NCAA Basketball 19-20 Catch-All

Ohio St handled by double digits at Indiana today. They were trendy Final Four pick just a few weeks ago when they beat Kentucky.

Baylor leading on the road at Kansas. Looking solid.

Still early but already an interesting day.

Whew, Louisville hangs on by 3 at Notre Dame.

Ranked Penn St falls at home to Wisconsin.

Texas Tech at West Virginia is the next one I'm looking for, will try to catch some during football. Lots of ranked teams playing today.

I just.. I just can't even.

How do you blow a 10 point lead with 2 min to go? Allow me to play you the video!

Just unreal.

It finally happened!

Clemson won at UNC. In the craziest way possible sending the game to OT.

Wow

Wow

It sure did. It suuuuurrre did. Once again, no backcourt on the floor for UNC. Jeremiah Francis was apparently out with another sore knee injury. So we lose 3 in a row. At home. All of which were winnable games. We end a 0-59 losing streak in our building for Clemson.

It's gonna be a long rest of the season, that's for sure.

Virginia lost at home to a barely.500 Syracuse team. After already losing at Boston college earlier this week.

Everyone sucks.

It's a freaking strange year in college basketball.

Speak for yourself, we’re undefeated.*

I have to ask, what's winning like? It's been so long, I don't even remember anymore!

Marvelous, yet nerve wrecking.

Edit: 17-0

So Indiana - Ohio State was on in the office yesterday and I was just kind of idly gazing at it when I had a realization...

...beyond letting you know which 25 teams you can expect to see in the tournament, do the rankings in CBB mean anything anymore? Like honestly, does being #7 mean anything beyond being A.) a single-digit number and B.) meaning that even if you lose to Stephen F. Austin, you won't drop out of the rankings?

Nah the polls are meaningless and have been for years.

Tournament was seeded by RPI. Now is supposed to be seeded by NET rankings, a new measure they made last year.

But even then, the committee last year left out some 30-40 ranked NET teams and put in a couple of 60+ ranked NET teams. So there's still a whole lot of subjectivity. It makes selection Sunday interesting I guess, but it's pretty frustrating when they make a new metric and still don't use it. It was already bad enough when Louisville was ranked 4th and got a 4 seed (13-16 ranked equivalent) in 2014, and other bullsh*t that happened under the RPI. But now the NET is causing the same issue.

Committee would be better to just use KenPom. Or in the case of 2014, there was a push from Vegas that they should just seed the tournament. They are actually unbiased and don't give a sh*t who wins or gets favorable seeds, unlike the committee full of former university athletic directors with conference and school biases from decades of work.

Annnnd down goes Duke. Clemson has pulled off the upset at home. They've looked like a better team in their last 47 minutes of basketball.

Louisville needed OT on the road at Pitt, but pulls out the win. Yay ACC. Yay college basketball. It's a topsy turvy world.

Just horrid officiating at Pitt tonight. But even so if Louisville had hit a couple FTs, could have won in regulation. Like 12-18 or something.

Best news is David Johnson had his best game. Freshman PG, from Louisville, and had hurt his shoulder in the fall. We desperately needed a bigger PG. He's 6'5", long, quick, and can get to the rim but still has vision.

He and Sam Williamson were the two best freshmen coming in and the reason so many had us top 5. But our old PGs had not been getting it done this year. If DJ can play solid like tonight, we might really be good. 11 points, 4 assists in only 16 minutes.

Now can we beat Duke Saturday for the debut of basketball college GameDay?

Also at 7am this morning, ESPN wrote "Can any team compete with Duke?" on their basketball feature article.

Same as they did back in Nov with a "Duke should be #1 for a while" article right before they lost to SFA.

No articles about SDSU then, please.

Auburn finally loses, to 8-7 Alabama, by 20.

Kentucky loses to 8-7 South Carolina.

Virginia loses to FSU for a 3 game streak.

Ranked Creighton and Wichita State both lose.

Hell of a night.

I guess the bromance dream is over then.
What’s the deal Auburn? You promised that you were saving your first loss for us when we met for the championship.

Auburn's best win was probably a mediocre NC State team. They haven't played anybody. Ga southern, S Alabama, Colgate, Lehigh, their schedule was a joke. They'll probably end up with 6-8 SEC losses

I wondered about that. UNC beat that Alabama team earlier this season (with Cole Anthony on the floor, of course), and their record wasn't stellar as you cited.

I saw the end of the Kentucky / SC game. When Quickley hit that shot with ~4 seconds to go I thought, "Oh man, that's enough time left for a decent shot" -- (shades of that 2016 championship game... argh). Sure enough, SC guard runs the floor, and pulls up around NBA+ range for a bank-in win. Crazy!

Welp, 9 min into today's game at Pitt I decided to bow out. I can't take another game where the players just don't believe. There's no fight, no energy, no will to win. They lost before they entered the building. UNC is the worst team in the ACC this year. Sure, the deck tilted away from them with the injury situation, but the losses have taken any remaining fight out of them.

Don't know if you caught GameDay but they did a little floor/ceiling on top 25 teams, and had a bit with UNC even though they're not ranked. It's not good.

Louisville at Duke at 6! Whole world picking against us. But come on, we're better than SFA and Clemson and they beat Duke. No reason we can't win and exorcise the ghost of last year.

Apparently that's the only ranked vs ranked game today.

I did see that, and while Bilas seemed to think they're a better team than they've been playing, I'm honestly sure they aren't. Without any belief that you could win, you probably can't. And that's this team in a nutshell. No backcourt, grad transfers that haven't panned out, and a moderately inexperienced frontcourt. No chemistry!

5 ranked teams losing in the 2nd halves of their games right now.

Baylor, Ohio State, Villanova Butler and Seton Hall.

Ohio St, Butler, and Auburn all fall. Fun day.

FSU survives overtime with Miami or we'd have another ranked loss to unranked.

WVU loses by 18 to Kansas St. And down goes ranked Colorado to Arizona. Oregon losing by a dozen but still first half.

Kansas survived. But this is one of those Saturdays, half the ranked teams falling.

I don't know if that's good or bad for you. The picks today have been all over the place. ~30 minutes to game time.

UK now tied with Arkansas after leading double digits in the first. Oh boy.

Fingers crossed for tonight’s game, lets make it 19-0.

Holy sh*t, 21-9 Louisville.
