We watched it (Overlord) on Netflix (Canada), several weeks ago.

Brb, moving to Canada. Tim Horton's is great, eh?

Spoiler:

Am I doing this right?

Come on in... the water’s fine.

Spoiler:

For skating on.

I got Overlord when it first came out on disc.

Just watched In the Mouth of Madness remaster. I already seen this movie but this is my first time with the remaster. The movie is about a book that drives people insane when they read it. This is a creepy movie with hellish images. Very good movie for Halloween. The re watch wasn't as good but like I said still good movie. I was mostly in it to see the monsters in HD. If you like movies like Videodrome you will probably like this movie.

This is absolutely my favorite horror movie of all time. One of the many classic John Carpenter films. It's a Lovecraft homage, though it would be decades before I learned that and started reading Lovecraft.

I don't buy DVDs anymore, but I have strongly considered the deluxe remaster they just issued because I'd get all the commentaries, behind the scenes, etc.

While I love In the Mouth of Madness, it is not his greatest. Just last week, I caught John Carpenter's magnum opus The Thing in theaters and it was spectacular. The fact that half the people I was with hadn't seen it before was an added bonus.

Finally saw that for the first time, last year I think, and it was fantastic.

Funny story about first-time Carpenter viewings: My wife and I watched Big Trouble in Little China recently, truly a desert island film for me and a huge part of my childhood and why Carpenter is my favorite director. When the movie ends, I'm sitting there glowing, with just a tinge of bittersweet because I'm thinking "The only way to improve this movie would be to make it longer."

She turns to me and says "We never need to watch this again."

Watched Suspiria on amazon prime. This is one long movie at a little over two and a half hours. The horror moments are few and far between but they are epic in levels of body horror. I'd call it a slow burn but I wasn't bored. I thought it was a great Halloween movie having one of the best uses of witches since Vvitch. It also stars one of my favorite actresses, Tilda Swinton, which is the main reason it was on my watch list. Loved her since The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe. Ha another movie with a witch.

You might not understand what is going on at first but the movie becomes crystal clear by the end. A couple of reactions wont make sense until the end of the movie. Stay with it and everything is tied up in a bow. You might wander where the F somethings come from but the where isn't important.

Going to have to dig out my copy of The Thing now and rewatch, its been a while.

Did everybody read that cool short story that was basically the movie The Thing but it was in 1st person from the view of the Thing?

Didn't know that existed.

No, but now I'm intrigued. Is it called Thing or does it have a different name?

edit* Asked and answered

Watched The Eyes of the Mother on netflix. I liked watching this movie but think it is bad. This is a black and white artsy fartsy movie. There is murder, enslavement and crazy in this movie but the main theme is loneliness. The movie needed more explanation. There are a bunch of inconsistent things. For example a person dies but nobody cares. No reason is given why no one cares this person died. Them later on the dead person is really missed.

Not a horror movie really or a Halloween movie. This is a something is wrong with this person movie.

Watched Mandy which is totally METAL, HEAVY METAL! Plot is your basic revenge fantasy after your lady gets fridge. The difference this movie has is the crazy, demons, drug trips, cult leaders, and Cage. The first half of this movie is boring setup for Mandy that really isn't needed. The second half is non stop murder of demons and jesus cult.

There is a tiger in this movie. Why is there a tiger in this movie? Tigers are F ing METAL. At one point the main characters makes a axe out of molten metal, why? Because that S is METAL, literally METAL. This entire movie is every metal record cover. So if you don't understand something in this movie the answer is always because it is METAL, HEAVY METAL!!!!! You can't see it but right now I'm playing the air guitar and bang my head up and down.

Is this good Halloween movie? I don't know, it isn't scary. The demons might just be bikers. There are hellraiser and evil dead references. There is a ton of blood. Maybe a borderline Halloween movie

Mandy is another one I'm really interested in seeing.

Watched Eli on netflix. This is a movie about a boy that can't live outside or he'll die. His parent takes him to a special doctor to cure him. Here strange things start happening.

I liked the end of the movie but the build up to it wasn't good. The main problem being people not acting like they should knowing what they know. Then certain things didn't make sense given what the situation was.

The movie has ghost and other things so it could be considered a Halloween movie. There are some medical scares and a few more horror related situations.

Watched The Simpsons Tree house of Terror XXX which is the only time I watch the simpsons now. This wasn't that good, not the worse but not good. Didn't laugh at all. I was surprised they did the fish movie. I was also surprised that one of the sisters is gay.

Given that this was 666th episode I thought the show would be better. Still good for a Halloween show.

Watched Stake Land and part of Stake Land 2 both were bad. Both are on Amazon prime. These are vampire movies but the vampires are more like zombies. The world has mostly fallen but there are still pockets of normal life. The big problem like in most zombie movies is the other people. Boring. However, there was one really good scene in the first movie where bad people make creative use of zombies. oh oh sorry, vampires.

I guess they are ok Halloween movies. Vampires and zombies are part of Halloween. The movies are scary or that gory. The makeup is pretty bad. I found it odd at how serious these movies are considering how dumb they are. I would suggest Zombieland rather than these movies. The plots are pretty much the same except Zombieland is a good movie.

