Welcome, and happy “49th anniversary of ‘What’s Going On’” week! You may all celebrate by just listening to that song.

Kingdom Hearts III: Re Mind is probably the biggest deal this week, and I have no clue about it. It’s a timed PS4 ‘sclusy, with the Xbone version coming out a month later. It’s about going back to just before the battle in the Keyblade Graveyard and fighting the Seven Guardians of Light. Squenix have kept other details under tight wraps, but it’s priced like it’s a chunky extra helping for fans.

Kalypso as publisher is releasing some old classics from the early naughties with Commandos 2 - HD Remaster and Praetorians - HD Remaster. On top of upgrading the graphics, they’ve renovated the controls, UI, and tutorial to take out some of the arbitrary, jank-related brutality that Commandos 2, in particular, was known for. These are real-time tactics games: in Commandos 2 you take a small squad of specialists through WW2 missions, while in Praetorians you control larger groups of Roman soldiers—more than a contubernium but fewer than a century. With games set in WW2 and Rome, Kalypso has the “history nerd Dad” market cornered this week.

The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners VR proves that even in VR, there is no escape from zombies.

If I were 7 years old again, the most exciting-sounding game this week would be Sky Pirates of Actorius. If it had really cool box art, and I actually had any money, I would have bought it on sight. Then I would have unboxed it, only to discover it was a purely text-based choose-your-own-adventure.

Back in early December, I gave a GOTW to the console release of Soccer: Tactics & Glory / Football, Tactics & Glory, then it went and got delayed. It strides belatedly into play this week.

Temtem is a Pokemon MMO without Pokemon. Looking at the “catch critters/battle other slavers tamers” gameplay under the slogan “Catch ‘Em All!”, I have the same thought as when I walk down the aisle at an Aldi: “Wow, they must have really good trademark lawyers.” But hey, Temtem is on PC, which has never had Pokemon before. Plus, there’s never been a Pokemon MMO. By all accounts, it delivers a more fleshed-out experience than the inexcusably empty Pokemon Sword and Shield. Temtem is planned for consoles in May, but if you want to get in early, it enters Early Access this week. I’ll give it a GOTW for barking at the big dog on the block.

I totally missed this before and was considering giving it a go on PC, but you just saved me from that, so thanks!

It's actually not coming out until 2021 on console now. Hope you're patient.

I think I'm going to give it a shot on PC. I've always wanted to scratch that Pokemon MMO glitch. Join me sir.

I can probably live with that. My backlog is enormous.

Oh sweet, I didn't realise Rune Factory 4 was so close! Doesn't seem to be coming for another week in Australia though.

It was delayed to late February, although it still doesn't have a concrete release date. I'm not sure where the 1/21 release came from.

Wowee, some release date snafus this week! Rune Factory 4 is indeed slated for 28 Feb and Temtem on consoles has indeed been pushed to 2021.

Thanks for the corrections and sorry for any confusion, folks.

Ah bummer. Oh well!

Feb. 28th in Australia, Feb. 25th in North America.
