NFL 2019: Week 3

Just by the title in the link alone, Rudolph will play well in rural Western PA.

Perfect upgrade from Big Ben!!

I couldn't read the link. I'm on Android and the site tries to make me install an untrusted APK for a "browser update" (guaranteed to be malware), so pretty much screw that site. Even made it past Pi-hole ad blocking.

Yeah, when I go there it tries to tell me firefox is out of date and tries to get me to install a new version.

Not that I want the Patriots to have more money, I'd just like that repugnant dickwad to have less money.

You might get your wish more than I realized. According to Field Yates, the Patriots have not actually paid out the first half of the signing bonus either. That payment was to be due this upcoming Monday, and I'm certain the Patriots won't be writing that check.

As a rule, signing bonus is guaranteed at signing. The payment schedule is purely a logistical question, not a question of when the bonus is "earned". Absent any other language, the Patriots owed AB $9 million at the time of his signing.

I assume the team included additional language for bonus recovery. Whatever that language is, it would seem that AB isn't currently in violation of it. He's not yet been subject to any league discipline, nor did the Patriots suspend him. That league discipline may be on its way, but by my reading of the rules, the Patriots owe AB $5 million on Monday that they probably aren't going to pay.

The rationale, most likely, is that in the event that a grievance is filed, the expectation is probably that league discipline of AB will already be in effect, triggering whatever bonus recouping clause the team likely has in place, rendering the grievance moot. But this is still a team not paying a player what he's scheduled to receive, so I think there's a good chance the player's union is going to have something to say on this topic.

A union? Like that's going to stop Bobby Two Strokes from telling his toady the commish to put AB on the exempt list.

The union won't care about the exempt list, but going on the exempt list does not forefit pay already earned. That's where a player goes *during* an investigation.

For the Pats to trigger the presumed bonus recoup, it would probably not be until after that investigation is completed. Which probably won't be by Monday.

Ravens reportedly offered the Jags a 1st, a 2nd, and Hayden Hurst for Ramsey, and were turned down.

PFT has picked up on this AB bonus withholding idea, and they have some more details. They seem to generally agree with my reading of the situation. I think we'll see the payment withheld, and a grievance filed in the days that follow.

That's nuts. Not surprised Hurst is on the block seeing as they paid what's his name and Mark Andrews is destroying defenses.

The way the Ravens are playing, I wouldn't be in a hurry to take their draft picks either. Lamar keeps playing the way he has and those will end up some late-ass picks.

He's free, Grandma! He's free!

I’m looking forward to AB tearing up the XFL.

If he doesn't like owners taking the money he thinks he's entitled to, just wait until he starts losing those lawsuits.

Edit:

Strange he seems to imply that his guarantees from his Raiders contract should be owed him as well. Despite....well everything.

Speaking of the Ravens, and assuming the coverage maps are correct, I'm in the 20 percent or so of the country who doesn't get KC-BAL today at 1. Boo.

And the late game? (Besides Carolina?) It's PIT-SF. That's a great game ... if Terry Bradshaw and Joe Montana were still playing.

At least the Sunday night game looks interesting. Can't wait for Aaron Donald to introduce himself to Baker Mayfield.

Same here. Stupid state. Ugh.

And the SF game is on CBS too, seems odd. If we are getting CBS doubleheader we should have KC-Bal right now. The problem is why in the hell are they showing Falcons-Colts early game? With Luck gone, who gives a sh*t?

Chiefs D is all over the Ravens receivers. Pretty good showing so far.

Looks like a great opening TD drive by the Ravens to me.

Darn, Ravens broke the Chiefs 1st quarter scoring streak at 22 games.

I like the Ravens being aggressive but giving Mahomes the ball at midfield isn't a terribly good idea.

Announcers calling out the questionable hold call that killed Ravens drive.

Aghalor did better last year, but he seems to have become butter fingers again. More injuries as well.

I guess the Eagles winning the Super Bowl irritated some cosmic deity counting on a Patriots streak going uninterrupted.

Why do the Packers look like they're wearing practice uniforms?

I had to go let a friend's dog out. Think I may not turn the game on again.

Too many BS holding this season. Can't wait for it to go away.

Yeah even as someone unfamiliar with the rules changes this seems the most inconcistent the officiating has been since I started watching

AGHALOR REMEMBERED HOW TO CATCH!

Called that. Except he didn't even wait for Monday to pass.

I mean the Falcons suck so much they can't beat Brissett. Who wants to watch them?

That was incredibly depressing.

Similar to last year, Baltimore defense needed a stop and couldn't get it.

Looks like Harbaugh going for all those 2PT conversions wasn't smart either.

Ah well. Good game.

Ugh bobbled screen pass becomes a gift INT. That won't help Jimmy's INT stats.

If Niners receivers could stop using their hands to bounce passes up to Steelers defenders, that'd be great. Another Garoppolo INT that hit his receiver's hands.
