New She-Ra season!

Mini-Sorb is watching it right now. Without me.

Seriously I’m writing her out of her inheritance.....

Woohoo!

Season 3 of Atypical is out. Watched the first few episodes and it's typical Atypical. 4 out of 5 stars so far.

I saw that it was out, but then spent the next few minutes trying to remember if I had watched season 2. I remember season 1 and how it ended clearly. I’m sure I watched 2 but don’t recall any of it.

I've given up on trying to keep up with the kids on shows, it's just not possible with the amount of time they have for idle pursuits versus me.

Suvanto Jr 1st is down with cold (again..) and he's reporting that She-Ra is not as good as previous season.

I think I’d read a news article which pointed out that this new season will have a Character who is gender fluid. Or was that last season?

There’s a nonbinary character (they/them pronouns) introduced this season.

It focused a lot more on the parents and their relationship. There's a recap at the beginning of EP1 which may help you remember.

There's a new mini-season of Queer Eye out set in Japan. For some reason the episodes are listed as a separate show rather than being added to the main series. But, overall, still just as delightful as ever.

I just watched Hell or High Water and thought to myself "how the hell did I not know about this movie when it first came out?".

I just finished Living with Yourself, and I really, really liked it.

So Daybreak was interesting. Teenage post apocalypse with deadly cliques. There were several twists I didn't see coming and one big twist I did see coming, but not at all they way it went down in the end. I'd give it a passing grade and a recommendation if you aren't fed up with the post apocalypse oeuvre.

That is surprising since it got a lot of praise and was advertised quite a bit.

Wife couldn’t handle the 4th-Wall breaking... made it 3 episodes.

What show are you talking about?

Yeah... What do we call it when it wasn’t exactly EvilDeadhausered (message was different), but its position still messed up my post, by being after it...... (edited my original for clarity).

We call it "Ferris Bueller meets Walking Dead".

Edit: I, personally, feel that is an especially accurate description since it features Matthew Broderick as Principal Burr - who, again in my opinion, could be an over-the-hill, run-down-by-life's-commitments Ferris Bueller.

I shouldn't be surprised we thought the same thing, vypre. I think of it as a cross between Ferris Bueller's Day Off and Mad Max with a little bit of Zombieland thrown in. I'm only two episodes in, but I'm loving it so far.

The Spy was pretty good, a well made series about a Mossad agent who infiltrated the Syrian regime in the 1960s. Interesting slice of history I hadn't heard about before, and they make it exciting to watch. As with any show based on real people and events though, I find it frustrating not knowing where reality ends and some creative license was used. I mean, surely the Syrians weren't that inept?

If it's not a documentary, then it's fiction. What matters is, were you entertained?

It's entertaining in its own right, but no doubt involving real people and events adds a bit of spice.

I can see how he would say that now that I've finished it. It's a good season, but certainly not at the peak as I found last season to be. If/When they announce the next season, I'm stoked to see what happens next.

I finished Atypical Season 3. It was a bop.

Is... is... is that good? (what's a "bop").

I've just started season 3, and it seems pretty good so far.

It is good. I was intentionally misusing the word "bop" which is applied songs today that are good. But it was also a reference to something in the show regarding a milkshake.

Spoiler:

It wasn't a punch. It was a bop.

Ad Vitam

It's a six part French miniseries set in a future where, thanks to a medical treatment called Regeneration, humans are effectively immortal.

The story revolves around a 120-year-old cop who's trying to unravel a decade old mystery of a mass suicide of young people along with a 20-something women who was involved when she was a teenager.

Something about this series grabbed me because it wasn't just a futuristic police serial. The show handled the concept of people living 170+ years much better than Altered Carbon, which kinda just dropped the whole Methuselah storyline for Laurens Bancroft.

Ad Vitam also had a nice attention to detail that made the world, though stark, seem real and lived in--Regeneration clinics were everywhere, kinda dingy, and staffed by bored techs; the main character was going to be retrained for a new career because he had reached the end of three 33-year terms as a cop, the most allowed by law; and, there was a group of specialists called "grievers" that helped survivors cope with the death. The little touches really worked for a show that didn't have a huge budget.

The pacing dragged a bit in some of the episodes, but the cinematography and soundtrack were very good. It's very much worth it if you want a little cerebral sci-fi.

Has anyone checked out End of the F***ing World season 2 yet? I liked the first season but thought it ended in a way that a season 2 wasn’t needed- maybe not possible. Wondering if it’s worth checking out.

Okay I just watched episode 2. Makes MUCH more sense now
