Also double xp weekend this coming weekend.
I believe that it's just Weapon XP.

double xp on shipment is a major boost to your leveling... it's rare to have under 40 kills on that map. It's a glorious clusterf*ck.
I just started throwing grenades as soon as I spawned. Like fish in a barrel. It will probably be a great spot to level RPGs as well.
Hipfire challenges, throwing knives, etc... Wrapped up a couple of daily challenges and a step in a mission on that map. It's a wild ride.
Too bad they don't have a 24/7 shipment queue. I'm guessing that's why everyone's quitting when vacant comes up and I wouldn't mind just splurging on that map for a while.

That's exactly what I was doing last night to get hipfire and grenade challenges done. Both were very easy to do on Shipment.
Holy f*ck, the multiplayer is incredible.
I had a 1.07 KD in my first match and it would have been much higher if my team hadn't been a bunch of punk ass campers on Cranked.
I now have this on Xbox One. And probably will be fairly terrible at first...still, feel free to invite.
I have reached my arbitrary goal of achieving a KD of 1.5. That's almost exclusively in standard TDM. To be honest Claymores are an old man's best friend. I'm not proud.
That's as good as I have had in any COD game and I've played them all since the original Modern Warfare. This one seems to suit me.
The only challenge I've gone for is staying alive. That probably makes a big difference.

Ha! My experience and goals are similar to yours. Though my K/D R target is significantly more modest: a KD of 1.01... then I'll retire. I'm currently at about 0.87, having made the mistake of starting my multiplayer experience in Ground War and watched my K/D R get obliterated early doors.
Since then I've dragged myself back slowly from about 0.67 or something.
Like you I've realised that - as a more (ahem) mature player - the key is to claymore furiously, camp shamelessly, and - when given the option - prioritise certain survival over uncertain kills (particularly because it keeps my claymores 'alive' too)
There's something deeply satisfying about surviving for five minutes or so, and then seeing an unexpected claymore kill pop up. Also, the game is - well - different and more interesting, if you're not dying every 30 seconds. You get to see and feel the ebbs and flows, the impact of spawn 'flips', the effect of big kill streaks.
The other thing I do is simply not play the smaller arenas. If I see 'Shipment' or 'Shoot House', then 'Ahm Ooot'.
EDIT:
Also, you may want to consider removing pistols entirely from you loadouts, and replacing them with the PILA launcher.
In limited experience, you really need to be very, very good at headshots in order to be effective with them. I am not. However, the way the game plays, there will always be aerial targets to engage, and always scores a hit if you're locked on.
For me at least, the choice between the two secondary weapons was really no choice at all.
I feel like the match making might be more dialed in on this COD. I definitely have those rounds where I am dominated by another team. However, I feel like there are more rounds where I am hitting that sweet spot of kill to death exchange. I know killstreaks are wonderful and feel great but if I can at least feel like I am holding my own, then I am having fun. Getting decimated is not fun and thus I have bounced off of other CODs in the past.
Ground War naturally is difficult to balance due to the player count so I still am slaughtered each time I load it up.

Which is where their new SBMM (skill based match making) comes into play. I love it, but a LOT of old school folks, and content creators, absolutely hate it. They think it has no place in non rank games. I whole hardheartedly disagree. They just miss having those rooms where they would have a 20+ kill streaks every other map. They say that's not it, but honestly none of their other arguments seem to make sense.
Yes, I have heard these arguments as well. I get that pounding people into the ground can be fun for those that are the hammer but for us nails, not so much. I think that everyone should have the opportunity to have a great round but it shouldn't be EVERY round. I know when I am having a great round someone is probably having a rough one. You have enough bad rounds and you just move on. I know I have in the past.

No, that's definitely the main thing I miss when any game forces SBMM in all modes. I absolutely loved it when I'd find a nice meaty server and just whale on fools for round after round.
The other thing is that, if all modes have SBMM, and you spend a reasonable amount of time playing to win as opposed to just for fun, you more or less lose the ability to ever be effective while playing for fun. In CoD, I really do like to mainly hold forward and sprint until I'm near enemies, have a gunfight with some little yomi moments with my nearby opponent(s), and then sprint looking for the next batch of foes if I wind up coming out on top. When you're always matched with people of similar gunskill, the guy playing campy is going to generally beat the guy playing sprinty. Hence the reason I quit this one after a couple weeks...I just don't like to camp in this franchise, and it was tough to get consistent runs going with sprinty play.
Not to mention there are perks to deal with campers. My favorite CoD memories is hunting down a camper and shutting him down life after life.

I feel like it's the richest sort of irony seeing people on Reddit complaining that SBMM keeps dropping them into lobbies full of "sweaties." Aren't they the ones advocating for the right to be a "sweaty" themselves in a lobby full of lesser skilled players?
I'm an average player who prefers a run and gun style and I think the matchmaking has been fine. SBMM has gotten into people's head to the point that they're mad because all of their matches are competitive. Well of course they are, have you ever played an FPS where everyone isn't doing their best to be competitive? They just don't have the random lower skilled players sprinkled in to farm kills off of. So now they label everyone else in the lobby a sweaty.
I also agree with you that the issue with campers is greatly exaggerated.
A Christmas newb. Level 35. What's that default sharp shooting rifle? It rules. I've had my best games using it
Also...I love domination.
Spent a bit of time with the co-op missions last night. It was pretty fun even just playing with randoms. The open maps, the classes... Made it pretty entertaining. Anyone on here up for playing it sometime? Generally play late at night Pacific on PS4.
