

And some from older albums:
