New TV Season 2018-19

Watching les miserables the tv series. Only three episodes in but it is pretty good. Might cause some tears. Really liked the movie, haven't seen the play.

All done and loved it. Lots of freckles.

Is there a new thread for the upcoming season yet?

Made one? We'll see if I'm flamed for inadequte Google-fu.

I usually make on, but hadn’t yet. Thanks for getting it!

Killjoys ended well. I'll miss it.

I don't know where to put this, because I don't know of any specific "TV that came out at some point in the past but isn't on Netflix" thread, but I have a burning need to talk about MTV's Catfish. I'd never seen it before, and there are some season 4 episodes on ABC iView right now.

Wow, this show blew my mind that it exists. If you've never seen it, the two hosts talk to someone that's wrote in saying "I've been in a relationship with this person online for X (months/years), I've come to the point where I am not sure they are who they say they are, please help". And then there's the stuff that happens next. Some of which is stuff you expect, and sometimes things take really wild turns. If I had a mild criticism, it would be that they go over basic details over and over, there's too much recap (I'm watching with no commercial breaks so this stands out more).

Sometimes you can tell the person that they help, has problems that someone with basic "internet skills" wouldn't have in this day and age. For the rapper, it was like, good for him that he hasn't spent as much time hunched in front of a computer as my dumb self, that he knows what people can do and are wont to be like on The Internet. Some of the others, maybe aren't blessed with the critical thinking skills to make the greatest decisions/observations (but have other good qualities). Just got done with the first episode I've seen where the initial person was the one that was an absolute unrepentant piece of s***.

I like that the hosts seem genuine and want to encourage people to be happy, better people. I have to imagine that behind the scenes, they are offering the participants a lot of counselling.

Will put the popcorn in the microwave for the next episode. Popcorn of emotional support. Recommended television, probably with parental guidance only for younger viewers.

P.S. I think I read as the headline of a news article that the show has completely ended now, but I didn't read it because spoilers.

My only awareness of the Catfish TV show (though I saw the documentary back in the day) came through previously.tv (apparently now-defunct, which I suppose explains why I realize I haven't seen any of their stuff in ages and is also probably explained by the fact that I couldn't remember what the site was called and had to do a lot of googling just to remember). Anyway, they wrote very amusing recaps of the Catfish TV episodes and it sounded like something I would find frustrating to watch but was extremely fun to read about. I'm not sure if previously.tv has archives up anywhere (it points to another TV site now) but you might enjoy finding those posts if you can.

Watched Nancy Drew last night. Feels like Riverdale-lite to me. Came off as a standard angsty young people CW series. I'll be waiting for the entire season to be available via streaming. It might turn out to be a good show, I just don't want to invest waiting for the next weekly installment of a season long mystery (assuming they take the entire season to resolve the current story).

Just re-read Watchman in anticipation of HBO's sequel series coming out this Sunday and one of the pull quote on the back of my 10+ year old TPB comes from...series creator Damon Lindelof.

Yeah, the influence of Watchmen on the structure of Lost was always pretty apparent. I'm certainly interested to see what Lindelof does with it.
