Nintendo Switch - Games You Can Play Right Now

Here's a Vice article from last year talking about Neverwinter Nights and the persistent world Arelith that's been running since 2002. It's an example of why NVN is the only one of these re-releases I'm considering picking up at full price.

How much of the total Neverwinter Nights package does the Switch version contain? I've kind of been assuming that it's just the pack-in single-player campaign. I in no way expect the module authoring tools to be included. Can you download player-made modules somehow? Can you connect to multiplayer servers? I don't expect it, but that does at least sound possible.

Yes, you can. It's everything including fan made dlc and mp.

Wrong, you can do everything and play everything, including mp, but it doesn't allow you to build:

The Aurora Toolset: Build your own world full of unique monsters, items, traps, encounters, and settings, then share your creation with the rest of the Neverwinter Nights community. (Windows only)

Dungeon Master Client: Become the storyteller! Control monsters, creatures, and characters your players will meet over the course of an adventure. (Windows only)

I did some googling and found a FAQ. It looks like the console versions of NWN get all the Bioware-made modules, and the Switch and Xbox versions get to connect to two major fan-made persistent world servers. So there's no connecting to arbitrary servers or large history of player-authored mods, but the existing community did get a little bit of support.

Crystalis is an underrated classic and I'm excited to see it again.

The SNES games are great, but I'm honestly more excited for the two NES games. Crystalis and Journey to Silius are both exceptional games with top-tier music.

Can the Switch play Crystalis?

Has there been Ring Fit Adventure discussion here? Or over in weight loss thread?

After some credits I earned on black Friday got it for $25 off at Amazon so started it up Sunday. Got through a couple sessions and feeling some healthy muscle soreness the next days. So far so good.

Wife even watched me play a little bit. My daughter was in the room and got scared by the dragon in the opening scene. Oops.

It's great! I'm now only running 3 days a week and doing ring fit 3 days a week. My only complaint is that the IR sensor is really bad at getting my heart rate compared to my Garmin watch. I wish they had a manual entry for that.

My son loves it.
My daughter likes it but she seems just a bit to short for the sensor to properly recognize movements. She still can play some of the minigames.
I like but need to get on a schedule.

Are you forced to weigh yourself every day with the Ring Fit as you had to do with the Wii Fit? I don't really like weighing myself so frequently as I find all the drastic ups and downs to be demotivating.

It hasn't asked me to weigh myself at all, though it did ask me to enter my weight at the beginning.

I haven't been good about sticking with it because I'm in the middle of turning my guest room from a random storage space into a functional room, and the area I would use for Ring Fit has been a major staging area for moving furniture and stuff. Even though I haven't been making a good exercise routine out of it, I've still been enjoying my time with the game. And I have liked using the ring by itself. Just hearing the beep and knowing it's counting has made using it more enjoyable.

Oh good! Thank you!

That's similar to my issue right now...the area where I would be using the ring is a mess due to reorganization, so I have no room to use it at the moment. I'm motivating myself by getting the ring as a reward for getting it all cleaned up.

Just wanted to make sure folks knew about the Qubic games giveaway.

Technically, I think you can buy their Color Book app/game to get the ball rolling...

I don't own it (yet) but they cut out the negative feedback stuff, like chastising you.

Yes. It's all positive but not annoyingly so! They even kinda encourage you to wrap up the workout early a lot. The only bummer I've had is a couple missed reps because of the sensor going a little wonky and my form wasn't perfect. If that happens, the rep doesn't count for anything which is a little annoying, but it rarely happens.

Unless it causes you to die against the boss. Grrr

I've generally been playing Ring Fit twice a week for the last two months. The RPG decision making is the sugar helping the medicine go down.

I noticed when I checked friends I was in 5th place out of 5 friends. Coming for you all.

And if we're not friends, friend me.

Dropping an update here in case people were looking at Bloodstained as a potential Switch purchase: I've been playing Docked the past couple of days and think, most of the time, the performance is fine.

But I recently completed the Twin Dragon Towers section, and there was a ton of frame drops and slow down there. So they've been cleaning it up a bit, but I can tell this is most certainly not the definitive experience of the game.

Now, last time I played, I was noticing a ton of major slow down when entering new areas in handheld mode. I can only imagine how harsh performance is when playing handheld.

Personally, I'm fine with this being a Switch game. The Switch really is my favorite gaming device due to its versatility and mobility (multiple docks, so I can play in any room I want, be it my office desk or my living room). But I imagine for most people, one of the other platforms would be your best bet for this game.

Big eShop sale going on.

Only 1st party game on sale is Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle, but that's $15 so I finally decided to check it out.

The Nintendo Eshop website is terrible. Anyone have a link that has a list of notable items on sale?

I don't want to browse by developer though. Also nothing loads with an adblocker enabled.

Edit: I just remembered somebody had recommended this for weekly deals. Looks like it works great for Holiday sale too if you expand the list. https://www.dekudeals.com/hottest

I have an adblocker and didn't have that issue at all.

If you use the eShop app on the switch itself you can select to just see sale items, but it's a jumbled mess. Nintendo is still incredibly bad at the internet, turns out.

When I clicked on certain links it would just be a blank page of items for sale with Ublock Origin enabled.

I still use CAG eshop thread, best I've found so far, updated all the time.

The way Nintendo runs their sales makes it hard to get a list like this. Or rather, it's the way that Nintendo doesn't run their sales. With very rare exceptions, Nintendo doesn't run sales on the eShop.

Individual publishers run sales, and they may or may not end up getting promotional placement on the main sales page that r013nt0 linked to. Even this current "sale" is dozens of sales (from Ubisoft, Team17, Bandai Namco, Square-Enix, and others) coincidentally occurring at the same time. That's why there aren't any first-party games on sale: Nintendo itself isn't running a sale right now. (Mario + Rabbids is developed and published by Ubisoft.)

The best approximation I've found for a list of what's on sale without all the bullsh*t is to go to the page that lists everything on sale, then filter it to Switch games that are available now, then sort it by price high to low. It sorts by non-sale price, so the hundred and hundreds and hundreds of disposable indies go to the bottom of the list. (I think this link will take you to a list sorted and filtered as described.)

Thanks Clockwork. I was just doing something similar with that dekudeals website. It lets you filter by digital content then hottest or most wanted. That seemed to get rid of all the clutter and it worked with my adblocker.

Nice, clocky. That link works for me. Thanks.

What I really want is a list that filters out the shovelware. A highlights sales list.

Clocky's helps. Most everything $10 regular price and under is crap. If it's not, you've specifically heard about it somewhere else.
