NCAA Basketball 19-20 Catch-All

Hey UNC going to win a game? Up 17 on Miami with 3 min

They did! Finally!

Good gameplay from the guys against an equally depleted Miami squad also missing a talented backcourt today.

I imagine that feels pretty good, considering the recent spate of games.

Louisville with 20-0 run against Clemson over 6 minutes in the first half, win by 18. Never trailed. I'll take it.

David Johnson looking great again at PG. Had a sweet remind follow dunk on the break too. Kid is something.

I know Clemson isn't great but they did beat Duke. And we're the first team to score 80 on them all season. Feels like a good win.

TN played better than I expected today, and was tight until the end. Officiating was annoying as always.

Next year we're going to be stacked in the backcourt with all of our bigs returning and two amazing guards coming in.

Pons is a freak. 3 blocks, 7 rebounds, and 24 points. Can jump out of the gym.

92% FT shooter misses for Tex Tech in regulation and Kentucky survives in overtime. Yuck.

FSU escapes with a win over ND today. FSU had 0 blocks until the final 14 seconds. Ended up with 2 big blocks to seal the deal. Not a pretty win, but better than the alternative.

I watched both of those games. Couldn't believe how close ND came to stealing that one on the road!

Feels like ND always has a puncher's chance. Brey coaches some good offense usually. 84 points in regulation against FSU is impressive. Only 3 teams have done it, and one beat them.

SDSU wins on the road to set the all time school record of 21-0.

Edit: Request: can we make "the map" the thread banner?

UNC trying to win 2 in a row?

Also Mike Brey and ND fined $20k for his comments about the crap refs at FSU this weekend. He's got a point. Basic shot clock not reset nor reviewed really screwed them near the end. Couple other questionable ones too.

We did it again! Stole one on the road at NCSU!

Virginia beat FSU last night so Louisville is first in conference for now.

They sure did. Watched that and the Clemson / Syracuse games. I didn't think UVA had it in them, but Clark was dynamic and aggressive in the 2nd half. He figured out ways to score driving the lane, and Diakite hit several 3pt shots during the game (which seems to be a new thing for him).

Saw a tweet bragging about Clemson coach beating K, Roy, and Boeheim this month. And I was all yeah but Chris Mack ran him out the gym.

Plus we already got the toughest of those 3 wins, at Duke. I'm betting Mack can get the other 2 hall of famers at home this season.

I have no doubt Louisville will trounce UNC and Syracuse this season. Even if we have Cole back, I don't think we have the weapons to keep up! Syracuse is likely to be a similar conquest.

I'm hopeful we can pull one win out of the Duke / FSU / Louisville pile, but I'd prefer a win over Duke because.. well, you know. Duke.

Well Cal already has 9 wins under new coach Mike Fox which is one more than its had in either of the past 2 seasons with disastrous Wyking Jones at the helm. The 3 conference wins is equal to how many we had last year, and we're only 6 games into Pac-12 play.

I doubt we make any tournament but double digit wins would certainly be a step in the right direction. Maybe basketball will actually have more conference wins that the football team this year!

Argh! Cole is back, and looked in decent shape... But that's a heartbreaker of a loss in the final seconds.

I don't really understand how the touch after the ball has left the shooters hand can be a shooting foul. I totally get impeding landing, or touching the hand or arm if the shooter hasn't released...

Argh.

Cards by 20 at NC St. Nice quadrant 1 win. Hopefully we move in the top 5 with FSU losing this week. Got a nice conference lead but do have to play them again.

Game was erratically called, more "TV Ted" Valentine show today. NCSU got a 5-point possession after a rebound foul called well before a 3-point shot, but they called "continuation" or some bullsh*t. Hard to complain about a 20 point win but I saw about 3 things today that would make my top 10 worst calls of the season. Both halves started 4-0 or 5-0 foul counts and the Wolfpack understandably made runs both times. Frustrating to watch but the guys played through it well.

9 ranked teams lost today. 3 more still playing tonight.

Gonna be tough game for SDSU tonight, hopefully we can pull through. So far we're hang on to a narrow lead as both teams are playing really well.

Edit: Down by 8 at the half, fingers crossed hopefully we can bring it back.
Edit:Edit: We erased a 10 point deficit and win 80 - 68.

23-0 baby!!!!

Sigh. I thought for a while there we might have a decent chance on the road at FSU (despite all evidence to the contrary), but the Heels played more true to form down the stretch and just couldn't make the plays they needed or hit the shots from.. well, anywhere (11 min without a bucket? ARGH).

It's just not a good year in Chapel Hill. Feel bad for the seniors that are going out on a low point, but at least they have that 2017 championship ring (forgive me for living in the past, it's pretty much all I got right now).

8+ minutes without a FG just kills you. That would have been a huge win, top 10 team on the road, and maybe started to convince the committee that UNC with Cole was tournament worthy. Now it's just trying to get on the right side of .500 for an NIT bid, probably best case scenario.

Maybe a Duke win just to stick it to your rival.

New polls out, no change top 4, except Baylor getting more votes and Gonzaga getting less. Kansas-Baylor coming up should be a doozy. Cards got back into top 5, good for me. If we could win out, getting revenge at FSU, and either beating FSU or Duke again in ACC tourney, still think we could get a 1-seed. But at 7 in the NET currently locked into a solid 2.

Yeah, those ice cold stretches are just nails in the coffin. We'd basically have to win every remaining regular season game from here on out (plus probably 1-2 in the ACCT) to have even a last four in type of hope. NIT is likely the best case scenario for them, but I suspect they might even be on the outside looking in.

I'd certainly take a win over Duke this season, but given the even further personnel depletion (with Brandon Robinson potentially gone till the beginning of March?), I'm not sure any of it is in the realm of possibility.

Things look about as good for Louisville as they do bad for UNC at the moment. Things do appear to be coming together at the right time. Just gotta ride that wave into a deep NCAA run!

I bought tickets to the Mountain West Conference Tournament in Las Vegas, as I've been wanting to go for a few years now, and well this seems like a good year to go for a SDSU fan.
Should be a great 3 days of Basketball, and with luck we'll still be undefeated at the end.

That's awesome. I really should go to ACC while I'm living so close. But I always take the first two days of March Madness off work, so I hate to take 2 days the week before.

I had been talking to my dad and brother about getting tickets to the ACC tournament this year, since I've never been.
...
Holy crap, am I glad we decided not to pursue that idea.

Guess I forgot to post Wed night. A little scare with Wake Forest in the first half but crushed them in the 2nd.

Virginia at Louisville today, and we're favored by 7. 3+ years, 9 straight the have beat us. This has to be the year finally. We're better, they're down, got to win at home.

Also, why the hell is GameDay at UNC this morning? I'm sorry, you have to have a winning record to participate, like the NIT. Especially when #10 vs #12 is happening in the Big East and #11 vs #18 in the SEC. Pathetic.

Selection preview.

I have some issue with Duke ahead of Louisville. We beat them on their court. All 3 of our losses are Q1. They lost to SFA (Q3) and Clemson (Q2).

Whatever. When FSU beats them Monday, they'll drop. Heck maybe UNC gets them tonight.

Because, despite your opinion to the contrary, it's still touted as the best rivalry in college basketball.

As much as I wish they weren't there today... Sigh. It's going to be an ugly game.

Making SDSU play all the way out in New York would be messed up. We’d be better off a number 2 seed in the West. Or even better number 1 seed in West.
