NFL 2019: Week 14

Giant #1: Look at all these scrub backup TEs the Eagles have to play right now

Giant #2: Who should we ignore in coverage?

Giant #1: Zach Ertz obviously

I hate one-possession overtimes.

And Eli drops under .500.

Not too long ago, a come-from-behind win (against the giants no less!) to pull into a tie for first place would have been a cause for excitement.

Watching that play it looked like the giants' secondary wanted to make sure they could leave at a decent hour.

Definitely a Thurs night caliber game

Lol I just...just can’t...

Yeah, I was trying to figure out if his availability was on the Giants or his talent. Naturally, I'd like to believe the latter, but past weeks have shown...

Regardless, listening to some of the post-game stuff, and especially questions to Doug Pederson, it's like people want to stop asking the tough questions. Some even credited Vaitai as "performing excellently"! No one should be commending him! One of the worst pocket collapses gave a perfect slow-motion of his turnstyle method of defending the quarterback! Yet it seems like there's some real talent in the younger players on the team, which means strong possibilities for future seasons.

But not this one. I really believe we ought to hand this one to Dallas, let them lose in the first round, and take the extra time to heal.

Also, it sounded like a lot of analysts were commenting on Wentz making a lot more of his own calls, especially out of pocket, during those last stretches of an otherwise awful game. Precisely the sort of thing I've been mentioning and wondering about all season.

It could be this was just a flash in the pan and they'll be back to their old selves next week, but if they can bring this fight back to Dallas in two weeks then, hey, maybe we have a sense of who Eagles could have been all season long.

Or maybe I'm still insisting on blaming this all on Mike Groh. I mean, come on, Jim Schwartz returned to zone for a while, but towards the end there he swapped back to man-to-man coverage and oh wow wouldn't you know it worked.

The ABC booth guys couldn't talk enough about how Eli is DEFINITELY A HOF QB BECAUSE RINGS AND YARDS

I think I sprained my eyes when they rolled way up into the back of my head.

Jerome Bettis Syndrome confirmed.

"I got your flag!"

I think its a combination of many things.. the team is old and has old players that get frequently hurt.. so its no surprise that many people are frequently hurt. The under 25 guys on the roster are some of the worst in football. I honestly think the 2017 Super Bowl was a complete accident at this point.. Bellacheat has to still be wondering how he managed to lose to that team.

Its a complete roster overhaul and yet Howie keeps throwing contract extensions around like they are candy.. You can't realistically move on from both Nelson and Alshon so your stuck with that dreck for another year. So next year will be even worse than this year.. but if we can actually draft some talent then maybe we can see a return to form at some point..

The real fear is that your so called Elite Franchise QB is really not that accurate.. and not that good.. and thus your pretty much screwed.

I think Miles Sanders might actually be good.. but you can't build around running backs and their shelf life is around 4 to 5 years.. so Howie needs to turn this around ASAP.

Looks like the hit that hurt Lamar Jackson was a low hit on the Hayden Hurst TD pass from the pocket.

I think he's a very interesting case study, in no small part because of the ascendance of the "RINGZZZZ" discourse.

I'm a Giants fan, and I could go either way. He's a above-average QB with major turnover issues who, for two years, had great playoff runs, but never won a single playoff game outside of those runs.

Never won a playoff game outside those runs? No sh*t?!? There's no way he gets in.

Eli is in..he beat the Patriots not once but twice and spared us from the horrors of the Patriots having an undefeated run...he’s a first ballot Hof’er, and if there is any justice they will construct a gold f*cking statue of him because he is a god damn American hero. I’ll fight anyone who says different.

They should also rename the trophy to the Manning Trophy...Lombardi? Pffftttt....

I was going to argue for his exclusion but GG's convinced me. The man's a saint!

Hmm either that GG post is extremely sarcastic or he has been taken over by a doppelganger.

I'm fairly certain Guru would actually saint Eli if he could.

Saint Eli of Pie Face.

GG's distaste for the Patriots >>> GG's distaste for NFC East rivals > GG's distaste for his own team

Draw Play's guest comic on point:

No one remembers what that drawing is talking about because it involves the Jags.

It works even better if you say it in Jessie Ventura's voice from the Predator (OG version).

River boat Ron will probably and should get a job.

Meanwhile.... The Mike McCarthy redemption tour commences

Yeah, about 380 miles south.
