Random thing you loathe right now.

Not so lucky, getting stabbing pains and off to the ER. Hopefully it’s not too busy.

Good grief! Hang in there, buddy.

Well I’m at a Johns Hopkins associated hospital, so I’m in good hands. It’s just a waiting game.

Good luck, buddy. Hope all goes well!

Verdict is in, abdominal infection with liquid pooling. Being admitted to the hospital.

Hope things go smoothly for you and you have a quick recovery

Keep us updated when you can, buddy.

Good news is I’ve been under observation for a while, depending on how the next dr feels I may be able to go home to ride it out we caught it early.

Hope it's all good. They sent me home once my white blood count got back to normal without doing the follow-up CT for the abscess, assuming it healed itself. Turns out it just rubbed against the back of my bladder until it created a fistula and I had to go back 2 months later to have a foot of intestine cut out.

Just make sure they're sure you're actually good to be discharged.

Update: Specialist is unsure, staying here at least until tomorrow, she wants me to meet with a surgeon because my particular problem is not apparent just looking at the surface. Getting some cultures sent to the lab in the meantime.

Thanks for your support everyone, it means a lot.

Ouch! Crap, Bonus. Sorry to hear.

No problem, buddy. You stay on top of it and don't let them send you home early if you have any concerns or are feeling stranger than you think you should be. Good luck.

That's so absurd, Parallax. I'm sorry to hear you're having so much difficult.

(lol, I just realized I was replying to a post from 2009.)

Random thing I loathe right now! What Dr. Incurable said. I have been sitting with him in the hospital. Kid is a trooper.

So my first IV infiltrated and we were almost unable to get another one in. Now I can’t have blood drawn.

Can they do a midline or PICC? My veins are deep and thin, so after 20-ish attempts at starting an IV and purple arms, they had a guy come in with basically a portable CT, sterilized the room, numbed my arm, and used that to find a vein in my bicep that they could push drugs through and draw blood.

Wasn't as successful on the second visit post-surgery. Got stuck against a wall and would let them push drugs, but couldn't get blood out. Still a lot better than them bringing in every phlebotomist in the hospital to see if they could get a line.

At the moment we are waiting for my arms to heal. Other than that idk.

Unfortunately the nurse who does that is out of the office for the holiday, and I need a dr to sign off on it.

How are you holding up today, Dr? Sorry to hear about the troubles.

Well Kiri brought me lunch and a friend is coming to visit me, it’s not all bad. On the other hand the antibiotics hurt going in and I have to spend my weekend in here.

Sorry, Dr. Incurable. Glad you’re going to be on the mend soon.

My loath is that on the flight to Aruba today one of my molars with a root canal broke off. I got ahold of my dentist and he said I don’t have to get it treated for the 9 days I’m here. That kind of freaks me out, though.

Sorry about the antibiotics hurting, buddy, and that your weekend is being spent there. You got a Switch or anything to play while there??

And good luck, DSGamer. That would be troubling!

Well, I’m getting a root canal done on the 12th. I went in due to crazy terrible pain, plus an infection. He drilled, pulled the nerve and gave me antibiotics. That was 8 days ago. So it seems like you can go quite awhile once the nerve is pulled.

Hope you can still enjoy Aruba. Tooth pain sucks.

I can understand being freaked out. I am pretty nonchalant when it comes to medicine, but anything involving teeth freaks me out.
On my end we are looking at a procedure being done soon. I had an EKG done today.
Unfortunately I can’t do a switch or anything because of IV placement.

Daww

Hope the procedure goes well and fast!!

Oh. Do you mean like Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter? I’m trying to figure out what else might qualify as an anti-biopic.

Exactly like Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter.

It doesn’t hurt because of the root canal. I’m just worried about it getting infected. Hoping my dentist is right that I can wait a week.

Well, I am taking antibiotics, so that may be a factor. Hope all goes well.

I was kind of partial to Abraham Lincoln vs Zombies.
