Apex Legends - Catch All

I am a terrible, terrible zombie in Shadowfall - Watson and Mirage especially have my number - but man do I love flying around the map that fast and jumping that high.

Dumb question I couldn't find an answer on when googling: on PC, what key responds to the "say thanks" prompt?

Edit: I figured it out. Thanking has apparently been moved to the quip wheel.

So duos launched...
I am hoping to see less paired teams in the standard three player games. It was frustrating to drop and have a duo not involve me in their match, no pings, rushing fights as two v three, not rezing, etc. I have more fun in a match with a functional three player team.

I'm excited about duos and will come back to dip my toes in some. Having a 3rd player be pub is just too annoying even if he's good.

Thanks for playing with me DomonicKnight! I found myself in a solo lobby after our last game, not sure what happened.

It was fun! That's happened before though, it's some weird bug when you disconnect from the match it boots you into separate lobbies and then claims your party is full.

I love this game way too much. I have a hard time playing anything else.

Hmm, I get too amped up. I don't like to play for more than an hour or two, the adrenaline wears me out.

...and then I start making stupid mistakes

I used to get that way a lot playing Apex, but it stopped. Then it happened again the other day, and really took me by surprise!

I play better after having an adult beverage, letting it dull down my amped up self.

Hot Take:
This is the game I am married to and it's still really good. That is all.

Same. I was planning on that status being taken up by my re-engaging with Destiny, but it's been made clear to me that Destiny is a grind and wants all of my time, while Apex just wants me to immediately have fun every time I play.

I'm still playing Destiny a day or two a week, and it's like, good, but I don't think I want to be in a committed relationship with an MMO anymore.

I have maxed both battlepasses so far and am on the road to doing so with this one, and I still have time for other games. I appreciate that.

Have been playing the latest CoD for the last month, so I haven't played much Apex. On a whim, I dove in last night to play three ranked matches and ended up winning two of them. Luck? Have I gotten better? Or a quirk with the ranking system?

Nice! I played four matches last night which got me two wins and two runner-ups, easily my best night ever for efficiency - but that wasn't ranked.

so unhappy they didn't keep duos. easily my favourite thing to play.

Duos was definitely fun. I had a lot more fun in armed and dangerous because it gave me a chance to improve with other guns I wouldn't typically pick up.

My friends and I have been playing for a few hours ever night. Some nights we have great luck, and other nights we get 0 wins. Unfortunately, we can't play in ranked because they are in platinum and I'm still in gold - and the play styles in the two are a HUGE learning curve.

Well, turns out it might have been a fluke. I advanced to Silver last night (from Bronze) and did not have the same luck. Five games and no wins.

That said, I really like the new map. Feels like it has way more variety and is far more interesting. Makes me wish for Titanfall 3.

Big changes coming to Apex Dec 3rd

Player Level cap increased from 100 -> 500
XP required to hit level 100 has been reduced by approximately 5% to smooth out per level XP increases
Players can now earn 199 Apex Packs by level 500 (previously 45)
Level 2 - 20: One pack every level
Level 22 - 300: One pack every two levels
Level 305 - 500: One pack every five levels
You will continue to earn 600 Legend Tokens per level
Apex Packs rewards will be retroactive
Players will also earn a Player Level Gun Charm every 100 Player Levels

Personally i'm still having fun doing the camo grind in CoD and the new 2v2 tourney mode they just started today. I may start back up to dabble, but odds of me making it to 500 are slim especially with their new BR coming up in late '19 or early '20

Christmas skins have started to leak. It also sounds like there's a Polar Express-themed game mode that's king of the hill with a train.

Wasn't that part of Season 3? I recall a snowy train ride in the trailer. I never played any in season 3. Just couldn't bring myself to jump back in after a big break, some seriously bad rounds in S2, and another break.

You didn't want to try the new map? It's so good!

There is a train on the new map, and snow, but no Christmas theme, or train-emphasizing mode.

Started up the PS4 and found 14 apex packs to open. Some gold items, lots of blue. Plenty of common.

I was watching The Game Awards tonight when Mirage video conferenced into the show to say that the Winter Holo-Days were starting immediately. SO COOL. Love that stuff, but I've never been a player of a game that's done that kind of announcement during E3 or whatnot.

The Winter Express mode is a fun diversion, although I don't think I'd like to play it with just a squad of randos. Haven't played battle royale yet to check out the Mirage Voyage.

I dove into the Winter Express mode for a round and kept forgetting I started with weapons. So you can imagine how well I'm doing there.

Like I said above, I think I only want to play Winter Express with people I know. It's fun, though!

I got my 3 wins in Winter Express with a friend and stopped. Its a fun game type, but I'm not sure it's what I'm looking for when I play Apex. As Fed says, it might be better with a dedicated team, but we did fairly well for partners (excluding one guy who was convinced spraying an area with automatic fire is better than focusing on the target!)

Man! Thursday night I had easily my best two-game performance ever. Not amazing for a lot of folks, but great by my standards:

First game, despite reviving and respawning both of my teammates twice, they died and I was left solo with maybe four squads left. There were no beacons left and I had to move to the circle. I tucked myself behind some of those ice explosions uphill from Epicenter, but a squad of two had seen me and started throwing grenades. Since I was Wraith, I ran right at them and then phased through them. I was running away and just praying to make to new cover, getting shot along the way. Down to no shields and 50% health, I finally turned a corner and started a shield battery. Once I got that off, I expected to be set upon at any moment, but the attack never came and I used a medkit as well. I assumed my attackers must have decided to head straight for the next circle rather than follow me. I started moving towards it as well, taking cover behind a small rock that was barely large enough to hide me.

The game was down to three squads, and the last one appeared to be on the far side of the circle, on a cliff. They started shooting at the squad that had attacked me, and the two traded shots for a minute and a half, until the ring started to force everyone together. I just chilled next to my tiny little rock, hoping no one would notice me, even though at many times they had completely unobstructed views of my spot. As the ring brought them together, their numbers started to dwindle, until I could see only one person standing. I opened up on her with my R301, and that was that!

I ended that game with six kills and over 1300 damage done, which while not my personal best is probably in my top ten. Oh, and all during the game my son was calling me through our monitor to come up and check on him. I kept telling him I'd come up as soon as the game was done. When it was, I did, and told him all about my win.

The next game was less memorable. My teammates were two little kids, although it turned out they weren't together. We managed to all make it alive to the end, and I once again got the final kill. Somehow I finished with even better numbers: Seven kills and over 1500 damage done.

The following night I also got a win where I was once again had the most kills by some distance, this time five. Shortly thereafter I started playing with one of my usual squadmates, and my performance dropped off. I swear, I have thought for a long time that I do worse when I'm partied up with people, although I can't imagine why - unless it's the SBMM (skill based matchmaking) hit from partying with players who are better than me.
