Playstation 4 Catch-All

The Predator game definitely looks like Friday 13th Predator edition. Similar cheapness and jank but Holy crap that music and sound effects. I may be in despite myself.

I don't think it will. Though you now have me kind of scared since RE7 was, I think this one's going to be like RE2 and the whole first-person perspective was used to help tease the player. Remember that it began saying it was a "campaign mode" for Project Resistance, which is a third-person perspective just like RE2. Capcom effectively seems to be making a mod of RE2.

Yeah, I don't think so either, but most of the trailer was in first person.
That said, it could have just been for the trailer, since there were brief glimpses of Jill engaging in gun battles, and those were in third person.

Am I the only one hung up on how much Jill Valentine looks like Natalie Portman?

I hadn't noticed. I probably will now.

I thought she looks like the new Lara Croft without a ponytail myself, likely since her tube top has been swapped to a similar style of tank top.

Sweet. Looks like NieR: Automata gameplay. I'm all in on this one.

REmake 2 wasn't first person so I highly doubt REmake 3 will be. Carlos giving me those Spike Spiegal vibes.

Babylon's Fall is what I'm all about. A buddy of mine doesn't see where I get the Souls comparison, but the design of the bigger enemies and the general aesthetic makes me think of the whole Soulsborne thing. However, it's fast-paced and stylish, and as with all Platinum games an evasive/parry maneuver is immediately rewarded with an offensive strike. I think it's going to be a loose take on the Souls formula, if I were to predict anything. I mean, with Activision publishing Sekiro, I wouldn't be surprised if we see every major publisher trying to get their own Soulsborne property to franchise out over the years, and Square Enix could be looking for Babylon's Fall to be that.

It looks exactly like a Souls game, but is fast like a Platinum game. Definitely looks interesting.

Man, RE7 was such a stellar game, but I doubt this one will be. If they get around to an RE8, I'd love for it to be in first person/VR again. Playing that game in VR was a truly unique experience.

Rejoice, Taharka, for in this message from the devs, they confirm third person like RE2.

The RE3 remake looks awesome. I've never played a Resident Evil game in my life, but I'm hoping Santa will bring me the RE2 remake from earlier this year. There are too few third-person horror games for me not to play them all!

Sweet!
Now I just need a Dino Crisis 1 & 2 remaster, and I'll be happy!

You're not the only one hoping for some sort of Dino Crisis revitalization. A bunch of folks on the Internet are crossing their fingers for that.

Including me!

Me too! I loved those games.

Nobody:

Moby: is Jill a romancing option?

Well, this is something.

I would love to have back paddles on my PS4 controller, but this seems like a pretty weird time in the PS4 life cycle to introduce this kind of controller accessory. I'm also not sure why this thing needs an OLED screen.

Perhaps this is a preemptive measure to have forward compatibility with the PS5 controller, but the Wired PS5 article didn't have any mention of paddles on the controller, so who knows?

I simply thing "Back Button" is the worst name they could've come up with and am offended by it. A "back button" is where you move a webpage or other thing back. These should be called "Back of Controller Reassigned Button Pressing Waste of Space Bad Idea Addon We Are Selling Because R&D's Prototype for the DS5 Tested Poorly".

The idea is fine. If you've used an Xbox Elite controller, you know those back paddles are extremely convenient for a lot of games. It's just weird timing, and the screen seems unnecessary.

Paddles are great and should be incorporated into every controller. Thumbs should never be moved off the sticks. They solve a modern conundrum.

Really, I think the name is terrible more than anything.

I'd be all about it if I could still use my Niko Charging dock with it, but as it goes in the same port its a no go. The convenience of me being able to just set a controller down to charge it without plugging stuff is too much to loose

I would've been all over the DS4 Back Paddle, Butt...err, Back Plug device if it came out while I was knee deep in Destiny & rocking the Kontrol Freeks.

It appears my PS4 Pro is having trouble reading discs. The support page suggests first rebuilding the database or reinstalling the system software. If that doesn’t work, has anyone else run into this issue? Am I looking at having Sony fix it or having to buy a replacement?

I have an OG PS4 and the disc drive starts grinding away in perpetual eject mode, accompanied by periodic, annoying beeping. Rebuilding the database does help but only temporarily. Turning off PS4 instead of leaving in sleep mode also helps bit but the problem is still there.

I was ready to abandon disc games this generation but this issue made me a true believer.

It's very strange. Some discs it just refuses to work at all. Others it seems to have few or no problems. And others, if I try 6-12 times, it eventually works.

I'm crossing my fingers it'll last another year. Then we'll get a PS5 on day one and recycle this one.

I've had this issue off and on over the years. A couple of things have helped:

1 - try turning the PS4 off at the power point overnight
2- there is a screw you can tighten

Both of these have fixed it for a while, at least a few months, but I think there's a flaw in the OG PS4 that means it can't be fixed permanently.

Does the Back Button PS4 attachment suggest the PS5 controllers will just have paddles?

The ability to never click a thumb stick on a merely decent controller is very appealing to me. Currently my known options are either a cheapo PowerA controller that lasts a few months, or expensive options like Elite or Scuf full of bells and whistles I don't care about.

The screen on it looks large and pointless but whatever. Hopefully this gets us closer to a future where no one makes controllers without back paddles.

It would be great if the DS5 has paddles, but I'm certainly not going to be shelling out cash for the overengineered DS4 attachment, especially, as others have pointed out, this late in the console's lifetime.

As I was curious to see how Battlefront II has evolved over the last two years, I just re-upped my EA Access subscription on the PS4. Any hidden gems in there I should consider? I haven't played Anthem at all or Mass Effect: Andromeda. Either worth it? I'll also probably check out the latest NFS entry.

Double-Post!

Anthem is worth checking out, but don't expect a ton of game there. They're working on an overhaul. It's pretty though.
