Ghost Recon: Breakpoint - Catch All

To be honest, unless they have a change of management, I don't see Ubisoft going down the route of manipulating the game in order to encourage people to buy boosters or items. It's just that I'm old and have a knee jerk reaction to this stuff.

Open beta just started...

Release date is 10/4

Opting out of this beta since I can't wait for release next week! Really hoping the multiplayer catches on this time around.

Hey all, n00b here.

How "tactical" is this game as compared to Wildlands? About the same, or is it a bit more "sim" in that regard?

Seem pretty much the same from what i played in the first beta. Biggest change I noticed is the addition of gear scores similar to The Division (though you dont need to buy into that if you like one weapon as can just keep upgrading that as you go along

It's interesting what you say about Division. I'd noticed that they seemed to do a thing where things they added/improved in Wildlands got inherited by Division 2, so it's very interesting that it seems to be working the other way, too.

Did the graphics improved compared to Closed beta?

Not really - still really low res and "muddy" in some places and decent in others. Kind of weird. Good gameplay but the graphics compared to the original dont seem as crisp to me.

My impression is that they did improve quite a bit. Which was a relief because I thought they were particularly bad in the earlier version. I'm on PS4 so perhaps the difference was more noticeable on that system.

It's back in all it's ray tracing glory. Looks good on PC.

I feel like I bought my 1070 at just the wrong time last spring.

Wait, it has ray tracing? Did not see that option.

Also, I played open beta of Wildlands 2 years ago and had a blast. I never actually got the game because of Horizon Zero Dawn and the Switch coming out in the same month.

How is the solo game for this? I am a mainly solo player. Is it similar to Division 2 when you can group up and don't have to voice chat?

I'd say it can be played solo all the way on my experience with the first beta, and with the previous game. You can also group up with strangers in the central lobby

Definitely getting more disconnections with the open beta rather than the closed when I didnt have one - is it just me?

Havent had that issue

So - Has anyone figured out if you let your Uplay plus sub continue, if you get the best edition of the game? Thats usually what I get for myself for a game I know I want, but am thinking if just subbing a few months of uplay instead if that nets me the same game.

So close to launch i'm not doing the game play through but i did spend a couple hours into the pvp which was opened up this time around. Much improved over Wildlands and the maps are crazy good!

Lot of the OP talents are actually disabled in pvp.
The guns can't (at least at early levels) can't have silencers on them.

They seemed to have learned their lessons from Wildlands pvp, EXCEPT for having only a 2 round win condition for a match. Which is stupid and was fixed before to like 4 or 5. It also has the result of half your team leaving if you lose the first round...

This is going to be a wait and see game for me. I always liked Ghost Recon franchise but this one seems to be a mishmash of ideas that don't seem to work well together. Players hub in the game? No squad? Gear score? I'll see what you guys think about it once it's out.

I don't get everyone's concern about a player hub...

also reminder for those that preordered you can start your preload...

Great news about the pvp and maps! Hopefully they tweak the amount of rounds because of the point you raised ranalin about people leaving after first loss.

The player Hub has no bearing on the gameplay from what I saw. If you want to solo you solo similar to Wildlands, but if you want to group it should be easier to have a social hub to find groups. Works like The Division Base of Ops mostly. I am looking forward to playing this soon.

This is not included in Uplay Plus right?

Oh, it's not gameplay related, for me at least. The hub felt really immersion-breaking in a ghost recon game but, as far as I can tell, it doesn't affect the rest of the game. It's just weird to have it there and I don't see any value in having it.

Thanks BadKen. That's actually not a bad deal just to check the game out with all the big releases around.

I'm not sure with this one whether to wait until they add in the AI team member that were in the first. They were irritating but did make it feel less vanilla solo hero trope

Uninstall the beta first. Buy it don't buy it, to each their own. I played the beta and it solidified my decision to preorder. If anything it feels like The Division minus the bullet sponge enemies.

I grabbed the ultimate edition after playing the open beta for a couple of days. Agree with SpyNavy. Feels like the Division without the bullet sponge. A headshot is always a headshot and that's a good thing.

Feel like I need to get a 2080 though. I have a 1070 but I have an ultrawide monitor so I game at 3440 x 1440. Get 30-40 fps on high settings but i want more. Hopefully they can optimise this a bit better too.

Ive got a couple of stock 1080s and Im pushing all maxed settings with no problems; 3440x1440.

Also for whatever reason - the little question marks and exploration for that new piece of gear scattered all over the map really scratches some itch. Even if you arent on a mission - those little question marks led me to some really cool locations and interesting tactical engagements (sniper until I cant snipe no more then silenced assault rifle).

Couple of tips for avoiding helos and drones:

Spoiler:

- You can hide from helos by going prone and then camouflaging (space on PC).
- You can not hide from those Azrael f*ckers that way, but you can get in an ENEMY vehicle (non-motorcycle) and they will leave you be. Dont drive just sit and it will overfly you; have to do it before it locks on you.
- When you see that Azrael f*cker on the map you can either TRY and run perpendicular to its approach as fast as you can or best to get in a vehicle and do the same thing. In a vehicle your options are expanded as you can just outrun it and it will eventually leave you alone - kind of the Grand Theft Auto run until you are outside the red circle.
