Borderlands 3 Loot-All

There's been talk of cross play with consoles too, though no timetable was given for that. I'd love it if I could play with my ps4 brethren as most of my borderlands chums play there.

I don't like Epic's launcher for many reasons. I am getting B3 on Xbox One first, then when its available on Steam, I'll probably get it there too since I have all the other Borderlands games there.

I pre-ordered for pc. Hopefully we get steam keys in 6 months, but if not, oh well. At least the devs get a nice cut this way, I guess?

I am curious, has this been done before with other games on EPIC and eventually go to Steam?

I don't think the Epic store has been a thing long enough for a precedent to be set but, through all the language used and because there are a ton of customers on Steam, it seems incredibly likely that Borderlands 3 and it's ilk are only timed exclusives.

Only have a few games have been labeled as full exclusives with Epic while most have been timed exclusives. April 2020 is when the Borderlands 3-Epic exclusivity ends so I expect it on Steam then. It's also been announced that all PC players will be able to play together, regardless of launcher. That was one of my biggest concerns.

Whew that is huge, agreed! Thanks!

I've never used Epic launcher, so just out of curiosity what are the issues with it?

Personal preference and concerns about security with their launcher. I also hate "timed exclusives", it just kinda grates on me. Mostly, I have a large library on Steam already, and hate that I have to have multiple launchers. I have all the other Borderlands games and DLC on Steam. Since I want all the games together in one place, I'll wait and buy it on Steam. However, since I want to play day one, I am buying on Xbox One.

Some may not understand my reasoning, but /shrug, just doing what makes sense to me and my situation and what makes me happy at the end of the day.

Rains, would you be interested in something like Playnite? It's an all-in-one launcher for the PC. I haven't tried it but will be downloading it when I get home. Seems like the most elegant solution. I'm not a big fan of constantly segregating my library but it seems like that's the way it's going for now.

Wouldn't you need to provide that app passwords for all your game services? I am not comfortable with that.

The following is a reddit post from a Playnite developer:

The security is on the same level as with any browser. Only web session cookies are stored when you link account, the same way for example Chrome stores them when you login via website. No other information is stored in relation to linked accounts.

There's also GOG Galaxy 2.0 but it's in a closed beta right now. Solves the same problem but is with a more trusted company.

Been watching a lot of videos over on the LazyData YouTube Channel and I have to say it is making the character choice harder not easier. All four look really good and look to have a lot of different ways to play them. So far a Brawler build with Amara is slightly edging out FL4K for me.

I'd be curious what you learned while learning Adobe CC

Thanks! Among other things: don't start with Illustrator, illustration is not what it's for; Photoshop is more like an entire tool shop than a tool, but its still very much what it was 15 years ago, and provides a foundation for the other programs; you could always use more planning and more resources; and people like my voice more than I do.

Illustrator is amazing however! In fact, Photoshop has got so much piled on to it that it might be worth it to start with Illustrator

I am still watching BL3 videos and still hoping someone has a 20% or more off deal somewhere...

Both programs have their uses with Photoshop actually having a good bit of overlap with Illustrator. Photoshop's raster nature seems to be a lot easier for people to wrap their heads around than the vector based features in Photoshop. I really think Adobe has been struggling for the past 10 years or so trying to figure out new features to add to Photoshop which is why it has become something you can use for photos or drawings or videos or animations or 3D or god knows what else. I have CC at work but I am still making use of CS4 at home.

To add to that, if I was trying to learn either on my own, I would choose Photoshop. Photoshop is a program that you can follow along on videos for each of its many parts and be successful.

Illustrator on the other hand I fumbled with for decades trying to learn it on my own. I was capable with it but I hated most of it, wrote it off and felt that many 3D programs had better curve tools. But then, as part of a graphic and web design certificate, I took a 10am -6pm weekend intensive that opened up the magic of Illustrator. I discovered so many of its tools and a solid dozen of them were fantastic! I love those tools and the workflow I developed with them. I could definitely spend all day working on it. The only thing holding me back is the subscription. But I found a decent clone: Affinity Designer that is $50 and regularly goes on sale for $25 with no subscription.

Am I really going to have to use my %15 off voucher from GMG to pre-order BL3? There are no other discounts? Don't places have 4 packs anymore? It is not a question of whether BL3 is worth it. It is justifying spending that with what little $$$ I have left...

On PC i think the only option is Epic and from 2k themselves.

Love the hype!

If 15 percent off is the best deal out there, anyone have an extra coupon they’d be willing to share?

Thanks,
Chad

Reviews are in and they are very mixed. Essentially, the shooting is very good but the quest structure is stale and the humour has degenerated further. I was expecting this since I found the humour in the latest Borderlands 2 DLC to be very bad. New vault hunters skills are good. Really, all I want are new environments, enemies, vault hunters, and guns. Would have loved a huge redesign of the series and am very disappointed to hear the mission structure is the same and just as annoying as in Borderlands 2 and Pre-Sequel but still looking forward to this. Very much a Diablo game for me and the story is completely secondary.

PC Gamer
- Bad jokes clash with great guns in a looter shooter lost in time.
Polygon - When punk rock is played by dentists.
Gamespot - Lootin' And Shootin'!
IGN - An amazing arsenal of weapons, humor, and missions.
Game Informer - Sticking to it's Guns.
Venture Beat - Fun action, but some yucks are too yucky.

I'm day 1 day 1 day 1 stupid auto correct

I'll Redbox for 1 day.

Anyone else playing this one on PS4? I've got mine pre-ordered. Never like the humour but the gameplay is always addictive. The addition of a slide and the tales from the Borderlands characters had me sold.

I'll most likely pick it up on PS4.

Amazon sucks. Preordered for Xbox one in July. They won't deliver till the 17th, 4 days after street days. Sigh. I took the day off and everything.

Bummer. Had hoped for better reviews. I suppose in a week or two the price will drop for PC.

I have preordered on Xbox One. Even got the fancy digital version so the DLC is already paid for.

Cancel it and go to a local store.

The reviews aren’t that bad though. Especially if you enjoyed previous BL games. This one has more of it.

Here are some review
links

Well, I did love Borderlands 2. I’ve skimmed the reviews to avoid too many spoilers about gameplay and plot points. It does sound like a lot of fetch quests which is a bummer.

Anyone come across any articles videos comparing PC vs regular Xbox? I’m trying to decide what platform to buy it on.

Thanks,
Chad

FYI there are Proving Grounds and Arena Battles (forget what the BL name is, slaughter house?)
A dev stated that they are available before you finish the campaign. Proving Grounds are like the Greater Rift system from Diablo 3. You have to unlock them but it sounds like there is 1 per planet so you it is unclear whether once you unlock them, they are available from level 1 on alts. (would be awesome)

The arena battles thingy I think you just have to find them on the map.

this series has always, for me, just been a medium through which i can watch numbers pop out of moving targers, slightly incrementally better loot dropping at my feet, and is mindless enough for me to turn the volume down and listen to podcasts in the background....so as long as all THAT is still intact, then i'll be getting my moneys worth out of it I think.
