NFL 2019: Week 2

Wentz has to be really badly hurt.

He should've gone to Nepal with Certis.

I'll take both, Garion!

That was a very disappointing game filled with injury.

Fitzpatrick did throw two touchdown passes.

That would be a genuinely impressive accomplishment for a team that lost 43-0.

Edit: OH WAIT PICK SIXES NEVER MIND

The second one was a real work of art too. Definitely catch that one if you can.

Kalen Ballage couldn't.

Wentz and Brees injuries (if they turn out to be serious) might do some weird things to the NFC.

On the flip side, if Brees' thumb is truly screwed and he misses 6 weeks or so, he won't be all noodle-armed at the end of the season like he was last year. Boo.

In the Vikings/Packers game there was a standard booth scoring review for a Vikings TD that was overturned when they decided the Vikings had offensive pass interference. Is that just for that particular flag or do the officials now go through the entire play for any potential penalty against the offense in addition to making sure the catch was completed, knee wasnt down before crossing goal line, etc?

Seems like a rule destined to award the Patriots another Super Bowl and then getting removed for next season.

Interference is reviewable now. Ravens threw a flag specifically for it yesterday although it wasn't overturned.

Update: Brees to have surgery and miss six weeks. It's TEDDY TIME in New Orleans. All you Bridgewater stans will be tested!

I'm here for it. Teddy and Lamar... FROM LOUISVILLE!

Steelers’ QB Ben Roethlisberger is out for the season with an elbow injury.

Gardner Minshew completed 23 of 33 passes yesterday.

In terms of completion percentage, that comes out to 69.696969 (endlessly repeating) percent.

Minshew: I love it when a plan comes together.

Gronk unretires and signs with the Jaguars.

That explains it why they ran it when they went for two!

The reactions of the commentators and sports fans to Vinatieri's decline in performance is pretty disgraceful, to be honest. The guy is a HOF legend whose age has finally caught up with him and in dramatic fashion, it seems; however, you don't have to laugh at the guy or disrespect him. How many games have been saved by his clutch plays in the past? Yet people are treating him like crap for a couple games.

I just don't get it. I don't get this whole attitude towards teams and their players from the fans that seems to completely lack any humanity or any real team loyalty. The guy should be benched and he should retire, but do it with respect for a guy whose accomplishments could be written of on every surface of a stadium.

It's the same way Chicago fans treated that kicker that missed the second FG attempt in that Super Bowl contention game (he got the first one) last year when they just totally crapped all over him. Sports really just bring out this viciousness in people that I find abhorrent.

When I heard that commentator start to snicker at Vinatieri, I just wanted to tell the guy "Who the hell are you? You couldn't even hold this guy's jock strap."

no I get that but AFAIK it wasnt a flag that was thrown it was during the standard booth review on a scoring play.

Right, just saying it is reviewable now when it wasn't at all before. So if they're reviewing everything on scoring plays like they're supposed to, then yes I can see it being applied.

How much of a repugnant dickwad do you have to be to make Ben Roethlesberger seem like the better guy after all this?

I hope everyone enjoys watching the Browns tonight!

Boogteh - I agree 100%.

To me, the Browns are still a .500 caliber team, and week 1 was what a .500 team that buys into their own hype looks like.

But in the end, I don't think they're going to revert to a 2-14 team or anything. They'll probably handle a crippled Jets team fairly easily tonight.

That said, if the Browns actually are in the early stages of a true Brownsian meltdown, then I can't wait for this game. It could be the fun kind of abject incompetence, as opposed to the "Titans/Jags Thursday Night Football" boring kind (speaking of which, coming up this Thursday...)

Just as long as Landry gets my fantasy points for me. I taunted Kush too early, and now I can't cash that check.

Now Jalen Ramsey wants out of Jacksonville.

Step right up with your offerings of picks galore! One elite pain-in-the-ass available, just bring lots of draft picks!

Psha, he's been talking more than playing lately. I doubt he brings in much.

And, besides, even if they get a good player on offense he'll be injured a bunch, like the rest of em.

The Chiefs will take all of his headaches in a heartbeat. They are still trying to get Arizona to give up Patrick Peterson.

You should see the Jags fans on Reddit. They're convinced Jalen Ramsey is the franchise and everyone else can just hang. Of course, most of them were convinced Bortles became a great QB in year 4.

It's actually kind of crazy just how much more grounded in reality the 49ers fanbase was during even the Harbaugh fallout and the Tomsula and Kelly years than the Jags fans are basically every year. I've spent 20 years at various Jaguar fan discussion areas, and it so often feels like being in Idiocracy.

Wonder if this has anything to do with the argument he got into with Marrone after Marrone failed to challenge the questionable Hopkins catch. Looked like they both got pretty heated afterward.
