It exists.

Edit: Deleted post. On reflection, what was in my mind was a piece of witty social commentary, yet ended up coming across as privileged, tone deaf, and gross.

Think twice. Draft thrice. Then post.

There, that's your tag. Someone tell Eleima.

Plastic instrument games have gone away? Beat Saber says hi - only the instrument goes on your face and costs hundreds of dollars.

Not sure I'd call Beat Saber the cultural phenomenon that Guitar Hero and Rock Band were, but I'm picking up what you're putting down.

I hope you have Aaron back on after playing some more Destiny 2 because he was all geared up to talk about it and the discussion stayed super general. Now that we all have access to Destiny 2, and as someone who bounced off the original, I'd loved to have heard some juicy tidbits of lore or whatever to hype me to play the game. I know the word of mouth has been pretty good since the game is no longer under Kotick's grubby mitts.

Aaron’s Luigi impression made my night.

Bravery is not the absence of fear, bravery is action in the face of fear. And in that, Luigi has all the bravery he needs.

In fact, the absence of fear is a symptom of Sociopathy.

(And we learned from Ennuigi that Mario is probably a sociopath.

You're right, but...

Beat Saber has seeped into my bones in exactly the same way the plastic instrument games did. With both, I bought in as an early adopter, and played the ever living crap out of them over years, and worked my way up to the highest difficulty levels slowly but surely (still working on Beat Saber Expert+).

A singleplayer game isn't going to have that same cultural impact as Rock Band parties, but as the price of entry for Beat Saber has effectively dropped to a similar pricepoint as a full Rock Band setup (e.g. Oculus Quest / PSVR), I know of more than one group house that has Beat Saber nights, where they pass the headset around, in a not too dissimilar fashion to the old Rock Band parties.

I was all ready to hop on here and see people's suggestion for awful game concepts to save the world!

Here's mine: Stardock's Galactic Civilizations 2 (or 3), except with all the jank, bugs, and mis-handling of Fallen Enchantress. Also, the ship design and ship combat has been replaced by the awful Gummi Ship stuff from the original Kingdom Hearts.

A rogue like democracy simulator sounds kind of awesome actually. Now that I think about it though, aren't they all kind of rogue like in that it gives you random scenarios and if you don't get reelected it's game over? Maybe put it on a spaceship and also the name Battlestar Galactica on it, and now it's perfect.
