Name that GAME Thread

I'll assume for the sake of moving this thread along that I was correct.

Hey it's Shakedown Hawaii, a/k/a Retro City Rampage 2. (I Googled it after my initial guess and recused myself, but if you're just going to post it... )

Retro City Rampage didn't really do anything for me, but this looks neat; I might check it out when it releases on Steam.

It's more of the same, but still a good fun lil while, like the original. The original didn't have staying power for me, but I enjoyed what I did play.

That would be 999, I believe. Either that, or Virtue's Last Reward, but officially, I'm going with 999.

Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors is correct! Such a fantastic game (the DS version anyway; I don't know what they've done with the remake). You're up!

An oldie I just discovered. Surprisingly deep for its time.

Vertical SHMUP, looks NES-era? I only know a couple that might fit the bill, and I'm pretty sure none of them are this.

Not Life Force is it?

Is that Zanac? That first level music is playing in my head now.

(Ask your doctor about Zanac)

It certainly is! Good job.

I just recently played it for the first time and was surprised by a) how fast it is, and b) how deep the power-up system turned out to be.

Since BuzzW hasn't picked up the ball, free play to the first person who does.

OK!

Two guesses:
Runaway: A Road Adventure
or
The Adventures of Willy Beamish

Leisure Suite Larry 7: Love For Sail.

Bing! Got it. It was the only LL game I’ve ever played. You ever play it?

Oh, I played all the Larry games in my misbegotten youth. The original adventure game ones, anyway. You probably played the best one, as far as it goes.

Hmm, is that Broken Sword, or its sequel?

Gabriel Knight 3, I think. Free play if I'm right.

Broken Sword 2: The Smoking Mirror?

Definitely not Gabriel Knight 3. They went primitive 3D for that one and it’s aged as poorly as the FMV 2nd one.

It's Broken Sword 2.

I'd dispute that. The 3d in Gabriel Knight 3 has aged much, much worse than the FMV nonsense in 2.

I never played 3, so I'll defer to your knowledge on that one. But the thought that it could be worse than the hammy acting over an obvious green-screened-in background causes me to shudder.

I spoke with the judges and they decided that I won the last round.

Ninja Proctologist?

Not... as such.

OG Street Fighter.

The one and same.

I played it in an arcade a while back, the model where there's only two buttons and you do strong/middle/weak attacks depending on how hard you bash the button. It was... not fun.

And... Go!

It looks so familiar. I even remember seeing pictures of it in some gaming magazine.
But still no idea of the name..

First hint: Late 90s RPG for the PS1

I've definitely played it. Was that one of the first games that had a 3d type map? I remember having to buy my first memory card for that game. Dang! I can't remember the name!

It was something like Breath of Fire. But not that....
