Borderlands 3 Loot-All

There have been too many times where I sold a great weapon for a similar weapon with a 20% damage boost only to realize the handling on the new weapon makes my preferred burst mode unwieldy. (and unfun)

I tend to test out weapons for a combat scenario to see if I'm enjoying it more than what it's replacing. I tend to shy away from certain manufacturers unless the stats absolutely wow me. Definitely have branched out and tried different weapons or kept multiple versions of the same weapon class in my inventory.

The level scaling of regions is really weird. All my quests were level 32-35 and then I get sent to a level 26 area. Complete the story missions and now I'm back at a level 36 area. Definitely taking the skip side-quest advice now. The game is at its best when I'm actually getting EXP from enemies and need to switch weapons.

I am down for just about anyone but Maliwan. Atlas has been pretty meh as well, but Jacobs and COV have both been mainstays for me. Currently running with a COV machine pistol that fires two rounds per shot and does decent electrical damage, an epic Jacobs pistol that might as well be a shotgun (does like whateverx5 damage and only cost one bullet) that has a bayonet, an epic Jabobs shotgun with 6 shots super fast reload and also has a bayonet (as a Brawler Amara anything that gives me more Melee is a welcome addition), and a Dahl SMG that has like a 10 rounds/sec fire rate with a semi-auto secondary mode and scope that makes it almost a sniper rifle.

Three of my favourite weapons have been Maliwan legendaries. Cloud Kill is an SMG that leaves a long lasting AOE corrosive cloud. Hellshock is a pistol that does incendiary and shock and also bounces. Hellshock is extremely powerful and has a high rate of fire so despite its charge-up time, I'm able to melt through multiple enemies in a single clip. Mind-Killer is a dub-step inspired Maliwan shotgun that actually has no charge-up time and no elemental effect. It's basically just a powerful shotgun.

Currently using Hellshock, Mindkiller as well as high damage, high capacity, COV assault rifle, high damage Jacobs sniper rifle, Dahl assault rifle with cryo, and a high ammo capacity Hyperion SMG. I tend to switch out the pistol, SMG, and sniper rifle depending on the situation. Same with the two assault rifles. This could all change at any time tonight as I swap weapons and try out new ones very regularly.

I kept one legendary for a while that was fun to use that appeared to fire cold pellets but also left sticky incendiary charges that would explode after a time. It was fun to whittle down the shields of a badass only to have the sticky charges explode and take 1/2-3/4 of the hp bar when they were set off.

Because most Maliwans have high elemental dmg they're great for Amara. With some exceptions they're my goto weapons for general clearing.

There are 2 types of Maliwan:
The charge up fires a single shot
The charge up happens before automatic fire

The former is 100% not my style. The latter is the bees knees. The former I find particularly frustrating with burst fire sniper rifles. The pull is so great that you rarely hit with more than one shot anyway...

I’ve been having a blast grinding bosses on Mayhem 3 during the event with increased Legendary drop rates. So far I’ve found the Doom shot gun and about 16 other really fun epics and légendaires that have changed the way I play.

Fellow looters, is there anyway to mark an item as junk as you pick it up? That simple feature could save a few steps.

Would be nice if you could set defaults like "mark all green or lower as junk" or "all items under x score" (even as bad a metric as the score is at times)... but no. You have to go to your inventory and mark each item as junk after picking them up.

On Xbox you can click the right thumb stick to either trash can it or fave it. Only ever done it in the inventory and not sure if you can do it while looking at it on the ground.

Doesn’t work on the ground, sadly. There shouldn’t even be an inventory limit or a overly involve method to sort it.

OMG
firesale long musket ++ is AWESOME!!!!!
It is a flame thrower that on reload becomes one of the walking guns. So it is a walking flame thrower.
It chews up ammo more than your typical SMG but fire a few shots, reload and let the walking gun do all the work for a couple of bullets!

If you reload/toss a not-yet-empty Tediore gun, I'm pretty sure the un-fired ammo goes with it. It also makes the thrown gun be more effective, so it's not a total waste, but reloading early doesn't seem to save ammo.

Finally hit my first 50 with fl4k. Some of those proving grounds are rough. The first one I unlocked bugged out and was much more difficult than the others. The other ones, I died a couple of times but then beat the boss.

Dunno if I want to keep doing them and I have no interest in TVHM. So I guess it alts or move on

Graveward is a long, boring fight. Not incredibly difficult at level 30/31 with Moze and lots of shield skills and homing missiles...just really annoying.

I actually got caught once by the slant mechanic.
It is definitely too long.

Well, my wife and I finished the story and we turned on Mayhem I and cleaned up the last few side quests. It's a little unclear what the game expects us to do next, let alone if we want to bother. We had fun playing through the base game though.

