Klaus was great. I see it going into the regular pre-Christmas movie rotation with the Hogfather,
Is Hogfather based on the Terry Pratchett Discworld stories?

Yes!
It's a great recreation of the book.
Just finished Star vs the Forces of Evil - it was delightful, in the vein of Steven Universe
Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts is a new cartoon on netflix. I watched the first few episodes and thought it was pretty good. It has some nice animation and the music is great. Looks like something that would be good to watch with kids. Safe enough for kids to watch and interesting enough for adults.
The show is on the wacky side. Talking frogs, bees doing disco, giant bunny rabbits, and all types of mutants live in this world. We meet three humans so far all are black interesting enough. People mostly live underground but two of the three we meet are living above ground. The one human from below is trying to get back home.
This one is above average. I got a Studio Ghibli vibe every now and then. The music is pretty good. There’s even a rap song with GZA and John Hodgman rapping about astronomy.
I feel like the writing is pretty mediocre, which is a shame since the concept and artistic direction are really great. The lukewarm writing really keeps it from being something that I would strongly recommend.
This clip is awesome:
Rebels very specifically tried to show us that spiders weren't bad.
Don't buy into Big Spider's agenda.

There is a Ni No Kuni animated movie on Netflix. I watched about 30 minutes. I have no idea how it relates to the game if at all. It was ok. I would have watched more, but I decided to play video games instead.

I finished season one of Kipo today. I really liked it and I’m looking forward to season two. Hopefully the writing in season two will be a tad more sophisticated. The music continues to be excellent throughout season one.
Old adult question:
My 3yo son’s favorite Spider-Man costumed parkour artist posted a video of himself as Naruto doing parkour. And now my son wants to watch Naruto.
Is there a Naruto appropriate and accessible for littles, and if so where can we find it?
(bonus points if it is a service I already pay for).
I did not know that "costumed Spider-Man parkour artist" was a thing, nor that it was a thing that there was enough of for one to have a favorite. I love that I know it now.
Naruto is one of those things like Harry Potter that starts out aimed as young as it is ever going to aim and skews older from there, so there is no better place to start than episode 1.
As far as appropriateness, it has some gags later on involving dirty old men ogling girly magazines that will probably go right over a 3-year-old's head. The main concern would be the violence, which isn't over the top or explicit, but its middle school aged ninja characters do get put into mortal danger, and there are some fight scenes with injuries and a little bit of blood.
It's really a judgment call depending on what sort of stuff you typically let your 3-year-old consume. If you would be good showing them the Lord of the Rings movies, this is about at that level as far as action and violence goes.
Personally I would say go for it, what's the worst that could happen, it's probably good for kids to be exposed to stuff a little past their age range from time to time. But then, I don't have kids of my own-- I'm the cool uncle-- so take my opinion for what it's worth and no more.
It's quite easy to find streaming; it's on Netflix, Hulu, Crunchyroll, and for free on the Viz website.
I’ve only seen the first few episodes of Naruto. For a three year old, I wouldn’t be so concerned with any questionable content. I would think that the story, though fairly simple, would go over the child’s head. But there’s probably no harm in giving it a try.
I'm not all the way through Castlevania, but I am finding it oddly uneven. Some of it is really, really great. Other parts, Ellis seems to be mailing in. I can almost see the comic that Ellis is writing, and that's not always a good thing. Some of the dialogue that works chopped up between panels in a visual novel comes across as very stilted when it's done in a more fluid medium.
He's also far more interested in his villains, which, fair, they're a lot more interesting than the main characters. But he seems almost bored with the titular Belmont character and co.
But when it starts hitting, it's really great. Pretty much everything involving Isaac and his weird odyssey through the Mediterranean is spectacular.
Justice League Dark Apokolips War just came out. I guess it is the final movie in the current cartoon universe. They reference most if not all of the other movies. Also they took elements of the canceled Justice League movies and used them in this move.
I liked the movie but thought it should have been split into two or more movies. The movie was a bit rushed, there is a time jump, and many characters don't have lines. Huge body count in this movie. Lots of characters getting killed in gory ways. Faces are ripped off, bodies cut in half, some people are eaten, and so on and so on.
Normally the Dark tag is used for the magic and other worldly members of the Justice League. Some of those members do show up and Constantine is the main guy but I wouldn't call this a Dark focused movie. The movie doesn't have a lot of magic besides what Constantine brings to the table. Just a odd naming choice.
I was going to ask if a colon was missing from the title.
Sounds worth a watch but messy like a few of the movies.
