Let's see, I'll pick:

Houston
Tennessee
New Orleans
Seattle

Picking against the Patriots in the past has bit me in the ass, but when I've picked in their favor, they've lost, so I'm due to be right.

Kirk Cousins:
0-1 in the playoffs
1-11-1 as a Viking when trailing in the fourth quarter
6-29 against teams with winning records in his career
1-6 as a Viking on the road against teams with a winning record (at year end)

Just sayin'.

New Orleans and Seattle sure. AFC? No idea

Why does Bill Polian get an all pro vote again? Still hating on Lamar

In my pool, I picked all the home teams and I figure I won’t go 0-4.

Houston
New England
New Orleans
Seahawks

JJ Watt is back which is an interesting wrinkle. No idea how effective he can be after missing 8 games but I love me some JJ.

Pats but by the slimmest of margins. I think this game opened Pats by -7 and moved to -5. I think this has upset potential but its still the Pats at home in the playoffs.

*reads above Kirk Cousins stats* So ya NO.

I was at the Seahawks/Eagles game earlier in the year. It was an ugly ugly game and since then both teams have pretty much just got more injured? I'll take Russel Wilson over Wentz and that's not a slight vs Wentz.

On a pure play for play and “classic” performance basis Russell Wilson has been the best QB in the league. Lamar has definitely been the most exciting.

Similarly egregious was the voter who voted for Jadeveon Clowney at DT. A position he played all of 6 snaps at this year.

Clowney wasn't even that good. He had a good year and continued his run dominance but had a better year last year.

I don't begrudge Bill Polian his opinion. I still think he's as wrong as ketchup on cheerios, but he's entitled to his opinion.

My predictions

Tennessee over the Patriots. The Pats are eating out on their resume, but are really low wattage right now. And folks have figured out their high risk defense lately. Look for Tannahill to torch that vaunted defense for 250+ and three TD's. 27 points should be enough to outscore the NE offense, defense, and special teams.

Bills (barely) over the Texans. This one was hard because you never know which Texans team will show up. They are really riding the Vicky Mendoza Diagonal lately so I might be stunningly wrong on this depending on which way the butterfly's wings flapped in the Muslim concentration camp in Xinjiang last weekend. All that said, I have more confidence in the Bills defense to provide the consistency they need to win a WC game.

Saints over Vikings. Kirk Cousins. That is all.

Seahawks over Eagles. I love that the Eagles clawed their way into the playoffs because the Cowboys couldn't get their sh*t together. I love that they host a game despite a record that would put them fourth in the Seahawks' division. I love that they are doing so much with so little. I love that they are the only invitee to this year's ugly girl party. All that said, this is the end of the line for them this season.

Titans
Texans
Saints (They can't lose in some wacky way until the second or third round)
Eagles (Some fans will rush the field and knee cap Wilson during the warmups)

Lamar beat Wilson head to head.
Lamar threw 36 TD to Wilson's 31.
Lamar had 7 rushing TD to Wilson's 3.
Lamar sat out 5 4th quarters and week 17, while Wilson played every game.

I can go cherry pick 5-10 statistics that show Wilson is better, but that would be non-productive. Lamar had a great year. I have an opinion that Wilson is still a better quarterback.

My use of “classic” performance is what I would call myself out for, what I meant was our historical view of quarterback play. Lamar plays quarterback differently, due to both talent and coaching scheme. I am prepared to admit that metrics I use to evaluate quarterback play may need to be adjusted given the new paradigm Lamar has presented for the position.

Sure Wilson threw for 1k more yards. But again he played 9 extra quarters of football. 5 less throwing TDs in those extra quarters. WTF is more traditional QB than throwing TDs?

And non traditional, Wilson has 300 yards rushing. Lamar has 1200.

Not a fan of that word classic in there. In the eyeball test and team basis Lamar should be hands down MVP of the league. Bill Polian is a jackass.

I wonder if it could possibly that there are so many negatives piled up against him that it works like math, and a negative times a negative several times over turns into a positive and the Vikings beat the Saints.

More likely scenario in my opinion

Shoot, Wilson isn't even considered a classic QB.

The problem with Russell Wilson this past season is he had a better first half than second half and didn't win against good teams. (Of course, the Ravens lost to the Browns somehow.)

Lamar ended on a stronger note and broke the QB rushing record. It also helps he led the league in passing TDs.

Yardage doesn't mean a ton on its own because it's a volume stat. If your team is losing you throw more. I mean, Jameis Winston led the league in yardage and no one is gonna anoint him anytime soon (other than taking up Eli Manning's mantle).

I'm not going to argue that you think Wilson is a better QB, but it comes off as disingenuous to say someone is cherry picking stats. Wilson being considered the MVP requires one to break the mold on stats because his team is generally a low volume pass team. Lamar just happens to break the mold in a different way.

I'll continue to ride the 'Seahawks secretly suck' train and go with these picks as well.

Bills at Texans. I can't shake the feeling that the Bills D is going to cause major issues for the Texans. The question then is will the Bills O do enough against the Texans and my answer is JJ Watt. Watt will be on a limited snap count with Will Fuller being out I'm now leaning to the Bills. Can't believe I'm choosing them.

Titans at Patriots. As much as I like AJ Brown, he's gonna get taken out by the Pats D while Henry will likely be bottled up as the #1 focus. You do those two things and what do the Pats have left? Ryan Tannehill turning back into a pumpkin. I expect the Pats to eek this one out.

Vikings at Saints. Kirk Cousins had already turned back into a pumpkin. I think the Saints at home is too much for Dalvin Cook to overcome on his own. The pressure is gonna get to Cousins. Saints.

Seahawks at Eagles. Eagles are a joke this year. Sorry, Seahawks will win.

I will entirely own my poor choice of words. I recognize “classic qb” infers a history of racial bias and discrimination that I did not intend to bring into the conversation, apologies.

And apologies to Stele for insinuating you were cherry picking stats. Poor word choice again on my part. I was trying to suggest I could find statistics to support my opinion, not lambaste the argument you presented.

I love what the Ravens are doing. They have one of the smartest front office staffs, have a robust and strong analytics department, and a coaching staff that is both putting their players in position to maximize their talents and succeed, and a coaching staff who makes excellent in game decisions and adjustments.

Quit being so nice.

East Coast bird > West Coast bird

Deal with it!

When will these coaches start learning not to challenge questionable PI calls? They almost never get overturned.

Not that Bill O’Brien is a sparkling example of intelligent football decision making.

Wilson vs Lamar (and even Watson) for MVP was a legitimate race at one point, and around the halfway point of the season, RW was the pick in my eyes.

But Lamar ran away with it over the second half. And there's no way he shouldn't be the pick for 1st team All-Pro. Polian is a troll.

Josh Allen playing dodgeball but lucking out.

Allen gives me so many Bortles flashbacks, it's hard to watch Bills games.

Can we please get racist POS Hank Williams the hell off the TV?

What the everloving f*ck just happened?

Oh my God.

EDIT: Oh, okay. Sheesh.

Houston is not good at playoffs.
