NFL 2019: Divisional Weekend!!

Pages

The schedule:

Minnesota Vikings (10-6) at San Francisco 49ers (13-3), 4:35 p.m. Saturday (NBC)

Tennessee Titans (9-7) at Baltimore Ravens (14-2), 8:15 p.m. Saturday (CBS/not Romo)

Houston Texans (10-6) at Kansas City Chiefs (12-4), 3:05 p.m. Sunday (CBS/Romo!)

Seattle Seahawks (11-5) at Green Bay Packers (13-3), 6:40 p.m. Sunday (Fox)

The Keys to the NFL Divisional Round (analysis via the Ringer)

My prediction: 3 blowouts, 1 close game.

Last weekend was fun football. This weekend is shaping up to be lopsided. The gaps between the Niners, Ravens and Chiefs and their opponents are pretty big. Lord only knows what will happen in Green Bay on Sunday.

Damn, don't get Romo for the Ravens game, but I'll take him for the Texans vs. Chiefs!

I expect all home teams to win this week, Green Bay being the exception since they were good but mostly over crappier teams ... plus Russell Wilson.

The Niners seem like the WORST matchup for the Vikings. Their DL is gonna make Cousins see phantom pressure for the rest of his life.

Wasn't planning on really watching this weekend, but ailment has me at home and I've been curious to watch more of the 49ers, Ravens, Chiefs, and Packers.

So I guess I know who I'm rooting for in each of those games?

Usually this is the best weekend for football watching, so plan on spending tons of time watching the games while RESTING to get well.

It's probably better you don't have a team to root for as it'll keep your blood pressure down.

NBC Sunday night football at 4pm on Saturday? That'll be fun

If the game does get lopsided, Chiefs fans better take it easy on Bill O'Brien, because he's a bit sensitive in those situations

I picked all home teams again this week in my pool. It went so well for me last week!

In fact, I may as well give my chalky-terrible pics for the rest of the season.

San Fran over Green Bay
Baltimore over KC

San Fran over Baltimore.

You're welcome Legion.

Good man. I predict a great coaching hire for the Browns and a big turnaround in 2020.

Yeah, it'll be weird having Michaels and Collinsworth kicking off the weekend instead of ending it.

And yes, the divisional round is traditionally the best football weekend of the year. Honestly, though, it'll be hard to beat last week. Maybe the best WC round in recent memory, mostly considering who thought they were too good to be WC teams and wound up embarrassing themselves.

I think we just cursed each other. I look forward to laughing when Jimmy G throws two pic sixes and the Browns hire the homeless dude that told Haslam to draft Johnny Football.

The interwebs say that Matt Rhule wants to chat with LSU's Joe Brady about maybe being his OC.

Wheeeeee!

Josh McDaniels is in Cleveland to interview for the head coaching job, and his wife is on the trip with him.

Not sure if that means a hiring is imminent, or if it means the wife is so skeptical of Cleveland that she has to see it herself before they can even consider it.

The best thing about Cleveland is that it is only an hour and a half from Cedar Point.

Niners
Ravens
Chiefs
Seahawks

Maybe they just wanted a nice vacation to the shores of Lake Erie in January. Did you ever think of that?

There is no sales pitch for a city like "you can leave it and go somewhere else if you like".

I was going to say Shurmur is available... again.

Are Josh and his wife on Twitter? Can we tweet this video at them?

I thought nothing could top this vid. Glad to be wrong!

I feel like we can do a better job of that of selling the appeal of Cleveland.

Cleveland: The Water Currently Isn't On Fire

Cleveland: Pretty Much Halfway Between Detroit And Buffalo Both Geographically And In Sports Success

Cleveland: On Erie Not Ontario It's OK Everybody Makes That Mistake

The second tourism video is the GOAT:

Apparently there was a new one this year:

"This building's no longer haunted by sadness" - a line which future archaeologists will be able to use to exactly date the video to spring/summer 2019.

As for BalloonFest, the part of that video that got me was the bit about the event not ending up recognized by the Guinness Book. But apparently, that isn't true. It made the 1988 Book. The record was broken in 1994 when 1.7 million balloons were released in Longleat, England, in an event by Disney to promote... *checks notes*... the VHS tape release of Aladdin:

Honestly, I think all Ohio cities are cursed by things that fill the sky -- balloons in Cleveland and turkeys in Cincinnati.

It's no coincidence that the Bengals have the first pick, ya know.

Same here. My colleagues went with Packers over Seahawks but I want to take more of a risk to try to catch up since last week i was 1-3!

All homers for me:
Niners
Ravens
Chiefs
Packers

Vikings
Packers
Ravens
Chiefs

I'm in the minority but I think the Vikings have the defense, running game, and I just think Cousins is better than Jimmy G.

This weekend is best, and next Sunday is the best Sunday of the season.

Seriously. They're going to be the kind of team Gettleman wishes he could put together. Frankly, Niners of Vikes is the single absolute, stone-cold lock.

Watch the Vikes win by 10 now, of course.

Career playoff records:

Kirk Cousins: 1-2, 0 Super Bowl rings
Jimmy Garoppolo: 7-1, 2 Super Bowl rings

The Vikings offensive line is pretty good. Cousins is the 22nd most sacked qb in the league. Jimmy G has been sacked quite a bit more. 49ers and Vikings Defenses both have 48 sacks on the year. Sure, SF has a formiddable defense but Cousins doesn't have to win this game. Cook does. And there, the 49ers are a lot more vulnerable (17th in rushing yards allowed). I think it's far from a lock.

I lol'ed at this one. This is an amusing way to look at the facts.
