Borderlands 3 Loot-All

Will try to pretend you didn't just equate Oscar Wilde to Chik fil a...

Here is my shield/clone zane build.
He has a lot of great stuff from kill skills to ammo and grenade regen to the frozen thing and cryo novas...
I even like that there is a nice synergy with +cooldown rate depending on shields matched with the clone skill that adds to my shields when the clone is damaged.

Game is apparently out on console in a few regions with the day one patch and performance is apparently not good. The menus for some reason really laggy.

Pretty disappointing to hear, I so rarely pre-order and of course this time I bought the version with the seasons pass.

Anyone got it on base PS4 by any chance? Is it unplayable?

Edit---im just reading all this from Reddit so it might be a bit overblown and not as bad as it reads.

I know alot of people can't stand monster hunter on base PS4 but to me it was totally fine so hopefully this is similar.

I don't have it on PS4 so I hope all goes well with your copy but I would take anything from Reddit with a grain of salt.

I made a deal with myself back in the day to separate art and artists. If I didn't watch an excellent film because one of the actors' political opinions, or indeed if I didn't eat Chick-fil-a because of whatever, I'd be doing my eyes and taste buds disservice! I mean, what if I didn't read "A Picture of Dorian Gray" just because Oscar Wilde was chaotic neutral at best? I'd be missing out.

I completely respect that people don't want to fund people that are problematic for them, but I've found myself much happier when I don't worry whence my media comes. I've removed angst from my life and I'm happier for it.

(Hey, maybe I'm just trying to justify my first pre-order in years. Who knows?)

I've been really struggling with this on Ion Fury.

Game itself is absolutely incredible, but its production team has issues.

Still not sure where I stand. I seem to go back & forth quite a bit over it.

Yeah I'm definitely taking it with a grain of salt coming from Reddit, I'm not super sensitive to frames on tv either way but I'm hoping it's atleast pretty playable. I'm pretty excited for this.

As to the whole seperation of art from artist without getting into a whole divergent tangent and derailing. I'll just say the nice thing about games is that they are often largely collaborative efforts, and despite what alot of he figure heads of company's would have us think they are rarely the vision of one person. So I can get on board with games and supporting the developers who are just looking to get paid for their work and time and divest myself from maybe not liking Randy Pitchford or other people at these company's.

The back and forth, I think, is a sign of both the complexities of the various specific artist issues and also our complexities as people.

I wanted to buy Ion Fury and planned to do so until all that ugliness. The response in that specific case disgusted me and it became a no-buy.

Now, take D&D. I love D&D. Lllloooovvveee it. I hate Mike f*cking Mearls. Can't stand him. If I were king of D&D I would have thrown him out on his ass. But I am not going to stop engaging with that material and system because of him or my displeasure with how he has been handled.

In BL3's case, I don't care about Pitchford. Is he a scumbag? Probably. But I am indifferent. I have no strong reverence for Gearbox or BL but I have friends who are playing this game and that's where I go.

Does it make sense? Objectively no. But I also don't need to rationalize how or why I have fun doing the things I do. I choose to tolerate the incongruities and engage at my comfort level.

The world is full of awful people in all walks of life. I try to impact my world around me in positive ways through actions. I try not to let myself get bent out of shape knowing sh*tbags like Mearls exist when I can't do anything about him.

1080p/30 on the base consoles should be pretty doable if it can do 4K/30 (this is 4x the pixels) or 1080p/60 (just 2x the pixels so easier than 4K/30) on the X/Pro consoles.

You are understanding it right!

I've got this on PC. Epic account: ksmooches, same on discord. Feel free to message me on discord if you want to play. I have a 3 month old, so I can't promise any consistency.

I bit sooner than expected. Downloading now

WHY DIDN'T YOU DOWNLOAD 2 DAYS AGO!?

cause when it realeases in 15 minutes that's when the excitement and GOTTA HAVE IT NOW! really hits....

Note: Don't do what I did. Futzed around in the settings, thought "Hey, DX12(beta), improved load times, that seems good!"

NOOOOOPPPPPEEEE. Game won't even launch out of the splash screens now.

Edit: deleted my saved config file and fixed it in case anyone else runs into this

Edit 2: For a game that really isn’t doing much special graphically, this thing is murdering my 1080. Can’t get a reliable 60FPS on high settings and some pretty horrendous slowdowns in new areas with brutal texture pop in. I’m as forgiving as it gets for graphics but this is killing me

Crap. I haven’t touched GOW5 yet. So why am I hitting buy in the Epic store right now??

Oh and I’m Docjoe on Epic btw.

