Name that GAME Thread

I've definitely played it. Was that one of the first games that had a 3d type map? I remember having to buy my first memory card for that game. Dang! I can't remember the name!

It was something like Breath of Fire. But not that....

Actually, you are correct - but which one?

I had to look it up. I never would have guessed which one.

Also....I think I was originally thinking of Beyond the Beyond and not Breath of Fire. But Breath of Fire was awesome.

Yeah, the first 3D map thing didn't ring a bell with me, but it's been a long time. We'll call it close enough - it was Breath of Fire III.

Your turn!

Here we go.

Betrayal at Antara?

Betrayal at Krondor?

Roadkill Wig Simulator?

Betrayal at Costuming?

Betrayal of Krondor is correct! One of my favorite early computer RPGs. Deftly is up.

Sweet! I never win!

I almost didn't recognize it in color, I'd only played it on the black/green Apple //e monitor. There've been a few spiritual successors, but so far nothing's captured the elation of winning enough in the arena to outfit your car and hit the open road.

Yep! It's Autoduel! I played it on the Apple IIe as well. bighoppa is up.

I played the $#!%#$ out of that game on my C64 and recognized it instantly.

Any game which features Scranton, Harrisburg, Syracuse, and Watertown must be awesome.

Sorry, gonna have to let this go to Freeplay.

Here's a weird one I'd never played or even heard of, but recently became aware of due to the rather good soundtrack.

Looks like Boom Blox maybe?

Steven Spielberg's Boom Blox!

Though it's arguable just how involved Spielberg actually was in its creation.

Edit: benignhausered!

Yep, that's the one. The music (by Mark Mothersbaugh, of Devo etc) is worth a listen. The game looked pretty forgettable, apart from the "...the Steven Spielberg??" angle.

It's actually a fairly fun use of the Wiimote. I last played it about 18 months ago with the aim of finishing it (which obviously didn't happen as there are just tons of levels).

benign1, you're up!

So weird, I could have sworn I saw AUs_TBirD's answer pop up above mine. Sorry for poofing!

Borderline but I'm calling time. Google image search says "Nightmare Creatures" for PS1 or PC. New one on me.

Get this ball rolling again!

Hmm... Is that Archon? It looks familiar.

I don't remember Archon having walls like that, but the rest looks correct. Maybe it's the sequel? Looks like the c64 version if it is Archon I/II.

Definitely Archon 2: Adept. Giant (Order) versus Water Elemental (Chaos) on Earth terrain (which is probably why the water elemental's health is so low).

Archon 2: Adept is indeed correct.

Ahhh, I never played any of the later iterations of the series, but the basic premise seems like it was intact (the life bars, the EA style pixel graphic tiles, etc).

Archon: The game I never understood on C64 because I only had a pirated copy.
