NFL 2019: Week 5

That's some Grade A Brownsing right there.

49ers good at everything but snaps. Damn.

This is the loudest Levi's been since that Rolling Stones concert.

I read an article this year that Mayfield was the type of QB that fired up his team to play for him.

There wasn't anything in the article about firing up defenses to beat the snot out of him.

If anyone was wondering why the Niners have held onto long snapper Kyle Nelson despite his 6 game suspension, now they know. Counting the weeks until he returns.

This seems longer than 5 seconds.

I know it's just Cleveland and Mayfield is a f*cking joke. But this is how you're supposed to beat Cleveland. Fun night.

I was about to say the true tests will be at the Rams and at Seattle, but we're getting the former next week and the latter in Week 17.

Can't lose a 28-3 game right?

They should bench Baker and put in...

... *checks depth chart* ...

... AAF superstar Garrett Gilbert!

I hereby declare Legion and the 49ers superior to my sh*tty football team and fandom. I’m going to bed.

No more field goal attempts.

At least at Levi's, the damn carts work.

They put in Gilbert!

BAKER MAYFIELD JUST RYAN FITZPATRICK WIT A BIG 12 DEGREE

How do we know Jay Gruden didn't take off weeks ago and it was Frank Caliendo they just fired?

Guess they wouldn't have had to leak the drunk videos if Jay Gruden had quite weeks ago.

Caliendo would probably have started Haskins by now.

I don't think there's anything personal involved. As a quarterback, I think you have one job and that's to win a football game. And if you don't do that, your time's probably limited."

It might be time to find the Browns QB jersey (you know the one) and add Mayfield's name to it. That's a face of a man who has seen the future, and the future is 4-12.

Their next four: Seahawks, Patriots, Broncos, Bills. Yeeesh.

Do you think the Giants would take Olivier Vernon back for Kevin Zeitler?

The Vernon for Zeitler trade is looking amazing for the Giants. They have not one, but two edge rushers who currently have more sacks and higher pressure rates than Vernon, including their 3rd round pick Oshane Ximines. (The other one, Markus Golden, seems to be rejuvenated after having been a 13 sack guy in Arizona in 2016, then only having 3 sacks combined the following two years. Golden has 6 sacks already this year).

Meanwhile, Zeitler has been as advertised, currently graded the 16th best guard (10th best right guard) on PFF.

That was a great trade by Gettleman.

As for the Browns, I saw someone on Twitter saying that they should be banging down the door in Washington to trade for Trent Williams. Of course, trading for Williams would require Bruce Allen to have to pull his head out of his ass first, so odds aren't great there.

According to Joe Staley, Kyle Shanahan knew that the Garoppolo-to-Kittle TD pass play was going to be a touchdown as the ball was snapped, and just walked away while the play was happening:

“That was actually pretty awesome,” Staley began. “I didn’t even know Kyle was next to me. I was right in front of him. And immediately when the ball was snapped, all I heard behind me was, ‘Touchdown!’

“I looked and Kyle is walking away and the play is still going on. He’s just walking away, I look at him and look at him, and it’s a touchdown. I’m all, ‘That’s so badass.’

I'd give a first, a third, and one of my less necessary internal organs for Williams right now.

Apparently Baker Mayfield snubbed the 49ers at the coin toss before the game, refusing to shake hands with the Niners captains. According to Richard Sherman, this kinda pissed off the Niners defense.

EDIT: Though Sherman's account of events now seems to be in dispute.

Don't hold your breath: apparently Bruce Allen recently told Williams that they won't even try to trade him until the offseason. Sounds to me like another Bruce Allen tactic, thinking that he'll get Williams to come back by taking a trade deadline move off the table. Williams continues to tell anyone that asks that he won't play for Washington ever again.

Amateur hour.

Even if it's not true I could see Sherman making up this story to get the D fired up because Mayfield is very likeable... To beat up on.

Call me sucker who bought into some of the Browns hype. I completely back peddled once I saw and learned more about one Freddie Kitchens.

I still think the Browns can be good. They're having major issues with discipline and Kitchens being in over his head. Once he gives up playcalling and focuses more on coaching and discipline they may transform into a team that plays up to their talent level.

But when that happens the season will likely already be sunk.

Gawd, I hope they're on All or Nothing this year, but I doubt it based on how much they all hated Hard Knocks.

As an aside though, WTF is up with calling this sh*t saying it's "in dispute"? There's video of Baker shaking their hands. I'm so confused.

Sherman says Baker didn't shake his hand. Baker clearly shakes some hands, not clear from video if Sherm did get a handshake or not. Sherm's follow-up tweet seems to be deleted.

EDIT: Danny Kanell (not a name I expected to type today) has a video with a good angle, sure doesn't look good for Sherm: https://mobile.twitter.com/dannykane...

Maybe Baker just has an unacceptable white guy handshake?

Weak fumbling hands maybe? The hand shake was so poor it didn't count.
