Gambling is not a vice, it is an expression of our humanness. We gamble. Some do it at the gaming table, some do not. You play, you win, you play, you lose. You play.
Let's talk about Sports Betting. It's a thing.
I read the other day that 15% of Americans said they will bet on NFL games this year. Twelve states and D.C. have legalized some form of sports betting since 2018. That number is going to grow. Not forgetting to mention the Off-Shore betting sites. The stigma surrounding it has gone away.
I like to bet the NFL, NBA & some NHL once in a while but chances are if people are playing it, you can bet on it legally now. Since I live in Nevada, going to a sportsbook is easy for me but what about you folks where it's just starting?
What are your thoughts on sports betting? Do you bet? Can you? What sports? How/where? Who do you follow or ignore? How's your handicapping?
This is a place to talk about anything and everything related to the world of betting on sports. Upset wins, bad beats, strategy. There is a LOT to talk about.

A couple of closing thoughts...
A gambler never makes the same mistake twice. It’s usually three or more times.
and most importantly,
I want people to understand, gambling is not a bad thing if you do it within the framework of what it’s meant to be, which is fun and entertaining.
Think I'm taking CHI (-3) tonight. Not sold on Trabisky, Nagy, or the Bears long term but opening at home against a division rival? I can see it. The Packers are not a good away team. Also looking at the under (46.5). Good defense in Chicago against a rusty Aaron Rodgers & a questionable OL.
Not as successful as I hoped. 10-3 with GB on top. Right on the under but wrong on the winner.
Take aways: trust your judgment & don't talk yourself out of your analysis.
It's Saturday and that means a full day of college football.
I've got:
Texas A&M (+17.5) vs Clemson
LSU (-5.5) vs Texas
N Carolina (+4.5) vs Miami (FL)
Cal (+13.5) vs Washington
The Army (+22) vs Michigan looked interesting but didn't bet the game. Knew that number was too big for Michigan to cover.
Congrats, hopefully that was a parlay and not individual bets.

If I had been able to legally bet I would have made a killing going against Louisville football last year. It was clear after game 3 that they wouldn't cover again, no matter how big the spread was. Could have made thousands easily.
Not something I would do often. But there are times. I remember by game 6 or 7 looking into it, wondering if some of those web sites were safe and I could actually get paid or would just be throwing money away. Not worth the risk now, but legalize and I'd play.

It was actually
.
Gave half of it back the next day though. Liked Carolina & had a sip of the kool-aid they were serving in Clevland.
Anyway, back on the Panthers (-6.5) vs Buccaneers tonight. I liked what I was hearing from the Buc's training camp & thought Arians could start the team in the right direction.
Not anymore. Fading TB for a while.
I'm too much of a loyalist to ever bet against Cal (or on Cal for that matter). I never want to be in a situation where I'm actually pleased about a loss or not happy because we didn't win enough.
The only bet on Cal I ever put was like +8000 to win the pac-12. Needless to say I didn't have to book a return flight to Vegas to collect.

I know, I hated the thought of it. But it was so obvious that Petrino had quit and was just waiting for the buyout money.

Didn't see anything to change my mind on the Bucs. The Panthers on the other hand...
Nobody in the NFC South looks very good right now.
NCAAF:
BYU (+4.5) vs USC
Under 45 GASO vs MINN
TLSA (+14) vs OKST