Watched CAM on netflix. I really dug this movie which is about a cam girl. I thought it was rather creepy low budget film. People that put parts of their lives online might find this more unsettling then others. Kind of feels like a Black Mirror episode, definitely has some of the same themes. Some of things that happen are possible now. One youtuber just posted about something like this happening to her. Not the crazy part but the stolen identity part. The less crazy part of the stolen identity.

I don't think this is good Halloween movie. I did get this movie and all of these movies off Halloween movie lists so someone thought they were good Halloween movies. Good movie just not a good Halloween movie.

Watched The Dead on Amazon prime. This is a zombie movie that takes place in the wilds of Africa. I liked seeing a zombie movie in set in Africa for a change of pace. You might think it is all white guy killing black people which does happen a lot but there is also a black protagonist. The pair travel the land trying to get out of town or find a son while avoiding zombies. If you had problems with the resident evil game that took place in Africa you might have a problem with this movie.

The movie is long and kind of dull. There are a lot of long shots on things like boots. The movie is very low budget. Not much dialogue. The oddest thing is how zombies seem to teleport from nowhere. You have these huge open spaces that are empty but then a bunch of zombies show up.

Not a good Halloween movie. Not scary at all. There is a sequel but I have no idea how it got made since this is pretty meh.

Seen Scary stories to tell in the Dark which I really liked. Got your classic book that has stories that come to life. Kind of like Goosebumps but better. No real gore but people do die. Some of the monsters are creepy but not really scary. The creepy comes from knowing the kid are going die.

A very good movie to see this Halloween. Takes place on and around Halloween. Fun movie.

Some tv shows I'm watching are Evil, Grimm, Van Helsing and Castle Rock. Evil is good so far kind of like X files but only dealing with demon type stuff. Grimm deals with monsters that live among us like the game/comic Fable. Van Helsing is buffy type show and is terrible but still watch it. Castle Rock is like the stephen king universe smashed together. Oh and I'm also watching The Walking Dead.

All of them are good Halloween shows. Evil just had a Halloween episode that was pretty good.

Watched Cult of Chucky on netflix. Was a bit dumb but that is what I was hoping for. The story was wacky and didn't make sense. Chucky was fun in the usual way. Kills weren't all that good. Some really bad cgi on a few scenes.

The movie makes many callbacks to the previous movies so you might want to watch the movies in order. I didn't do this. I didn't do this and know I missed some stuff.

Okay, I watched it thanks to Shudder's free trial. It was fine; not a waste of time, but not one I will be telling others they need to see.

Speaking of how metal it is, though, I found a website that says the axe in it is patterned after the F in the Celtic Frost logo. Pretty easy to see when they're side by side.

Watched The Adams Family Halloween special which is free on youtube. What can I say its the old black and white Adams Family. I guess all I can say is don't be afraid for we are only little children.

Watched Halloween 2018 version and liked it but not as much as the original. This is the only newer Halloween I have seen. Was thinking of doing a marathon of all the Halloween but don't have a real desire to watch the other ones. Also wanted to do a game or games for Halloween.

Guns are the heroes and villains of this movie. There was a kid with a gun early on that made me laugh. I don't think it was meant to be funny. Kind of sad I didn't see this one in theaters. Usually I'm not big on the big screen but this one would be better with a crowd.

This isn't scary at all. There was violence of coarse but it was rather tame. Many of the kills were off screen and you only saw the aftermath. I'm also very bad because I keep calling michael myers Jason. He would so kill me.

Again I did like the movie but over all it is dumb. One guy takes a breaks bad for no reason. Bad guy is down and they run instead of using their guns to take head shots. Someone runs for help and we never see the person again. Did Jason kill the person, I don't know. What I'm saying is you can punch truck sized holes into this but it is still fun.

This is obviously the best of the best movies to watch on Halloween. Samhain, the lord of darkness will come and bless you if you watch this on Halloween. Or he might kill you for trying to turn a pagan holiday into some bastardization like they did with poor Santa.

I believe I watched something Halloween related every day this month. Didn't post on all of them but I watched them. Also some were tv shows like the walking dead or the purge tv show. So in the end I win at Halloween. Also completed my trek costume.

My regret is not watching anime or reading more comics. I didn't want to start another anime series before finishing one I'm already watching. I did start Batman The Long Halloween but didn't get far enough to comment on it and it might not be the best halloween comic book despite the name.

Oh that does remind me I'm reading Dread Nation. The dead rises up and start eating during slave times. Think Pride Prejudice and Zombies but told from the point of view of a black female. I think it is just ok. There aren't enough zombies. What keeps me going is more this spunky lady living in this racist world. Also reminds me of abraham lincoln vampire hunter which I really liked. Most people seem to hate this but I loved it.

I can give you a rundown of the other Halloween movies if you'd like. That way you don't have to watch them.

We finally got around to watching Jordan Peele's Us. I think it had a brilliant basic premise but Peele struggled with implementation. The final twist was telegraphed way early in the film and the more you think about the plot, the less sense it makes (fridge logic). In fact, the movie really only makes sense taken metaphorically, as taken literally you fall down an unending rabbit-hole of questions that have no answers.

Holy crap that's a huge term. Somehow hadn't seen that one yet but it applies to so much.
