NFL 2019: Week 15

So in theory if Tom Brady goes out and throws 4 TD's on Sunday will they stop the game to recognize the new TD Record.. and then later if Bree's throws another 3 TD's.. will they stop that again re-recognize the new record? And then next Sunday if Tom throws 5 TD's will they stop again to re-re-recognize the new newer record? And then if Brees....

I hope so! Just go big on ridiculousness, NFL. Be as stupid as possible all the time.

Last night was mostly the Saints being ridiculous. It's the thing they do best beside losing on dumb plays.

Just as bad was Joe Tessitore yelling FIVE FOUR OH IN THE FIVE OH FOUR. I guess that means 540 TD passes in the New Orleans area code? Uh, OK.

I was a big Joe Tess fan before he got the Monday night gig, but now I find it hard to watch MNF. He also called the good Crawford / Lopez / Conlin boxing card on Saturday night and I honestly had to think twice before watching. (But Timothy Bradley and Andre Ward are weirdly endearing in a way that Booger isn't, so I didn't think too hard.)

MNF is unbearable with the current crew. There was a tweet a while back about learning Spanish just so you don't have to listen to those two idiots and can watch the ESPN Deportes stream instead. I've never wished I spoke Spanish so much.

Westwood One radio broadcast is solid.. the Eagles/Patriots SB is vastly better listening to that entire audio vs Collingsworth

Wow. The Ravens get 12 players voted to the pro bowl. I'm not sure I agree with many of them.

Let's take a look at the list:

Lamar Jackson - obviously, the MVP
Mark Ingram - only 7th in the AFC in rushing, but 5.0 yards a pop helps his argument. Still I'd call him a near-miss.
Patrick Richard - yes, almost by default. He, Jusczcyk, and CJ Ham are the only true full time fullbacks left in the league, and he's the only one that's in the AFC.
Ronnie Stanley - yes
Marshal Yanda - probably yes, even if he's not quite at the same level as his peak
Mark Andrews (2nd team) - probably would give this to Darren Waller instead
Matthew Judon (2nd team) - here's the first hard "no" from me, there's a lot of AFC edge rushers more deserving
Marcus Peters (2nd team) - he's contract year ballin', this is a yes from me even though I know it's a short-lived illusion
Marlon Humphrey (2nd team) - I think he's the better long-term guy for Baltimore, but Pro Bowl is overrating his 2019 a bit
Earl Thomas (2nd team) - another no, this is name recognition first and foremost, even though he's still been among the better AFC safeties, just not in the top 2.
Justin Tucker - no, because Josh Lambo's 96.6% beats his second place 95.8% and has made one more from 50+ than Tucker. Tucker is solidly #2 though.
Morgan Cox - f*ck if I know, I guess if all of their long snaps have been good?

I'll call 5 of them a yes, 3 of them (Andrews, Tucker, Ingram) near-misses that could reasonably be argued in, 3 of them (Humphrey, Thomas, Judon) good but not Pro Bowl caliber, and then the last one is a who-knows.

None of them will actually make it to the Pro Bowl so it's a pointless exercise.

12 players is a lot to make up for while the Ravens are in Miami.

My friend proposed that the Ravens tank the game against the Browns in the hopes of saving Freddie Kitchens' job as it would be "a net gain".

Ouch.

Everyone needs to watch this film clip from Matt Waldman and the Niners-Falcons game. It's a good clip because lots of excellent stuff going on, but Grady Jarrett somehow ends up helping finish off Mostert's run after being blocked to the ground. Nice stuff.

I thought I'd never find anything I dislike more than Joe Buck, but the MNF broadcast crew has accomplished this. It's awful.

The house cleaning begins

The Ravens, apparently, have no one on the injury report going into week 16.

I don't remember this ever being the case with Baltimore.

Breaking: Tom Coughlin fines Shahid Khan $25,000 for firing him.

lol. Best quote from the LeBatard Show this morning

"I'd love to go duck hunting with Devlin Hodges. Unfortunately, with his luck, the shot would be intercepted by a deer and returned for a touchdown."

If Matt Patricia was black would he have been fired by now or at the end of the season?? He’s getting another year of going backwards.

*BREAKING*

The Ringer has posted a great story on George Kittle:

The NFL is one of the most competitive places in human history. Each of its teams is worth a billion dollars. Coaches spend hundreds of hours each week looking for an edge. No sport is as scrutinized or overanalyzed. And sometimes, the league changes when a fifth-round draft pick from Iowa says, “Screw it, I’m just gonna run.”

hngg yeah baby inject that right into my veins

Nah, if he was black he would never have been hired in the first place.

QB was injured this season, which usually gives coaches a pass. I expect an in-season firing next year.
