Previous incarnations of Cleveland/P&C/D&D have had an image thread, to handle political cartoons and other image-based stuff that doesn't belong in the general post-a-picture threads.
If any of them spawn an extended discussion, please spawn it off into its own thread. Replies to non-picture replies should take the form of a link pointing to a post on a different discussion thread.
And I shouldn't have to say it, but the images still need to abide by the rules.
Posted via a computer or smartphone that was made in China along with the electronic guts of most things that make the Internet possible.

The meme talks about Chinese "trinkets," giving the very false idea that China only makes cheap sh*t that Americans really don't need vs. the reality that they make a lot of the things our modern society runs on and that people really like.
The meme wouldn't hold up if it substituted "[your preferred Chinese-made smartphone]" or "[your preferred Chinese-made gaming console] for "trinkets." The last 50 years of globalization has shown us that consumers will eagerly buy cheap products regardless how poorly the workers or the citizen of the country the product was made in were treated.
So the sentiment is untrue?
The sentiment is absolutely true. Monkeysphere, man.

Damn, that was a great article. Thanks for sharing!
If workers were earning a fair share of their labor's profits they might have the disposable income to pay more for "trinkets." I thought mocking the purchase decisions of people living paycheck-to-paycheck was part of the Republican platform.

And here I edited out a line from my post that mentioned the Monkeysphere!

Sidenote: the Monkeysphere is one of my favourite ideas. It explains an awful lot of behaviour.
And finally, DON'T LET ANYBODY simplify it for you. The world cannot be made simple. Anyone who tries to paint a picture of the world in basic comic book colors is most likely trying to use you as a pawn.
Except, of course, for the concept of the Monkeysphere, which is somehow used to explain all sorts of behaviour?

I'm not gonna let you simplify this for me!
It is a picture thread, not an "post an academic paper detailing a theory" thread. I think most things will be simplify
Uhhhhh...... Bingo....?

I would be interested to know the 10 things he wants to teach his daughter.
That last line really means go around looking for fights you weren't involved in but you can finish because you're awesome and fated to be the good guy with the gun.
9 of the 10 things essentially boil down to "everyone else can go f*ck 'emselves".

It's definitely the recipe for a right-wing nutjob. I just posted his warblegarble because of #8.
Even though I'd peg him as a gibbering Red Stater based on his tweet, it turns out he's actually Canadian. Which is oddly more frightening in how right wing extremism is international and yet largely interchangeable.
I started peeling the ol' onion of far-right globalisation after listening to The War On Everything and finding that the establishment of US cultural hegemony involved a lot more than blue jeans and Elvis. Nothing like a good Robert Evans hit to drain whatever faith you had left in capital H Humanity on any given day.
I didn't know bots could procreate.
I was so certain this was a photoshopped joke I combed through his twitter feed. It’s not a joke.

Ben Shapiro is an idiot who knows a couple not-quite-clever rhetorical tricks to convince other idiots that he's clever.
"We scan stop hurricanes with nuclear weapons" is literally the same as "I cane stop a steam roller drum by shooting it with my 22 pistol"