It would be pretty darn epic if it was only about half as long.

I mean, I can see the series of design decisions that would make the fight work like it does. But no amount of me explaining my theories will make the fight less of a drag.

I got caught right away but figured it out after that. The advantage of the FL4K crit build is you can shred bosses very quickly and don't have to engage with their mechanics too much.

fang, I see what you mean by the back end of the story going on a little long. I'm happy with the length but the pacing and decision to return to Pandora before the last place is really odd. I'm skipping every sidequest and most of the challenges unless I come across them. I still reached level 41 with ease and expect another couple of levels before the end game.

Get to 50 and start the loot search and farm bosses. You can do the TVHM which is the story again but at a harder difficulty. You can do the Circle of Slaughter or Proving grounds.

You can also start a new toon.

Personally i like doing the CoS because if you keep the dying to a minimum you make 2-4 million credits and leveling multiple times a run. You also get random world uniques for your level which makes moving through the story again that much easier.

At level 30 on my Moze run i got a Flakker... I immediately swapped over to the blast/grenade build and just blitzed to the end super easy.

I REALLY wish they'd make it so you didn't have to rerun the story with alts or at a minimum unlock the ability to cancel cut scenes.

We tried the circle once, and determined that it was a no-go because if one of us dies then they get put in time out for too long. Part of that is I think we don't have a particularly good team for that. She's playing FL4K and will not abandon Mr. Chew. I'm playing a close-combat Amara, whose suvivability comes from running away super fast and hiding while my regen picks me back up. When I fall back to heal, she can get overwhelmed. If I run into the thick of things to pick her back up, I can get overwhelmed. Most of the time that isn't a problem, but in the Circle of Slaughter you get put in time-out when you die. Not playing for several minutes is a deal-breaker.

That only happens with the one against humans. The one against the creatures you can reload/restart as often as you want. Also if you're doing it as just 2 you're handicapping yourself unless you have the gear to make up the difference.

Wait, those are always tuned for 4 players? No wonder everything felt like a slog. Also I was wondering why the end bosses took more hits than I had ammo.

Despite trying many times I never did get a Conference Call in BL2, but one popped out of a toilet for me yesterday on Eden 6. Only leveled in the late 20s and not as good as an epic shotgun I have, but it is going on the wall in my bunk.

Granted, the 5th round is a bear regardless! I've soloed (people drop out) up to the 2nd wave of the 5th round solo before because i had some world drop uniques that helped out a lot, but those were very close and you only have so much ammo... That last wave i went through all my ammo of the guns that could do anything and then got swarmed. Even with 4 people I've seen that last wave take forever and people give up in disgust before completing it.

Lol, my best on Circle of Slaughter is wave 3 or 4 of round 2
Good to know it is for 4 people, I was wondering whether there is some hidden nook I could exploit or whether I'm just that much of a newb.

I've been really enjoying the 1-2 hours I have played on my Zane after dropping him at level 11. One downer about alts is once you have a 50 and all its craziness with weapons, skills, mods and grenades, lower level characters totally look like they are standing still. I mean, on my 50 fl4k I have a huge shield (like 10k) that is 100% resistant to shock. So my shields don't really go down too much aside from some really heavy hitting badasses

On Mayhem 1 I was able to solo to the last wave without too much trouble. Close Combat spec Amara is a gorram cockroach if you know what you're doing. With a beefy shield and some points in extra health most of the big haymakers only leave me mostly dead. Being mostly dead gives me crazy life regeneration and the run speed of a Doom marine on methamphetamine. Combine that with a free Second Wind every 2 mintues and I can live through most things if I don't let myself get too surrounded.

They waste a ton of ammo but SMG MIRV weapons are insane. I killed level 13 Truant in seconds with only using about 3/4 of my smg ammo. Of note is that he downed me when he had 10% left and I threw a 5x mirv and killed him to get my second wind
The damage isn't calculated anywhere so I wonder if since it will use a full clip, that the damage is a full clip's worth of damage? The impact damage from the thrown weapon is significant but then it spawns 5 mirvs that combined do around the same amount.
The best part is that keeping one of these weapons around is almost a guaranteed 1-2 second second wind. The game frequently throws packs of heavies and badasses at you but the mirv makes mincemeat out of them in no more than 2-3 well placed volleys.

SMGs or pistol?

SMG because I haven't found a pistol with more than 3x mirv. The smg I carry now is 5x mirv. I admit that finding a pistol mirv with a small clip might be ideal.

Week 2 of their celebration is a rare spawn hunt. They need to up the spawn rates on these a bit more. I farmed Tarantella in total for over 3 hours on Mayhem 3 before finally getting a Hive to drop. I can't imagine what it would've taken without their 'boost'
