Portland, Oregon Meetups

I should be able to make the 17th as well.

Cool so that's 3 of us so far.

Reposting this bit since we're on a new page:

"While I don't think Boogle's responded yet, looking at the survey it looks like most everyone is happy to be flexible on the date but there's a fairly strong first preference to see if we can get together to play board games. Also at least one person is working Saturdays so Sunday would be helpful.

I can offer to host at my house on Sunday November 17th. I'm in inner SE near Division and Powell.

Let me know here if that can work for you all and I'll settle on a time (right now I'm thinking the afternoon) and then direct message you my address.

- Rahmen"

I can probably make that.

Sunday the 17th looks good to me at this point. Thanks Rahmen for being willing to host!

Yeah, I think I can do that.

Most likely in.

I'm gonna end up having a lunch thing with friends, it looks like, so I probably won't make it.

Ok so it seems like we have enough interest so I’ll definitely plan on having you all over that day. Looking forward to it.

Unfortunately, I'm out on that day (D&D day!), but I hope you all have fun!

Sorry you won't be able to join us.

I think we'll start at 2pm on Sunday. I'll have a few snacks and things ready but feel free to bring some.
I also have a few board games but bring some too if you've got them.

If anyone has something crunchier they are hoping people might play, it might be good to post what you might be bringing so people might be able to try and familiarize themselves ahead of time. If you do bring something, come ready to show us how to play.

I'll send a PM later today to those who entered their names in the survey with my address. If you didn't or read this later, send me a PM if you need it.

I've sent out the PMs with my address. If you don't get it, post here or better yet send me a PM.

A few people have checked in to reconfirm they will make it tomorrow. Let me know if you still need my address and if you can still make it. It’ll help with my planning.

Sorry I couldn't make it, everyone. I really wanted to, but the last couple of weeks, especially last week, my anxiety and insomnia have been cranked really high. I needed a day completely at home, nothing to do. No driving, riding in cars, etc.

I'll make the next one.

No problem, DSGamer!

Thanks for hosting Rahmen! It was a lot of fun!

My pleasure. It was great seeing everyone who could make it.

Anyone have any thoughts about another afternoon in January or February?

Up for doing one, for sure.

Hey folks. Using this thread to check in and see how everyone is doing? Have you moved to the coast yet, Tuffalo? Are you guys okay?

We are doing ok as we live close in Portland. My daughter and her roommate brought some things up and are hanging out as a precaution since they live in Wilsonville. (So bonus social distancing in the house)

Hope everyone else is alright

I'm in the middle of the St. John peninsula, so things would have to be going VERY badly for us to be under threat. That said, I have standing offers to friends that they can crash with us for a few days if they're forced out.

There are a couple smallish fires about 30 minutes away to the south and west of us in Washington County. I'm not expecting them to reach us or anything, but I'm definitely keeping an eye on various news and alert sources.

That’s about where we are. Beaverton should be safe, but having just evacuated Lincoln City yesterday, we have a go bag packed just in case.

My dad and I fished the river in Newport yesterday. Super smokey hellscape the whole day. My dad bugged out to Keizer, and I dropped the boat and left it and the tent at the campground in Newport and drove back to Portland down I-5. Going through Salem and it being black as night was just crazy. Nor sure when we might be able to go back.

Oh man. Glad you guys are safe, though. Let us know if you need anything.

Alive in SE

I have a friend that had to evacuate from Washington Co but I’m in the middle of Inner SE, the city would have to basically be leveled before I’m affected.

Good to hear. What part of Washington County? The Bald Peak fire?

Drove back from blue skies western Montana into the smoke filled Willamette valley yesterday. Usually it's the opposite.

Topped up fuel tanks and grabbed the camper from storage, filling the fresh water. Keeping it hooked up in case of a need to scoot out if Salem.

Watching the satellite data as close as I can, but that is getting slammed with requests. Feel pretty comfortable that we won't need to depart, but Clackamas Co. is now feeling the pressure.

Not looking forward to the details on loss of life once Search and Rescue start bringing back those reports. Historical event.

Imagine my concern seeing a bunch of meetup threads reactivate. I'm so glad you folks are all doing okay. Thanks for creatively accessing these threads for the good and well-being of others.

Historical event. :(

Yeah. I went to high school in Jefferson, so the fact that Mill City and Detroit are gone is insane. We did so much camping up that highway growing up. I went over the Mill City falls in a 2 person raft with my mom and flipped the raft. We got pulled into other rafts and got our crappy raft flipped.

If you need a quiet street in Portland to park a truck and RV, hit me up. Our neighborhood isn't crowded with plenty of street parking, and we could help you out with whatever you need.
