Post a Picture of Your Silly Purchase of the Month.

Someone stole my hair. Going to have to wear a hood now. People are going think I'm going as antifa for Halloween.

Remember, Remember the 5th of November.

A man so manly that his beard also has a beard.

Some of the pedals, and the amp, are not silly purchases of this month.

The pedalboard and power supply, fuzz, and delay ARE silly purchases of this month.

Music purchases are NEVER silly and always a good choice. With that said, that orange amp is awesome. I really like the carbon copy delay. Good choice.

The silliness comes in with regard to my budgeting rather than the purchases themselves. And I agree, that delay is just lovely, I have been really enjoying playing with it.

I did not need this but got it anyway....

I want one really bad, but they seem like a bad idea with a seven year old in the house. I know she'd try to sneak in the office and print something on here own like she does on my Pruse currently. Maybe in a couple years they'll be less toxic.

I will admit, I've thought of a million things it would be convenient or fun to 3d print and the only thing keeping me from getting a 3d printer is the overwhelming mountain of 3d printers out there with no idea how to pick something.

Just googled this and it looks to be well-regarded as a budget pick. Is this a good place to get started for 3d printing?

A friend of mine has one. He's built some interesting things for his board game collection, but now I think that he hasn't used it in months.

This is a resin printer so useful for small things like minis but nothing that you want to not be delicate. Probably the Prusa MK3S is the best mid range right now. Buy it assembled for 1k and it pretty much works out of the box.

Yeah I got this one because it was relatively cheap (260) and seemed like it would be good for minis. I plan to print mostly small high detail stuff. Plus the reviews are excellent.

That said resin based stuff seems like it'll be annoying. I'll know more in a few days when I get to play with it.

I don't know much about the consumer grade printers, but I had access to a 5 or 6 figure printer at school that had separate filaments for the printed object (quite solid) and support material (intentionally brittle) and it would automatically add supports as needed. The resin printers seem like they would have some of the same advantage of not worrying about how a model will be supported during printing; you can just design your part/model however you like and print it even if it is an upside down pyramid held up by legs that sprout out of the top and arch down.

I did some work at another school that had consumer grade printers and learned that I was spoiled by high resolution and not worrying about support.

I bought a Photon not too long ago and never quite got around to posting it in this thread!

I've been running it for a couple months now and feel like I'm getting into a groove. Support work is definitely a thing, though I don't have much experience working with FDM printers to compare it to.

I guess it shouldn't surprise me that there are a bunch of active 3d printers here. Do we have a thread for such? I'd love to swap some tips with people outside of that horrible toxic facebook group.

I may have bought metal coins for board gaming. Are they necessary? Of course not. Are they silly? Of course they are!

Got my first mini printed Just thought to share here as well before I shoved off to the 3d printer thread:

Looks good! Will you paint it?

How well does the surface accept paint? I grew up painting in an era when men were men, and miniatures (and paint, for that matter) were made of toxic metals which painted wonderfully. I never felt that the plastic models looked quite as good, but it certainly would be tempting to print my own.

No plans to paint it for now but from what I understand it's no different from other minis painting. Just put a later of primer and you are good to go.

I am cultivating a collection of cheap Casio's. This is my 2nd this month.

You need to get one of these. It was good enough for Tony Stark!

I can barley get mine around my wrist because it's a woman's watch. I'd have to strap two Doras together to make it fit.

Thanks for providing context, Nickson.

I was weak. I can't resist an armored man with a big gun:

Yeah, I may have like, pre-ordered. Something.

I very much want this. Sideshow makes some amazing stuff.

I'd almost rather have him in the shiny armor though. Regardless, that is gorgeous.

The size of his breastplate in that costume always makes me think that he's wearing one that he's way outgrown. Then I want to see the fat version of him in that costume. Then I start imagining that Mando is actually Fat Thor who found The Way as part of his recovery.

I also still have no idea why he insists on wearing a cape. Nobody else in the show seems to, and Edna Mole would not approve.

I actually think I've seen him trip over it in the show.

Yeah but...