Sorry to hear about the trouble and I appreciate your comments. I have a 1080 and i7. I may wait a bit to see if these issues are fixed. I’m sure many of us would appreciate your updates. Good luck!

I just put a few hours in on the PC and the game ran at a stable 85fps. I have a 1080ti and an i7 7700k. Haven't seen texture pop in but I am running at max render distance.

I'm on a 1050 and other than a few hang-ups it's ran very smoothly.

A little disappointed that the first enemies I've faced are bandits, skags, and varkids but there are so many different models for the bandits that I don't mind. Super early on and running on only a few hours sleep so I'll post more tomorrow.

Played a couple hours last night and it is definitely more Borderlands. Very smooth on my 2070 RTX.

I started as Amara, very early but her voice is kind of grating to me for some reason. May try another class to see if that is less of an issue.

A little thing but I like that you can grapple up when you jump, much easier to get on top of buildings.

Played for about 40 min this morning before work, not enough for alot of details but for people on a base PS4 here are quick impressions.

I started as Fl4k, the gun play is pretty smooth right off the start they seem to introduce a gun that lets you toggle modes this feels like it's going to open a ton of options for future guns. The skill trees seem pretty neat and the pets are really a unique thing to have running along side you. There is way more colour customization this time, emotes have been added, and a echo option as well that just seems to change the colour of your echo device.

As for actual performance, I have a 54" 4k tv but only a base PS4 so I'm not exactly taking advantage of the tech. My tv also doesn't support HDR. All that said the game seems to run pretty close to 30fps with a few drops, on Reddit there was a lot of complaints about menus being laggy and unresponsive but I can barely notice it seems fine and totally usuable. UI is really tiny, it's readable but the pause and option menu the text is even smaller then in game. Graphically it's a pretty pleasant looking game but I don't understand why it's not running as smooth as the handsome collection this doesn't seem to be doing that much more.

Gun play feels really good, much better then the older games, the sliding mechanic is a game changer for me.

Just a few side things I've heard or noticed:

-I play with subs on usually after turning them on they didn't work though, I paused the game went to the menu and after exiting it the turned back on.

-apparently split screen coop is only available on horizontal mode

-changing the fov does effect performance a bit which seems odd on console but isn't surprising.

-twitch streaming and photo mode are not live in the console versions yet

Anyways just spent quick impressions if anyone else was nervous about playing it on base PS4. Im not terribly sensitive to framerate or light input lag so you milage might vary, but it seems totally playable early on atleast.

Update on performance: Fiddled with some settings this morning, ran it Borderless Windowed and made sure everything in the background was turned off (i.e. no second screen stream running) and hit a consistent 55-70 FPS at 1440p and I've got an older CPU (i5-4770 I think?). Given other's reports seems like my initial issues might have been related to running in Fullscreen or having a second screen video running at the same time.

i don't like that they've given the Skags more realistic doggy whine noises when you kill them

I DO like that there are lady bandits and raiders now.

So here's a question, for PC is there going to be a Discord channel created for Borderlands or is the in game voice chat good enough?

I agree on both accounts. The Skags really bother me now.

I assume there will be one sooner or later.

Anyone have any more info about performance on PS4? I have a pro

Honestly, this is why I skipped Monster Hunter World when it made it's debut from handhelds to big screens.

It was gonna be my first MH title, but when I looked at footage and saw the fidelity of wounded monsters limping and running away I noped the hell out, never to return.

Even worse now that Fl4k has a pet skag option so you know they can be trained (or be taken over by an AI implant lol). Doesn't actually bother me but I see why some people would be turned off. Do you guys get the same feeling killing human characters in game? It's always made me wonder why animal violence turns people off so much more then human.

I guess I'm the same though I can watch a violent movie no problems, but show a needle on screen and I cringe.

Started briefly last night (had a concert, so could only get the first mission in really). PC, and started on Ultra with no real concerns. Boyfriend tried the beta of DirectX 12 and didn't have the same issues, but had screen tearing. Looks like that option is a skip for now.

Otherwise, really loving vaulting, movement, and how much heavier everything feels? May just be because I finished the Pre-Sequel, but landing, shooting, etc. feels like it has a bit more heft to it.

Also, thank you devs for finally just starting us off with our action skill at level 2. Haven't tried anything but Amara's Phase Grasp, but I may just be missing Maya.

aeazel on EGS.

It is stuff like this that is about 90% of why I am a console gamer.

I havent had a single issue on PC except for a gun freezing up in the menu. No framerate issues at 3440x1440, all maxed. My gameplay impressions is that it's Borderlands - nothing wrong with that. Shoot stuff, use skills, get loot and repeat.
