Arma 3 Catch All

You mentioned Discord...Which one are you referring to?
Tried to connect this morning...and now I remember why I'm sick of arma. Even just getting the game up and connected is fiddly and convoluted. But I'm trying guys, I'm trying!

Thanks Druid for the effort you put into getting a server working. I think Antistasi is a cool idea, but not sure I will have the time to dedicate to this other than Thursday nights. I was hoping for more of a setting where we have access to all weapons and gear (Virtual Arsenal), we then gear up with what we want, then run a mission (either Co-op missions, or user created) Is it possible to enable Virtual Arsenal with Antistasi? Maybe I'm just new to Antistasi and do not fully understand what its all about, but it seems like it will require lots of time and effort to make progress.

I did play for a bit today, got a car, went undercover, roamed around, crossed into AAF Base, got killed.

Honestly, I wouldn't worry about discord. I'll be out of pocket until 8 PM pst tonight, probably. If antistasi is a sh*t show, fall back to Squad or otherwise.

Antistasi wil be persistent, so something we can keep working on progressing over time.

OK! I made it in! I've gone full guerilla and procured a couple vehicles for us. Let the revolution begin! (Don't get excited, it's a cargo truck and an SUV.)

I'll be on to play for the night around 730 central. Whoever hops on, hit me up on steam, so we can coordinate!

Glad to see this thread has been revived - I'll try to hop on in the next few days. Has anyone tried "Hell let loose"? It's been pretty fun. I also have an extra code for squad - pm me if you want it.

BI is running an anniversary sale right now. Apex is only ~$8.

Server is still up, I've been too busy to do anything with it the past week. I took a personal day to catch up on some rest, so I'll potentially be tweaking it today.

Anyone interested in another Thursday night? I should be available next thursday.

I'll be on around 7:00pm cst if anyone wants to play a bit

If anybody's around Mondays or Tuesdays, I'd be happy to jump back into this.

Welp, I just bought the whole kit and kaboodle after reading about single-player mods like Old Man (https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfil...) and Overthrow (https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfil...), so I'm very excited to dive into all the single-player content.

I don't know how active this thread is, but I have a question concerning Arma 3.

I've been playing this game online with friends from The Netherlands and Denmark for a year and since 6 months I've been player the single player campaign (The East Wind, Remnants of War, etc). The combination of this, like the social aspect of multiplayer with friends and enhancing my skills in single player made me love this game even more.

My question: is it a big step to join public servers? I mean I really don't know how good I am at the game. Is there a way to get more into the online playing community of Arma? If I look at some discussions on Steam it's almost if semi-pros and pros are talking.

It's pretty much impossible to play Arma 3 online.

You can find hardcore communities that use Arma 3 as a base upon which they build even more hardcore milsim games via a tower of mods.

You can find plenty of community servers playing DayZ knockoff mods or awful "Life" role playing mods.

But actually playing Arma 3? That's harder to come by. If you find it though, you let me know where.

I haven't played in a while, but when I did, I remember finding some mission-based public servers that were fairly fun, a nice mixture of casual core gameplay with some light realism added on top. Lord knows if they're still around, but I remember playing them a LOT, FWIW.

Maybe some other GWJ Arma players and know if the servers you mentioned are still active. I know Bohemia Interactive is still developing the game and dlc's.

ShacTac was one of the big ones. I feel like there was another, but the name is escaping me.

I think ShackTactical is one of the more hardcore sim ones that Legion was talking about.

Goshdarnit, everything was on sale, so I reinstalled.

Again, the only reason I haven't sunk 1,000 hours into this game is that I don't have a regular group to play with.

If anyone would like to screw around with some games sometime, especially since ArmA is running 75% of on steam right now, please let me know.

I'm going to fire ARMA up again as soon as I get my 5900X CPU.

ARMA on 1st gen Ryzen was always... dissatisfying, even with the adjusted expectations of what ARMA performance is like in general.

But with 3 generations of big IPC jumps, single core performance on the 5900X should boost ARMA quite a bit over where I've been at.

It ran like a dream on my i9-9900K and the RTX 2080 I splurged on for this machine. I just find it such a satisfying experience as most FPSes are about 10,000% too fast for me. Although I have heard positive things about Squad as a nice midpoint between the fiddliness and extreme "realism" of ArmA and CoD.

Squad is on my to-do list too now that it has hit 1.0.

I have a "beginners guide to Squad" video saved in my Watch Later list on YouTube. Also a game whose performance I was not satisfied with before, and will enjoy re-attempting with a big jump in CPU and GPU power.

Alright, I have my new Ryzen (albeit 5800X rather than 5900X, hooray chip shortages), and I am super keen to start playing around with Antistasi.

I had to Google that because I was like "what does the East German Secret Police have to do with ArmA?"

Squad is an excellent game, but you really need to play in a "Squad". Voice comms are almost a must. There is a decent community, but certain folks can be really unforgiving. It is one of those games that really has to be your focus - not really a drop in and out dabble for an hour here or there kind of game :).
