NCAA Basketball 19-20 Catch-All

Gameday for the best matchup of the day. And looks like LSU-Auburn would have been the right pick. Tip in in OT to win.

No chance UNC-Duke lives up to that tonight.

I agree with THAT, for sure. It's not going to be one of the classics, for certain. Every time I hear the hype commercials I'm like... Have you SEEN the heels play this season? Really? Are you SURE you want to commit to that?

Streak over! Cards beat Virginia!

ACC is ours to lose now. Rematch @FSU would almost lock it up, then @Virginia to finish the season. Should be well favored in the rest.

So. About the Duke UNC game not delivering... I gotta eat my own words.

Duke wins on a last second put back in ot.

I hate my life right now. I mean, I'm proud of the heels for their fight.. but damn, that one really hurts.

That was insane. It was like the Virginia-Louisville .9 seconds thing a couple years ago, or the Purdue-Virginia thing last year, but it happened twice.

Just make both FTs to go up 4 and game over in regulation. Just rebound on the FT miss and game over. Just defend an 18 foot jumper... nope, none of those things, so overtime.

Down 3 or 4 in OT, then came back, then up 3. Then it's the same thing, just make FTs to win.

Except then the refs step in and instead of being a foul, FTs up 2, they give Duke the ball when they clearly tackled a player. Fine, screw the refs, just one stop. Great challenge... wait what, a foul? Oh come on.

Then fine... you got 5 seconds... if they make them both drive hard and win. If they miss one double OT maybe. Whatever. They miss... oh just get the rebound. What, not again?! Oh at least they missed the jumper this time... wait a rebound tip in.

WTF?!!!

That was completely nuts.

Yep. The heels make a single extra free throw in regulation and the game is over. So many missed opportunities, bad decisions.

The flubbed call hurt, but we should never have been there to begin with.

Just a painful loss in a painful season. Fantastic game, tho.

Looks like SDSU just finished up too, cruising by 15.

Gonzaga v St Mary's has started. That shall be my night cap.

Alright, gameday! Let's see how we react to that totally deflating and disheartening loss!

...

Oh, like that, eh?

Mmmhmm.

Well, I'll just go watch more eps of The Good Place, then. Seems like a better use of my time.

With tonight's win SDSU (25-0) has won the Mountain West Conference outright.

Saw they were down early but figured they would rally.

Looks like UVA went back to normal after Louisville shootout. 50-49 over Notre Dame in overtime! Such low scoring, it's painful.

Forgot to mention Duke beating FSU Monday has practically given Louisville the ACC. Even if we lose at FSU and at UVA to end the season, we have the tiebreaker over Duke. We should win the rest. Get either of those road games and we win outright.

Yeah, I hoped but checked out about the 8 min mark. Team just looks lost. Defeated. Broken.

Wake played well, and UNC... almost looked like they'd rather be anywhere else. It's sad to see.

It's Louisville's league to win at this point!

f*ck.

Can't buy a 3.

Miss 7 FTs, plus front ends.

Refs can't even review a goddamn goaltend right. Called a double-foul on a block/charge, never seen suck bullsh*t. Announcers called them out for 5 separate horrible calls, including the 2 mentioned.

Still, 2 point game, would have won in OT, but David Johsnon fouled out.

f*ck.

Ugh. So frustrating! Seems like there's a weird curse floating around this year.

I didn't even watch this game, figuring Louisville would have it in the bag... but damn. Lack of energy, bad calls, missed shots... They must think they're cosplaying UNC!

Randomly turns on basketball... Sees Duke up massively over Notre Dame in Durham. No shock there.
...
Let's see what else is on... Oh hey, Louisville/Clemson on the ACCN. I'll check that out.
Uh... WTF Louisville.

Watches a bit. Oh, I see. Clemson player literally falls on a Louisville player going up for a shot, and no foul is called. I think I can puzzle things out.

It's a banner year!

Yeah it was not good. At least Clemson played well. The GT loss was much worse. But two in a row sucks either way.

sh*t week. Handed Duke the ACC 1 seed.

You just have to look on the bright side... you're not UNC!

This kinda sums it up for me -

It's almost ludicrous how many different games have broken against the Tarheels this season. Officiating (across the board in the NCAA) seems off too, though that might just be a matter of perspective. We've seen a ton of top 25 losses this year. Power conference parity? Weak rosters? Injuries piling up across the league? I dunno, but all the talk about this being a "weird year in college basketball" seems to become more true each week that passes!

Wow. Another game, another second half collapse, another last second shot to lose. Unreal.

I just can't even begin to understand how this KEEPS HAPPENING.

Damn just saw it and thought of you.

That's like 6? losses in the last 30 seconds or final possession now? More?

I count Clemson even though you lost in overtime.

Heartbreak season.

It's surreal. At least 6, I think. I mean, we've been blown out too. Deservedly so in those games. But how in the world are you in 6+ games decided in the final 30 seconds... and not win a single one? It's amazing.

I feel bad for the kids on the team... This is worse than the 8-20 season, or the 2009-2010 NIT season. I mean, it's just baaaaad. It's worse than the Kris Jenkins shot.

Definitely a heartbreak season.

It's 10. Or maybe just 9 games if they're counting Duke twice for the 2 time expired ones.

North Carolina opponents this season have made a FG or FT to tie or take the lead with...

3 seconds left
13 seconds left
27 seconds left
23 seconds left
1 second left
17 seconds left
As time expired
As time expired
1 second left
2 seconds left

They are counting the VT game 4 times (WTF?) and Duke twice. So, that's 6? (Clemson, at VT, BC, Duke, UVA, at ND)

That is still just BRUTAL. If half those went our way, we'd at least have only a moderately terrible season instead of the heartbreaker we're going through. I mean, no one's immune to a bad run of luck, and you can lay the some of the blame on the team too. But daaaaaamn. That's a really rough stretch! Season can't end fast enough, I suspect. There's no way this group can survive 5 straight games to get to the NCAA. The roster is too shallow, and that'd be tough for someone like FSU or Duke with their deeper benches.

Take that, Boeheim.

Welp, that just happened. NCSU absolutely *mauls* Duke in Raleigh. It wasn't close. It wasn't a tight game. They just flat-out manhandled them all game.

Didn't see that one coming, really... but in retrospect, I probably should have. They "this season"ed all over Duke today. Honestly, it's one of those comments that's sort of universally applicable when it comes to NCSU.

Oh look, NCSU beat a team they shouldn't! That's so NCSU!

Oh look, NCSU lost to a team they shouldn't! That's so NCSU!

*shrug*

Cal won a Road Game and a conference game to boot!!

We now have more Conference victories than Wyking Jones had in his 2 full seasons combined.

Sadly, that number is 5, so says more about how bad we were under Wyking than the amazing job Mark Fox is doing, but... baby steps right?

Down goes #1 again, but at least to a ranked team this time. Kansas wins at Baylor by 3.

New team on top Monday.

Tyrian... 2 hours until UNC @ Louisville.

UT had a 17 point lead against Auburn midway through the second half. Then collapsed.

Story of the season.

I am glad I was on the road today and didn't listen or watch. Checked the score and it went about as I expected.

Yeesh.

Garrison Brooks was out, so wasn't much UNC could do. They mentioned that the starters was a new lineup that had never spent a minute on the floor together all season. Pretty rough year for ol' Roy.

Monday, Louisville @FSU, for the conference regular season, most likely.
